I'd rather not have to swim through a sea of chocobos standing on every quest NPC.
they don't want to because something about it breaking immersion. never mind the fact that there are a lot of other things square has turned a blind eye to that break immersion like falling from any distance and still having 1 health, getting off your mount and it running away a few feet only to disappear, the fact that NPCs start to walk away and disappear as well.
I disagree, there is plenty of npc blocking now, no need to add huge mounts.
Just click the button. if your questing, put it on a hot key. Not that hard...
Not like people don't do this ANYWAYS, with their huge-sized avatars standing directly on the NPC's.
Sorry, but this is not a very good reason to disable something that would add to player convenience. Having to dismount to turn in/accept quests and then re-mount is pretty silly. And ya, has nothing to do with immersion, either. I can easily think of 100 things that SE allows which doesn't help immersion.
Can't you just click the quest icon above the NPC? Pretty hard to block that. Not that I have any strong feelings one way or the other. Not hard to click a button to dismount.
I don't mind the dismount itself, however the whistle noise whenever you mount or dismount is terribly annoying. Hope they fix it so you only hear your own mount noise.
Signed and Agreed! damn that gets aggravating real quick...im only a cpl feet above the npc on my pretty little chocobo, why cant i talk to them...
Last thing we need is people talking to NPC's on their mounts.

Yea it would streamline things if we could talk to NPC's mounted. A simple shift click could fix the NPC being covered up by mounts.
There's an easy fix for this though. Make the necessary NPC's (the ones that will see the most traffic from players) permanent fixtures. Models that cannot be trotted upon by Chocobo nor Courel mount alike. Lord knows they're already good enough at making impenetrable invisible walls.
I couldn't help but laugh long and hard at this because you saw (and as this proves still see) this a lot with new content and holidays in WoW. Regardless, It really wasn't much of a problem and I often find myself riding up to npc trying turn in quest only to be fed an error. It's a niggling little annoyance that I can largely ignore, and would compromise simply with an auto-dismount option for talking to npc or using an ability.
Now what's really annoying is that when a group TP is sent out you'll miss it if you're mounted. I can understand if they don't want people TP'ing into towns mounted, but at least give us a little confirmation box while on the mount so we can then dismount and accept it.
They'v explained this before- it's a complicated situation. Many of the dialogues and cutscenes use your character in it's present state when you talk to them, and thus if you're mounted it can create issues. So it's not something they can just turn on- it would require a fair bit of work to adjust, otherwise it would have to be limited to only NPCs that just talk and don't use the camera / do cutscenes.
No way. Don't even waste your time asking for that feature, it will never happen
Also, learn to stop at 2 meters from the npc, not only to leave it clear for others, but also because some people are watching the npc in first person to see their animation synched with the text box.
Ha, if you can also stop to get inside houses on your mount, it will be cool, use your sprint then if you're late.
I personally stop my chocobo at the stables where he'll find all comfort even if it's for a couple of minutes.
If I was on Coeurl, I leave him to his freedom before crowded areas as he could become quite nervous.
now if they did an auto-dismont when talking to the npc...yea i am all for that
Signed. I hate having to get off my mount to talk to an NPC.
I sort of just wish when you entered a camp or outpost, you auto-dismounted your mount. In an earlier post, someone mentioned immersion.
It totally breaks my immersion that half the buildings I walk into are full of giant birds or leopard-monsters, or the fact all the outposts would become feathery-oriented Running of the Chocobos for NPCs. No wonder all of them dislike adventurers so much!
The smell. Can you imagine the smell?
But that's just my opinion! :D
What a lazy request OP
It's probably the way you talk to NPCs in this game that's gonna crash while mounting or something. All right click interactions are quite different from other MMOs, your hotkeys disappear, lose control of character (hopefully no mobs are chasing you), camera angle forced to the intended angle, etc. I don't think it's gonna be easy to change all of this.
Dismounting, on the other hand is quite similar from what we know. Since you can right click or press hotkey to dismount, the mechanic is probably the same thing. Forced dismount while talking to NPC or casting on a mount shouldn't be hard to implement into this game.
If I can queue and enter a dungeon using the Doodoo Finder on my mount... dot dot dot.
This game likes us to be annoyed by TINY things that can make quality of life easier. Like Brunt Force. Why the hell shouldn't that just be automatic after getting Chain 4? I REALLY need to press a button?
Oh, it really separates the good players from the bad ones who can dismount and mount, amirite?
Swarmed quest givers already happen. Adding mounts to it isn't going to change anything, so long as the icon is above the head of the NPC, you shouldn't have a problem. And if you do, PEBKAC.
How can people use the mounts blocking npcs as an excuse when people can have a chocobo companion out, as well as a pet if you're smn/sch, and a minion if you like just for shits and giggles. Some people come up with such silly reasons, it's not that hard to hit tab or press x on your controller to target an npc that's being blocked by a person.
I agree with this idea. Also, you all know if you hold "X" on your keyboard down, it temporarily removes player names from the screen and allows you to click through them if an NPC is being crowded right?
THe mount system is still broken. It automatically rejects anything when your mounted. Like if your in a party and someone party teleports...you automatically reject it..cause your mounted...thats annoying.
The immersion excuse is weak and feeble.
No, absolutely not.
