Relic Reborn quest - Job lock removal

Not asking to gimp this quest at all, especially titan, but I really feel like being locked to the job you're trying to complete a relic for should be removed(excluding the beastmen/hydra parts). Aside from it totally going against the armoury system, it's incredibly annoying for small ls's, like mine, to complete the titan fight while our members are locked on the jobs we're trying to complete the relic for.

For instance, right now we have 3 blms, a pld, drg and a smn all on the titan phase for the relic quest. Zero healers and the fight is basically a dodge/heal check. Now I don't like healing, I'm not even good at it, but I'd hop on whm for that fight and learn it if it would actually complete the quest for me. I know the other blm who's a sch would do the same. And by doing this we'd be able to stay in the same group and progress as a ls. But because we can't do this, we're stuck on this fight DF'ing relic whm's in AF and 2900 hp sch's and wiping after the heart phase.


Why not clear on whm for the group, then have them return the favor for my relic you ask? Because you'd need to gear their whm's first, then have them learn the fight on whm and finally clear it. That'd take an extra two weeks or more most likely.

Again, not asking for a nerf to the quest, just to open it up to more job options. Not only would this help friends complete the content together (instead of being job locked) but it would also make the content more fun because you could run as different rolls instead of the same one the entire quest line.

You ARE asking for a nerf to the quest. An important part of the relic quest is showing you can play the job in difficult content.

The most difficult part of the quest is getting people who don't wear AF/lv 46 weapons to titan. Not the actual fight.

Pshaw if you're this close an LS you'll run eight Titan Hard fights if need be.
Taking turns in the roles necessary is a thing an LS does! (is what mine is doing at any rate)

If you aren't skilled enough to complete all challenges with the job then you don't deserve the relic for it. That's how I see it. I'm glad it's this way.

or you do what most FCs in this situation is complete the content twice, having some people as their relic job, and some as the jobs you need.

Wow. So you're saying the fight is cake and you just need to get people with better than AF/lv46 weapons to the fight? Should be a breeze to get your WHM or whatever alts with better gear than that and go nuts. Good luck, and just say no to being able to do relic quest on alt job. Seriously. SE should change that because you can't wait 2-3 weeks to gear up? No thanks.

While I DO agree with your statement, you have to consider that this IS a MMO and not a single player game.

Which means, regardless of being able to play my job well enough, unless OTHER ppl HELP me, I will NEVER be able to get it.

Which also means, that once ALL the players whom want to tank/heal are DONE with theirs, my DRG/MNK/BLM/SMN may NEVER get any help to get my relic...

Therefore, being able to tank/heal for my DD relics in an MMO game KINDA makes a LITTLE sense, don't you agree?

If I could finish Titan as a Scholar with a /shout pug team, you should have no problem.

Just have to memorize his move set, you'll get there eventually.

You need a FC that isn't full of dicks then. All the battle segments of the Relic quest take 10-15 min each and if people don't want to spare that then that's really all I can say about it.

It also negates the purpose - in XIV/ARR Relics are Artifact weapons which makes more sense to do everything as your job. If this was FFXI, yeah it would make more sense but sadly it is not designed to be as open ended on how you acquire your Relic.

OP, just wanted to let you know that in 1.0 we were able to "go into" an instance with the job needed and then switch to your desired job inside of it. No idea why Square thought it was a good idea to change that completely

His move set, that never changes, makes the fight easy. You always knows what comes next. I literally fall a sleep pre heart phase because it's the same exact thing every time, just like ifrit. Post heart I have yet to run with healers who can keep the tank up or the rest of the party up through tumult. Sometimes I see someone eat a plume but for the most part no one is getting hit by anything except for tumult and the tank always goes down on mountain buster because he's not topped off before it happens. Maybe it's because I'm on a JP server and I'm stuck with nubs who join the shout groups, but the people playing are just bad.

I can see the argument for 'earning your relic' by completing it on that job, sort of. But then what do you say about the off tank in DF that literally contributes nothing and walks away with a win? That's a total carry. It's probably just because we lack healers but it's this job lock aspect that is ruining this quest for us.

Your FC needs to recruit some main job healers it sounds like, that or gear up some healers in the people you have. I don't see why it would take more than a week to gear healers, static run CM repeatedly to get some darklight gear for a few days then spam ifrit over and over to get some canes/books. Not sure which would be easier, depends on your server.

If you have any intention of running BC after finish everyone's relics then you're going to want to recruit some healers anyway, so just bite the bullet and do it.

I would think that allowing someone to have multiple of the same quest active would solve this. You would still have to pass each individual part as the correct job to progress in each quest, so you wouldnt be able to do chimera once and have it done for all jobs, you would have to do it 9 times, once as each job.
I think this would alleviate the frustration by allowing us to fill the role needed at the time and still progress. You could even have a team with all 9 and just do each phase 9 times in a round robin job fashion.

Sadly I've done chimera on 7 different occasions after I completed it for myself to just help out other people. I've done hydra a few extra times too. I don't mind helping at all but titan is an issue because of the gear check. I've got pld and blm geared in DL but now I need another 3k tokens for whm? I'm already extremely bored of AK/CM. Wish they'd increase the drops from primals to at least have a change of scenery.

So what if it will take longer.. Apparently you would rather do it with friends and FC/LS mates then random people. So everyone learning how to play tank/healer will benefit your FC/LS for future content.
