Simplified - Less gear slots, less aggro types, less materia, simpler monster A.I, etc. In-depth battle mechanics are replaced with things like gear-dye and housing. Can't even have a decent character limit on the forums.
Fluid - FATE & Duty Finder is everything. Through claiming and instance mechanics, competition has been removed. Gone are the days of waiting for anything (unless you're a DD in Duty Finder).
Casual - Effortless progression. Enemies are 5x larger but 5x easier. Ease of game-play actually breaks illusion of achievement, even for casuals. 99% of the open-world content can literally be beaten with a chocobo.
Hardcore niche - Item level, cross-class, and a few difficult fights. It's hard to say how difficult it will get, but there is definitely a desire to have something in there for the hardcore players. PvP included in the meantime.

Casual? Some aspects yes but once you get to around 30 the leveling curve goes up ( making it hard to get 1 level a day even) Unless you pour hours of time into it then yes.
Hardcore? the first 30 levels are Casual I can agree with you on that much, after that it becomes less causal ( of course you can still be casual it will just take a while for you to get 1 level)
That's how I personally feel as a player my highest is 38 ACN. -

Actually that is correct.
The game is GW2 type, in which mechanics are simple and replace with "mem"canics. Instead options, they are replace with puzzles.
Most battle revolves around tricks that a player needs to figure out and react to, or as we know it, circle syndrome. This is very casual in concept, and only tests motor skills more then it does connotative abilities. Sure there is nessary for extreme concentration, and perfection, but it is much like playing tetris at lvl 50 instead of lvl 5.
If I ask you to play DDR, it's merely a movement and rhythm game. Then I ask you to do it drunk, then I ask you to do it drunk while answering math question. Then I ask you if you make a mistake you slap yourself. It doesn't change the movement and rhythm, the simple math question, or the drinking, it's just pressure to make you lose easier.
It is not very "hardcore" or "gamer" in nature. This is very casual thinking. And everything reflects that, from class balance, to equipment, etc.
ARR has very very "basic" math in all manner of the term. They just keep piling on speed, punishment, and multi-tasking.
It's the type of gameplay that is exactly put into "casual" game development. -

I've seen and done enough to have valid opinions without having to personally have a 50 battle class. Besides, having one or two 50's doesn't exactly put anyone at the apex of hardcore opinions.

Meanwhile I'm enjoying the heck out of this game, taking it as a slower pace, and Im excited for all the things that will be introduced into Patch 2.1 and beyond. I'm sure that these patches will be generating content faster than I can keep up with, but I do feel sorry for those who burn through content as their source of fun. They might burn themselves out right quick. -

I can understand the OP's points, but remember that this game is kind of a rush due to 1.0 failure, so at this moment their best bet would be focusing on creating a standard MMORPG first, then start the process of polishing details later.
Personally I'm not really satisfied with this yet, and sometimes even feel frustrated... but it's still too soon to give up on, and I'll definitely be staying for the next several months before considering another game. -

Gear slots are the same as v.1.0, as well as materia. In depth battle mechanics are there, you just haven't leveled your DoW or DoM classes adequately enough to experience them, wait until you fight Garuda, even the story mode version is quite challenging, as well as higher level dungeons such as wanderer's palace and aurum vale. Don't be setting false expectations. There is nothing hard about any of the dungeons / bosses you mentioned. The first even remote PvE challenge you're going to have in this game is AK if you do it as a fresh 50 in AF gear. Even then, wasn't that hard for my static. Died a few times on demonwall until people stopped getting knocked off then ez.
Ifrits yawn, garuda a bit better... Finally gets hard at Titan.
Though none of that is what bothers me about this game. What really irks me is the fact there is zero outdoor content for a 50, I have to wait 30+ mins in DF WITH A FULL PARTY.... And outside of leveling alts there really isn't a whole lot to do yet as a 50. Mind you its a fresh MMO and this is expected... I just hope they arn't going entirely themepark style with EVERYTHING from here on being instanced queue crap. Bring the immersive back please, if I wanted to play WoW, I'd reinstall it. -

I like progression vs time, it means I can do things in life and still keep up with the majority. I can come home at 5, cook / clean and at 8 play for two hours and get what I want to in.
I am brand new to this environment kind of fighting. In 11 there wasn't much to it, and in 1.0 it was sort of introduced. But having a tougher boss in general I think pushes for a player to have certain gear to perform well rather than a player who is skilled and knows the environment hazards to avoid, which to me is more important shows a player knows his / her role rather than played for two days straight.
Only thing I'm not big on is the gear progression, and that's because I miss the "Enhances" to special items, but I understand it can create a single piece to be a staple, But I understand spell speed replaces a lot of "Reduces x recast" and traits replace "Enhances" So i guess it's just a matter of looking at the right perspective.

Not all that pleased with the standardized direction. I think we sacrificed a lot of good things just to keep things mechanically basic. A lot of the themes and designs are a bit overblown and corny. There's nothing really keeping me invested in the world at large.
But I will admit they've done well with what they've set up. I just don't know how long it will hold my interest. -

When the "rush is over" you see things like:
- Finding a hard time doing FATEs due to very little people around to them them with= Time consuming
- Duty Finder will have a hard time finding people due to people not in that level range to do it ( people won't do low level dungeon while being high level 9 times out of 10)
- Levequests are limited (though I have 90 currently) they go fast, and with the how many you get a day you will run out.
The only things you can do is rely on your free company to help push you through those hard levels ( where nobody is around). -

I was into this game for a short time...I am currently lvl 37 and I haven't played in days. As far as why not? Well it's become a chore to lvl..especially knowing I have to grind other classes for specific abilities. The dungeons are long and boring and I have no desire to farm the 2 at the end for tokens. Chances are I will casually finish out the story at my own pace. Prob drop the game after first paid month. Sad really I was expecting a bit more from this game. Perhaps once they add more content/pvp I will give it another go. Till then I'll go back to the CURRENTLY superior game. WoW.

It is quite easy to get 1 class/job to 50. 3 Days is simply someone who had a lot of time and luck in those last 5 levels.
It will not be so for the second, third, or fourth 50. I have all the time in the world an no fate grinding is getting me a second 50 faster.

...Yeah...I am agreeing a little bit here. I unlocked Brayflox Longstop this morning and was really waiting to see what new Dungeon Mechanic was going to show up here that I had to figure out and was underwhelmed to say the least. The Tank got to pull the dragon out of the green slime so he did not heal while we all just stayed out of the green slime...oh...no...can't figure that out! The Dungeon was still fun and I still enjoy the game, I just hope that they start testing us a little bit more...I think we can handle it. There is nothing wrong with getting "stuck" on a Dungeon for a little while until you figure it out. But I guess with all the lvl 50's running around everything is on the NET anyway so there goes that idea.
