Why not? Still going to take 2 weeks to get chest / legs (down from the 3 now). It's the same amount of grinding, just in slightly less time.

Caps suck, and they're unnecessary. Just make the items hard to get.
No one likes being told "this is precisely how much you can accomplish every week for this game you're paying monthly for".
I agree with you if I can play for 16hours a day and want to get everything when I want I should be allowed to do so im paying for the game.
this is basicaly them saying. here, pay us for play time. also you want to progress? you want progress at your own pace? you will play only as much as we say and you will progress at the pace we want ( which is one run of amdapor keep a day essentialy), oh yeah you will be PAYING us for this privilege.

I have never reached the limit because i rarely farm them. I just get them from time to time and say "cool another one for the bag". I am half tempted to sell them off at the prices people are offering for them but i will suffer down the track from lack of investing in descent clothing. I have the one thing that could make me rich and i need to hold on to it...figures. -.-

I say wait until they release other method to obtain mythology before raising cap above 300 because right now people are swarming AK and the small amount of Mythology given from HM Primals doesn't provide incentive to play Hard Mode Primal fights for Mythology.
We already having issue due to AK server overflow preventing people from instantly joining a AK run even with a server made group.
anyway why should they even bother raising it since 300 is reasonable seeing as gear is better then crystal tower raid and coil raid if they increased the cap no one will really run it
The reason why the cap exists is so people can't get on par gear with Coil fast enough for 100 people to beat it before 2.1, why would they change it till 2.1?
Same, it also bothers me. The only purpose of the cap is to increase our play time and that's pretty shady since we are paying to play the game. It doesn't bring any difficulty or ingenuity to the game, simply increases play time, which increases the amount you pay (if you aren't planning to subscribe until servers go down forever.)
You don't want us to get a lot of tomes? Make them more difficult to get. How is putting a cap on mythology tomes increasing difficulty? It's just a time sink.
Why not make it so you can gather more, if in fact it is encouraged to play more than 1 class?
If they increased the cap:
1) Then people who have enough time, can get everything all that much sooner (in a week instead of a month). There is simply not enough content yet to keep them fully occupied until 2.1, so they introduce a 'pacing' mechanism for them to keep comming back.
2) If they likewise increased the price, then a greater disparity between those who have a lot of time and those who do not. In other words, instead of taking 100 hours to get enough tomes, they increased cap (and price) 10x, then it would take 1000 hours. This would make it much more challenging for those with insufficient time to accumulate tomes, and really only benefit a (probably small minority) of players who do have the time/interest to do this.
In other words, the cap serves two limits: Forced pacing in lieu of minimal content AND prevent great disparity in achievements between very active and semi active players. In addition the low cap (versus a scaled out higher/unlimited cap) prevents us from complaining of endless grinding to get tomes.
Over time more conent will appear obviously (impossible to have a game like this launch with enough meaningful content to keep people who play 12 hours a day busy for 4 months, and yet only charge 50$/10$ for).
roughly translated, game will lose subs
Monday 1700-2000: Coil Turn 1-3 w/new people (100 Mythology)
Tuesday 1800-1930: Amdapor Keepx2 (80 Mythology)
Wednesday 1700-2030: Coil Turn 4-5 (50 Mythology)
Thursday 1700-2200: Coil Turn 5, Amdapor Keepx2 (80 Mythology)
Eventually this will end with beating Turn 5 on Wednesday, and then on Monday. That's very little incentive to play and very little time/effort put into playing.
Yes, this exactly. The cost of the items remains the same, the amount of time it takes to earn the items remains the same, the only thing that changes is how much farming you're allowed to do within the week. I am not okay being told how much I can do within a set time frame.
I'm ok with a cap...but yeah...300 is too small.
If you could only farm primals for it, that would be INSANE for getting gear but the 300 cap makes sense.
However doing ak and getting 40 a run, although thats a few ak's to get up to 300...its hardly a weeks worth for the slightly more then average player thats willing to spend that time.
Honestly speaking this game for me is just that. A game. It is a hobby in how a spend my free time. If I cannot spend my free time doing what I want to do I find other things to do. It is not an incentive for me to keep coming back because my play time is interrupted by a feature which simply causes me to play longer without granting more content.
I craft when I want to craft. A cap in farming tomes does not cause me to say: Oh no I want to craft now because no new tomes for me. It doesn't make me rush to level up a new character. It will cause me to turn the game off and read a book, go back to other games I haven't beaten (Shadowrun) maybe design a level for a game myself (I love that about Neverwinter Online).
Note: I am not one who grinds AK I find that boring so I won't reach cap each week, unless I happen to run a lot of Primals, I have been having fun running them, Stone Vigil, & Wander's Palace. I got burnt out on CM and I have a family member to run it with so don't want to push it to much. I just believe in I should not have an artificial cap in game progression.
currently AF2 is more like a reward for people who played long enough to serve as proof they have put time and effort into the game in the long term.
If people want the strongest gear in the game fast then they will want the Allagan set from the high endgame content like in Bahamut and maybe in Crystal Tower.
Still I wish there was another method to get a different AF look set.
maybe later add a Vanity NPC that sells special Vanity AF gear sets that have different look from AF1 and AF2.
These Vanity AF sets maybe quite popular since they provide different look to separate people and to prevent the majority of people from having only AF1 look.
The cap makes no intuitive sense other than prolonging content to allow for the developers to make more. I don't really care, they're not the first game to do it, but I honestly think most people would play more if there were no cap. People would spam AK for AF2, then spam Coil for overlapping but superior Allagan pieces. I think putting iLVL 90 gear on a token system was stupid to begin with regardless. 80 sure, but the 90 stuff should be achieved for being competent in Coil.
well, if you want level 90 gear as fast as YOU want, then go clear Bahamuts Coil? if you want easy mode level 90 gear then you gotta stick with myth tokens that takes a pretty long time, you have a choice.
You are playing the wrong genres of games - MMOs artificially cap you so they don't die out within 2 weeks of launch. While it doesn't save some MMOs, in general caps and limitations are there for a reason, don't like it or feel like it shouldn't be, thousands of single player games out there for you that aren't in the MMO category.
As for the topic, if it did raise at all, it'd be:

Every AF2 item costs 920+ now
Relic+1 Item would be 700 each.
Even if the OP was half serious I'd really hope no one would think they'd raise the points pumped out and left the rewards untouched.
Yeah they should totally like not cap and just hand over gear because most are too lazy to get. This isn't WoW, not all MMO's will hand you gear and give you what you want if you bitch enough. They made a cap for a reason as most pointed out. Earn the gear like everyone else and stop complaining cause I highly doubt they will change it. It's not hard to get Relic or full DL. But it doesn't mean just because you pay for this game it means you're entitled to get ilvl90 gear. You pay to play and keep the servers running and such, you aren't entitled to much else. Sorry to be blunt but the qqing is unbearable over something so dumb.
As you can see, unlike WoW who is 100% devoted to their subscribers, se doesnt really care.

Raising the cap only means we get the items we want faster and thus they need to make new contents faster as well. But judging se from the previous issues from this game. They do not care and will never do about the players. They are too lazy to fix server issues what more add new content?

The irony about this is there's much more content in the game and the whole Mythology Tomes is literally only 0.5% of the game's content - even the dungeon you run it is tied to Grand Company Progression, something that requires no Mythology Tomes.Quote:
