To the person in charge of scheduling maintenance

I was just curious who exactly you were considering when you scheduled these maintenance times? You posted it as PDT 5pm-3am. For everyone in the US and Canada, you pretty much just said "We're gonna take the whole day from you".

I feel as if this whole FFXIV experience has been one occurrence after another where the customer is always considered last. We all know this game is great, but maybe just once you could think of us.

they live in japan - they go to work on japan time - 5pm PDT is 7am japan time, the beginning of the work day

They don't all live in Japan. There are data centers here, where at least some of the upgrades are going to have to happen.

Data centres might be in NA but the people working on them are living in Japan, they wont go and employ a full team in the US lol

Well, which time zone do you want to piss off by having downtime? Japan? Europe? You're complaining that the servers are down from 5pm-3am for you, in Japan they are down from 10am till 8pm, as it's SE it'll probably over-run so the Japanese players probably won't be able to play at all that day.

That is no excuse. A planned maintenance is just that, a planned maintenance. It has to take the customers into the equation when determining the best time. This is different from emergencies.

However, there isn't really a good time for NA/EU due to different time zones, but a compromise can be found at 1am PDT as not many Europeans play during the morning.

So they should prioritise everything around US time?

Yeah because that's fair.

Considering that WoW gives a big F U in their maintenance times to Oceanic consumers I guess it is only fair when the favor is returned.

Jesus just suck it up, us oceanic/asian players were having maintenance from 6pm to 3am for YEARS! The world is NOT just America!

Oh ok, so they are being extremely inconsiderate to their JP players as well. Way to further prove my point. This is a PLANNED maintenance. They can choose any time they want, and rather than inconvenience their own employees, they are going to inconvenience millions of players who have already been let down on their purchase up to this point.

You know the WHOLE WORLD play this game ? Ofcourse somebody gets the bal with these planned maintenance. If the times were in you favor , did you still make this thread ? No , ofcourse not.

I dont care when they start maintenance. I just hope they fix this mess and that we can play normally.

Well I am EDT and am not thrilled about the maintenance time, what I can say is if your going to have to take a GLOBAL game down for 10hours, some country/time zone is going to get it worse than others.

JP miss day and early evening (and potentially hole evening if everyone floods login the second it ends)
EU likely has it the best as they will be sleeping for a large amount of it.
NA loses one evening of play and the login flood should be over by the time we log in.

Point is we are all losing 10hrs of game time, and I am sure SE had to account for the length of time, their work schedules, and server loads when scheduling.

And really, lets be fully honest here, if they pushed it back a few hours to be nice to the PST/NA players, most of us would be stuck in 1017 anyways, so be happy they are getting it fixed so you can play when you want to play

Its a 10 hour maintenance, out of a 24 hour day. When would be a better time? That's almost half a day, no matter when they stuck it, it would be effecting everyone. I figure just get the thing over with.

Unbelievable. Every other country for every American MMO gets stiffed with this problem on a weekly basis. But then, every world map you've ever seen probably just has "HERE BE DRAGONS" scrawled across everything that wasn't North America, so I guess it's not entirely your fault.

I take it all back. It has to be your fault. Your entire country would have fallen apart by now if everyone was this daft.

Ugh, just my luck. Of course its Tuesday night from 7pm to 5am (cst). Work 12 hour shifts all week 7am to 7pm. Tuesday night was my one night off when I switch from days to nights. My plan was to stay up all night and get a good 10-12 hour marathon session in. Now I'll be up all night with absolutely nothing to do. Couldn't have been tonight or Wednesday night.

Not really complaining since this needs to be done. Just sharing my personal story of bad luck and frustration.

That's 9pm to 7am where I am in Canada. A bit of a bummer that it'll be an early night, but the bulk of it is when I'm sleeping.

Couldn't have turned out much better for me. Maybe 11-9 but oh well.

They're based in Japan. Can't expect them to cater to NA

Well, you know, look at the bright side: at least you don't have to resort to timezone converters 8 out of every 10 times a maintenance schedule is posted. Because, apparently, everybody who's not in Japan, lives in the mighty USSA, in its Pacific region to be more precise.

wow complain you can't get in to servers then when they announce the time to resolve complain some more.

A this time I would like to apologies to those fine people who are working 24 hour days trying to resolve these issues who have had various idiots who in some way found it was necessary to step over the line I would like to assure not every American player is a dirtbag or a hostile child with spoiled behavior keep up the good work and do maintenance any way you please so those who don't act like 2 year olds in a walmart toy section saying mommy mommy i want it now.

thank you Yoshi and the rest of the Dev team at FFxiv i know its been bumpy ride and resolution is near...

The only people complaining about this is people that work full time and people that play till 5am everyone else is fine with the maintenance.

Doesn't matter because we, in the US, wouldn't be able to log in during prime time anyway. I say do it and get it done in the hopes it will fix the problems.

I'm just glad they're finally taking the time to fix things. I'd much rather have a scheduled maintenance (regardless of the time) than to keep having unscheduled maintenance that kicks me off the game constantly. Besides, this will force me to get up and walk away from the game for a while to do other things I've been putting off for probably far too long! :D

For the record, the maintenance will start at 7PM for me, so it's prime play time I'll be missing out on as well. Like I said, though, I don't mind. It's not like it's the first maintenance we've ever been through and it definitely won't be the last!

I'm honestly in disbelief that anyone is upset over the time in which they're scheduling maintenance given the fact that many people cannot even log into the game.

All I want is for them to employ their fixes. Why on earth would you care what time they schedule this so long as they fix the problems at hand! Good grief.

Long maintenance sucks, yep. But I'd take a 24 hour maintenance over continuing with the current crap.

Sounds like the same people that are self righteous enough to stay logged in for 3 days straight because they don't like trying to get into the game meanwhile preventing other people from playing.

one night of your life isn't going to end it. You made it this far through your life without FFXIV, you can make one more night.

Who cares about maint times. Just be happy that they are trying to fix the issues that we are ALL experiencing. As I have stated a bunch of times, I am happy that all I have to deal with are congestion issues and not buggy/lacking content. :)

You sound like you should be entitled to some special exception for playing the game. It's maintenance. Relax.

On eastern coast, that's 8pm to 6am. Sucks that i can't get any nightly gaming in but i'll fire another game and wait for this to be fixed. WORSE is that you are complaining about a maintenance that is being done on the sole reason to fix the 1017 and character creation issues!

I remember reading tons of oceanic players on different games based out of the United States rail about this for years and years. I don't think I once saw someone say, "The world doesn't center around Australia!"

It's neat seeing where other cultures jump to when considering your culture. Me? I personally don't give a damn when they do their maintenance. I have other things I can/must do beside playing this game.

The one thing I get from reading this thread is that there is a lot of overtired grumpy-bums here who could all use some extra sleep.

Thankfully on Wednesday we'll have the opportunity!!

It's great time for the UK, 1am to 11am. I'll be in bed and working so I wont even notice it

no matter when the schedule the maintenance, it's going to be disruptive to a lot of people. You people complaining about the timing make me sick and the logic is appalling. It's a 9 hour maintenance. odds are it's going to affect you in some way no matter where you live.

CAN EVERYONE JUST BE HAPPY THAT WE ALL MAY BE ABLE TO LOG ON AFTER THIS MAINT.?

It's not like many people can "log-on" anyways, so what difference does it make what time they do it?
