Lancer Equipment

This has probably been mentioned a million times but I haven't seen any posts under here...

Why did Yoshi decide that when the Light metal armors drop (GLA/PLD, MRD/WAR, LNC/DRG) Why are lancer refused the ability to lot and instead are forced to either admit defeat and not get it from the GLA/MRD anyway but then have to fight for it from the Thm Cnj and any other class that want it for the sake of it...

I know the system is set to benefit certain classes (like Arc get priority on Dex only equipment) but some of those body's have good stats on for Lnc... Why not allow them to at least 'Need' on the item so they get priority over the people who cannot even equip -.-;

Yes. This is a big pile of **** to be honest.

In a 25 - 30 dungeon. A chest drops. I'm all happy cause its an upgrade, nice defense stats, dps stats on it. Says mrd, gld, war, pld, lnc, drg. Need is greyed out. Only greed and pass are avaialble. I'm forced to choose greed and tank gets to Need on it.

Whats the point of listing LNC/DRG on the armor when you're going to lock DRG/LNC out of rolling on the stuff? 99.9% of every tank in a duty finder is going to hit Need, whether upgrade or not. This pretty much means our best upgrades aren't available to us and we're forced to make do with the poor pug/mnk/archer/brd leather.

Eh, 2pairs of the same feet popped up in different chest in a run today. Pld lotted "Need" on both pairs~

It's kinda dumb that Lnc/Drg can't "Need" gear there listed on, mean while a tank can lot the same item in one run twice.

Looks like a glaring mistake to me.

If there is going to be a "light mail" armor (or whatever you call GLA/PLD, MRD/WAR, LNC/DRG armor), then that is going to be the best armor for a LNC/DRG. Or at least the best for a LNC/DRG that cares about defense. It's going to be 2nd best (again, assuming care about defense) for GLA/PLD, MRD/WAR because they have access to the heavier stuff that doesn't list LNC/DRG. So it's like the class who needs it *MORE* can't roll Need while the classes that it's merely OK for can do so.

Hope they fix it soon. And that's said from someone playing WAR primarily, not LNC/DRG. :)

I'm a lvl 27 LNC and i wear lvl 26 (it might be 24 not 100%) iron scale armor head to toe thats higher in def,mag def, and stats then the rare drops i find in dungeons.

Also. Theres a vendor in one of the big quest hubs in south shroud that sells scale armor for 20 - 23. BiS for dragoon unless can get dungeon gear.
Vendor in Southern Thanalan, Forgotten Springs, that sells scale armor for level 32, BiS for dragoon as well, unless can get dungeon gear.

I agree this is total BS. I ran Brayflox 4 time today and each time the same piece of gear dropped that was a big upgrade for me and what does the tank do? Needs every effing time!!! His excuse? "It's not meant for you" Makes me want to pull my hair out!

well either they let us roll need or they don't let us wear it at all

it's the best upgrade for lancer yet we can't roll for it and the one who don't need it they roll for it and then they just leave it in the armory chest :D

Agreed, we need a fix here fast!

Classes hit need regardless of if the actually need it or not, and im not to botherd providing i dont need it, but when i cant with something i do need thats just wrong!

I would love to be able to "NEED" the higher def gear for my LNC. I am currently level 32 and have not seen a DPS body fall since level 16. I had a few of the Tank/LNC drop but I had no shot at them. Now my gear is poor and I am having trouble with level 30 quest. There are a lot of solo instances and LNC would benefit from this better high def gear. Please fix, thank you.

Thanks for this! I noticed the vendor is missing Steel Scale Greaves though. In fact the vendor doesn't have any feet armor at all.

Yes, its quite derpy.

Theres a vendor in every higher level area for that level tier with white gear thats an upgrade from previous. After the 32 scale armor set in forgotten sprints, Camp Dragonhead in Coerthas or however its spelled has a merchant with the 40 or was it 42 scale armor. It might of been a little lower level, then in Mor Dhona Toll town, theres scale armor for 46.

But yeah. I have seen absolutely ZERO boot slot scale armor from any of the vendors, but I have seen them from the quests. But hey, filling up every slot but boots with updated gear isn't bad, granted, you can also get the same gear, just alot later mind you, from quests. Personally I upgrade sooner and just get the money tins you can sell to the vendors instead, covers about 50 - 75%

*** Also since you get the easy lvl45 Artifact gear, all slots but belt and Chest ( There is no belt peice btw. ) you can just get the 46 chest to tide you over til 50 artifact piece.

It anoys me that we never get an aknowledgment from square enix on subjects like this. How are we to know if this is something there looking into or if its intentional somehow? A error like this can make or break the whole game for some ppl. I mean... spending 100's of hours to find that when a party your in is rewarded with something that is of use to a dragoon, you cant even have a fair shot a it.

Please fix!

Any word if this will be addressed during maintenance?

This happened to me twice today on one Brayflox run. Two pieces of the aetherial scalemail dropped and I couldn't need on either piece.

and i cant need on it
luckily my "greed roll" have the largest no.
ppl try to report in the Bug forum, and the mod just move the thread stating insufficient information

Maybe a silly question, I'm new to FF and didn't play 1.0. I play a Glad btw.

Do Glad's / Lancers use the same equipment or is this the equivalent to a Glad rolling need on something that's of an inferior toughness (e.g Glad rolling on leather gear).

Is all of the loot bind on pickup? Could I need roll for a lancer to give it to them if they find that they can't roll on an upgrade?

The issue with Lancer Gear seems strange. Essentially some of the most durable (highest defence) DoW gear can be worn only by GLA and MRD (example), while some have LNC added (example), but the Lancers are not able to roll need on them. So it's either a case of the LNC being a mistake on the gear and they shouldn't be able to use them (thus can't need), or the LNC is missing on the other pieces and the need option on rolling on them needs to be fixed.

As for loot being BoP I have no clue, have never tried to trade items from dungeons, or any items at all.

As a tank I will say that its pretty crappy. Medium armors should not allow me to roll need on. And I pass if there is a LNC in the group. Actually, I run with a ARC/SUM and Me, so we usually try not to hose over the other random DPS we get. But man... I am about to stop inviting LNC'ers in our group. The general community of them is noticeably rude and challenging to play with. I have had 3 tell me that they were going to tank the run, and try with all their might to not follow the marks and pull agro just to tank "something". I'm to the point of letting them get the mob and then our healer lets em die.

Same here. Did Brayflox on my Dragoon got my hopes up when I saw the scale drop and STILL could not roll need on scale that had DPS stats on it that was a huge upgrade over what I'm wearing. Is this ever going to get fixed?

Love it how people think everyone playing a certain class is the same way. I think this applies mostly to new people. I know as a Lancer that i certainly am not a tank and thus have to DPS whatever the Tank is aggroing. If people dont do that then obviously they need to learn their place.

Any news on a fix?

1000% This. I'm really getting tired of losing out on this gear because I can't hit Need. It's bad enough that 90% of the quests offer LNC/DRG only the generic DoW gear instead of the more class specific gear the tanks get. I was severely let down when I ran a quest that ended in body gear and PLD/GLD/MRD/WAR got a HIGH Def body armor with superior STR AND a Crit Hit Rate+ and the only option for LNC/DRG was a generic DoW leather body with much less STR and only a Skill Speed+ to make it close to worthwhile. When I'm on my own I find myself downgrading to some of the lower level but higher Def scale armors and sacrificing damage for survivability.

I think you are all incorrect. You are unable to roll on equipment you already have. I know because it happend to me on a unique lance in Haukke Manor on 9/5. So whoever said that the glad rolled "need" on the same piece of equipment twice is incorrect. And also, im not sure if you are all just getting in bad groups but I have always played with tanks and healers who check with me if I need a piece of equipment before they decide to roll or not. And I also let them know if the equipment is junk for me so that they can roll and pick it up if they decide to play a DoW class later on. Try communicating with your party. It has always worked out for me.

just drop a head gear that have +critical chance, and the def is way better than my 10 level lower gear, and still cant roll it

Same. I know the issue is old already, from a thread I did read long ago. I thought it was fixed until I start my own lancer and notice the gears my class could wear had no access to the "need" button and I had to roll like every person who can't wear it. This is a very frustrating issue. I know dragoon isn't a very popular class and it's probably why square doesn't bother to fix such a simple matter. But guess what.... if you didn't intend to fix looting bug from battle classes... maybe you shouldn't have create them!

And I know the 2nd partit's not the right thread. But the heavy gears for dragoon are really terribly design compare to those made by weaver and leathercraft. Did you seriously check the stat from a gear made from metal to a weaver / leather one?
Seriously ? Some designer need a spank here. Do you really believe a tank will go for a non "mrd/war/gld/pld" over a mrd/war/gld/pld/lnc/drg" one? Same stat but the 2nd one have less defense... Which mean a dragoon will have more defense but less attack if he wears it. And a tank will have less defense....
You could have just created a piece of it's own for drg/lnc as I'm sure you are planning to implement heavy gear dps classes in the futur.... Skip the "wearable" by tank and just make a piece of it's own for heavy classes. As it is now... not only it's bugged but it's a sad design.
