Has it really come down to this?? Half darklight and an ifrit weapon isn't enough? Really???
Half of the first dungeon is done with freakin cannons anyway... unreal...

LOL people gear checking Castrum?!?!
Let's be real - You can't speed run in a party with almost everyone rocking AF and level 20-30 accessories, so yes Gear Checking does make sense, but that's what happens when you create such a casual game and more hardcore people want to do content.
Why stop there? I'm gonna start gearchecking people for storymode Ifrit. And i'm imposing a ten Garuda weapon minimum for Copperbell Mines.
I got gearchecked with half darklight and an ifrit weapon. Nothing on me is below 49, and those are HQ accessories. (only two!)
i skill check people :s
agree to tank their ak for them, and when the first boss dies twenty minutes in, i know to not play with anyone in that group ever again.
the bards in full darklight and garuda bows that don't apply/reapply dots are worthless, but the monk in af and a gc wep that knows a proper rotation - he gets friend listed to invite later
Putrid people. Games aren't meant to be fun to them, but a job.
This reminds me of that one time in FFXI where the Princess Bards would interview all the Warriors before joining the merit party.
not blacklist just not friended.
if you're 50, and you've either skipped or farmed wanderer's to the point that you're shouting for a tank for your AK i expect you to at least know a proper dps rotation for your class.
could care less about your gear, as i've already said, the guy in AF and a company weapon will outdps the guy in full darklight that's clueless about how to push buttons.
a-effen-men!
For the record: I run AK every day. I actually enjoy it more than spamming the story raids for philo stones. I'd rather play an extra 10-15 min doing something somewhat engaging than droning on in an 8 man where half the part is afk anyway.
...cats really out here gearchecking for story raids...
If people think that it should be fine that they can run things like HM Titan with lvl 29 accessories and full AF, then it should be fine that somebody wants to run Castrum with full Darklite and relic weapons.
Don't like the group? Don't join the group. MINDBLOWING
If you don't like it, ignore them and start your own party.
I fail to the issue here?
i think the trouble is not really the gearcheck in itself, but the speedrun...seriously speedrun? for what gain 7-15 minutes? and what they will do while this time? nothing...
this rush spirit is a plague to the modern mmorpg... people want everything now and fast... that sad.
i clear castrum in 25 mins tops if i pick people from revenants/friends list for the group.
if i duty finder it's 35 minimum.
what will i do with that extra time? well, i'm going to be getting 500 philos every 2 hours instead of 300-400
to me, that's a big deal - not saying it should be a big deal to everyone, but to me a 30+ minute clear of castrum was a waste of my time that could've been better spent elsewhere
FTFY
Seriously, why do you care so much if somebody does a dungeon fast? Or do you just not understand how incredibly long it would take to gear up even a single job if all you did was take your time and enjoy the, I dunno... nothing that comes with running a dungeon for the 50th time?
God, the try hard nerd level of some people.
Hardcore people will always have their hardcore requirements for the easy stuff. Sorry to hear you got bad experiences with them. :/
@vmage: is your right to think like this, but for me i don't see the point to be the first at do something, then rush for get beat this place... no point, i prefer beat the challenge, not to be the first to beat it.
after is my opinion and i simply think people need to enjoy more the game. that all.
@reiterpallasch: i know fairly well how is long and how is boring to equip one jobs, i have already give my thought about this. personally i don't care to run a dungeon even 100 times if i have fun. i have done it while the beta and will do it there too. after be aggresive don't make your point valid. i found it sad that people have loose of sight that the point of a game is have fun... and because they need to do something a lot of time it's forced to be boring and not fun... then let's speedrun it.
From what ive heard, an upcoming mmo is going to make people basically answer a questioneer about their playstyle (hopefully a psych evaluation as well)what they like doing in an mmo etc. and group them with like minded people. You will still be able to group with friends and quest and do other things even if in different playstyle groups. If implemented correctly this could be one of the best things to happen to mmos in quite awhile. Imagine playing with like minded people and playstyles without having too worry about someone insulting you or judging you for how you play.
wow i go in a group and the tank is in full gathering gear or the healer is in crafting gear when asked do you want to change they say excuse me so yes i think a gear check is needed the group was wiped because people don't know how to gear, and where are all those people who said game was easy before launch ?
i don't think it's elitist to ask somebody to at least be reasonably geared to run even a random duty finder if you feel that is wrong then you are just as bad as those i mentioned and have no respect for others because you think the world revolves around you and thank god for blacklist.
I totally agree with you, I'm just trying to be optimistic that it might balance the numbers out little bit. Also hoping that if a person gets enough complaints for obviously not belonging to a certain playstyle, that they will be placed in an appropriate one. I know all too well how some gamers can take a logical and good idea and totally warp it into the exact opposite of what it was meant to be.
Playing efficiently, playing well, and playing to the best of my ability is fun to me, as well as to a lot of people in this game. Why is that concept lost on so many people here?
What is it about making a grindy dungeon take even longer that is so fun to you? Why try to do the dungeons to begin with? Is it to get gear? Because that gear makes the dungeon faster, which should be making it less fun for you right?
Do you also tell your boss to pay you less so you have to work harder and longer for the same reward? Or do you want to make as much money as you can in as little time possible?
The solution is don't join the leaders run if you don't meet their requirements. If they want to gear check people for faster runs that is their choice. If you don't agree don't join that run, use DF or make your own or join another there are a lot of options.
Speedrunners should make their own groups and stay out of the Duty Finder. Problem solved. I mean, do they seriously expect to get a full party of people in full darklight and relic weapons in a PUG? I think I'm going to stop reading the forums for a while, you guys are making me dread end-game. Not because of the content, but because of the players.
speed runners are the first to complain about end game and they have no gil because they spend all their time trying to hit max level, every mmo has them go check out the forums of wow, swtor, guildbores 2 and so on.
i have choose to not push my leveling i still have not broke lv 31 playing other classes i am in no hurry to be the first on any server or the best i wish to enjoy the game i feel no need to be better than anyone only thing i strive for is personal best and when i do party with people i know my class and am prepared and play it well i show courtesy not arrogance and stupidity but then again i know what being mature means and thats something square enix can't teach no matter how many attempts they make with emote missions.
Someone wearing inappropriate gear for their role in the party is a totally different matter from expecting players to have the very best of the best, hardest to obtain gear immediately. I am all for being properly geared, but I don't expect everyone to be able to have premium gear, especially if they are fairly new to the game or their current class/job.
Complaining about this is stupid.
What's the purpose of a speed run? To be as fast as possible. So of course you'd want gear optimized for speed.
This messed up crap... just happened to me. I was /sh for SCH lfp multi CM/Praet. runs and someone invited me. (Only time I accept blind invites w/o a tell is if I'm /sh.) Well we had just gotten to like 5-6/8 members when I was kicked. I asked the person who invited me "Did you just kick me?" and they said "Yeah sorry 'he' wants relic weapons only...." (idk who "he" was) so I blisted them. I don't have the patience to deal with someone like that. I've been spamming CM/Praet. on my SMN/SCH for a good week or so now. I have lvl 49-50 accs. Full AF(On SCH) Some DL(On SMN) and BOTH Ifrit's Grimiore and Codex for them. I'm not sure how I'd hinder the party at all.... but w/e. Kinda sick of this mentality all together period.
lol gear checks for lower dungeons is laughable because the people who insist on them are the ones who suck at the game.
eww so and so has legendary equips they run past all the junk mobs and only fight bosses! how bad ass is that? not at all. why? because they are trying to make the game as easy as is possible by using every possible exploit to not have to do the job properly. DPS meters, this equip over that one, stand in this position only to never have to move or evade, watch 50 videos on exactly how to beat this fight. there is a world of difference between being good at a job and eliminating any difficulties to not have to be good.
the party that beats the exact same boss equipped with the games intended equipment is far better at the game than the group who has over-equipped for the fight to make the fight easy for even the most nominal players. But we do it in ten minutes less w can farm more that way! BS that ten minutes is lost every time your character sits in town showing off how great your gear is while you do NOTHING for hours at a time.
a good tank with appropriate gear (yes being under equipped is no better level 50 with level 30 gear...etc..) will need to do more to keep hate and the healers safe than the one who's over equipped yet they will also learn what works and doesn't work to do the job if things get hairy and be able to use this long afterwards while the player who's always depended on being over equipped will be caught with they're pants down at the first sign of a problem.
and the main reason people up and leave when others don't have "Make it easy" gear on. they simply can't adapt to more than the one way to beat a fight.
This.
Ever since I've hit 50 and started endgame content, It's just been worse and worse and it has nothing to do with the game. It's merely the community that makes up endgame that is depressing and childish to a point that makes me want to just stop playing. There needs to be fixes implemented in order to prevent the community from festering.
@catofninetails we need more people like you to play this game.
personally i have abandonned all content passed ifrit and wanderer's palace... castrum, ak, praetorium,... are simply horrible. is not playing anymore is being efficient is more a work... and i think it's a trouble. can we really enjoy the game like this? i dunno and don't want to enjoy it like this.
