Will SE once again, further the gap between geared players and ungeared players?
The ungeared ones already suffered enough from the ak nerf.
Anyway its just a rumor.
What do you guys think of the maintenance? Any ideas what will be new??

I don't see how you could do this. Castrum is the dungeon I farm for DL gear. If you make that harder then where am I supposed to go, WP?
I heard rumors about it. Im on the same baot as you. I am very behind in terms.of gear with only 2 dl accessories and castrum is the only option for noobly geared player like me.
lol i just have 1 Dl, the main armor slots are freaking EXPENSIVE! lol 1320.. it takes me 5 hours just to get 600 lol
I bet the maintenance coming up will toss a nerf in there. Happened before right?
I don't see why they would nerf Castrum. It's easy but its pretty damn time consuming running it. Though it wouldn't hurt to do something about the lazy guards in front of Boss #2.
Honesty, SE isn't as brutal with exploits as they were in XI.
Back in the day they would have maint the next day and fix it, and in some cases they'd ban everybody they found using the exploit (Look: Salvage exploit).
The should have took AK down right away and got FATEs fixed back in beta.
Uhhhh, is this referring to the announced maintenance happening on the 16th?
It's a story dungeon. It's supposed to be easy. I could see them making the full 100 tokens only available if you run with someone who hasn't done it before, but I think they have bigger shit to worry about right now — like the myriad of incorrect ability descriptions, WAR being an awful tank with shit abilities, the severe lack of places to farm mythology tokens, people not being able to load mobs in high-density FATEs, Duty Finder queue times, a way to deal with DF griefers...
If it's this one:

I think you guys will be fine. I highly doubt they'd nerf content only on the NA/EU servers ^^ Don't stress :)
Nerf exactly what in the dungeon? The search light's that make the pools of patrols go away? The artillery cannon's that are there for a reason? You do know that the "Speed Run" is mainly killing everything with the cannons instead of normally attacking them. Yea, you can walk behind a few mobs, but that's it.
I don't see why they would nerf it, that's just being paranoid. Running Castrum over and over again isn't a questionable activity like skipping all of the trash in a dungeon.
Not understanding why the trash doesn't drop shit in ANY of these damn dungeons. Hell at least the 50 dungeon trash should have a percent. Hell the trash in Dynamis had a chance to drop AF2, albeit an extremely low chance but still a chance.
There is a lot of trash mobs in the zone that can be sneaked by, others you can kill quickly with cannons. A geared group can get it done in like 30 min and get 100 philosophy. There's nothing bad about running the zone fast.
For a military base, their security is rather underwhelming. You can literally fight 5% of all of the dungeon mobs because all of them only have vision in a straight line, for 25 yalms. You can literally walk behind almost everything and the things that auto-aggro, you can just ignore because Cid can't die and will eventually kill them.
Running CM (although boring as hell) should have been new level 50's first stop anyway, instead of trying to jam themselves into AK speed runs with AF gear and a pre-50 weapon. Of course the fact that you only get Myth stones from AK (or small amounts from primals) is definitely an issue, because you can't miss one week of Mytho stones to spend that time actually getting DL gear for the content. :\
I always found it odds that you needed AK to unlock the level 50 GC weapons though, and it was far easier to get Ifrit's then to clear AK :P
Edit: There doesn't really even seem to be that much trash in CM. What speeds things up is using the cannons to kill 2-3 packs at once, which saves you maybe 5-10 minutes in the grand scheme of things.
They nerfed Amdapor why not add Castrum to the list. ^^
I think SE is trying to make up for them ignoring peoples requests in beta. So, now when one person cries it ruins it for countless of other players.
It's funny that endgame dungeons required you to have high-level gears, and high-level gears required tomes from endgame dungeons. what a joke.
Castrum is the only place to farm tomes for undergeared players (WP gives too low tomes and AK is too hard). nerfing rewards from Castrum will be a door slam to new players who reaches 50.
i hope they dont nerf it. it would really suck. everyone likes it the way it is.
Are they nerfing it by making it harder, or are they nerfing it by preventing exploiting blind spots?
Because those are 2 different things. I get speed runs, but it feels like an exploit when you can avoid fighting a huge portion of the run.
Having to fight more mobs doesn't mean a harder gear check, it just means a few extra minutes added to the fight.
Try doing wanderers with AF geared DDs. I have heard people rage quit on the 2nd boss because the adds build up. I have been seeing new players in 2.0 with level 20 rings, AF gear, and level 50 trying to do Wanderer's Palace/Hydra. It just does not work. You can do Castrum with that gear set, but Wanderers is iffy. Unless you get carried along by other players. I help in a good bit of LS with newer players because legacy members on my server are encouraged to lend a hand out which is great. Most of them going duty finder with other new players say people RQ on pudding boss and the King way too often.
I don't care if they nerf it like Amdapor where mobs create barriers in front of the boss spots. Yet to make it harder on newer players....who have to do it to complete storyline seems a little unfair.
And where else are you supposed to get your gear? Can't use GC gear because it requires AK to be completed. Are you telling me that the intended design was to grind the story dungeon until you can get lvl 70 gear, then run a WP to get lvl 55 gear, then run AK to get lvl 60 gear and to unlock the GC rank to get lvl 50 gear? Crafted lvl 50 gear? Requires drops from the lvl 50 (not story) dungeons.
I did this last night in my AF WAR with two DDs (1 in AF, the other spiritbinding for crying out loud) with a DF group. We wiped once on the second boss b/c the healer couldn't get out of the way fast enough on the charge. Also, unless DD gear is simply fathoms different than the tank gear dropped, only 2 pieces offer 2 more defense for a whopping 4 defense increase compared to my AF. Some of the stats are trade offs, but there is nothing on the Vermilion set that screams 'instant replacement for AF piece'. I'm so tired of seeing this 'your gear won't work here!' in non-raid lv 50 dungeons when the players are wearing lv 45+ gear. People wearing lv 25 rings and gear in a lv 50 I can totally understand asking to improve their gear. But the lv 45/50 AF pieces were meant to be starter dungeon gear and WP is most definitely not a hard dungeon at all.
Why are you even talking about this, story line instances will never ever get a nerf or rebalance, because they are that for the story, how you also use them for endgame is your own business, but ultimately they are for new players, geared or ungeared.
Farm garuda like a real man or woman. You kill her in 8 minutes, get 15 Philo and 7 Mythology.
It's so ridiculous that people think DL gear should basically be handed out for doing the easiest level 50 dungeon in the game.
Hopefully they'll halve the number of philosophy to drop from it. It's stupid that it's one of the fastest ways to get what is basically the 2nd best gearset in the game (technical 3rd but that's splitting hairs.)
Not that they want it handed to them. The problem is that this isn't the MMO age of the early millenium, not as many people are too fond of the idea of taking an absurd amount of time for one or two pieces of gear.
Not that I want it instantly either, but I would like to be able to get at least one piece within a reasonable amount of time.
lol...yes, Garuda pugs have a high success rate!
I'm hoping they won't, because you get nothing else from the dungeon, and these groups are literally carrying the new players having to pug their end of the story along.Quote:

Could be the difference of servers. I have had to take several newer players through to grab some gear I didn't say that WP was difficult, I said that players on my server are having issues and RQ because of "Add build up" on the boss stages. Which is an issue of Damage or not knowing their classes. I cleared it just fine on several runs. Re-read. I didn't even say that WP gear was better than AF.
I said you can clear Castrum with basic AF armor and then you grind different instances for tomestones to gain DL. Castrum is one of them you don't need to "buy" any real gear for because its handed to you in the storyline. Should it give you that many tomestones? *shrugs* Who am I to tell SE what to do? Should they make it speed-run proof? Probably. Just don't make it super hard on newer players trying to gear up for upcoming content.
There's few trash you can skip in Castrum. What really speeds up Castrum is using the cannons. They wouldn't be there if they didn't want you using them.
