Login restrictions gotta go, make a real q system

I spent 3 hours yesterday pressing x and refreshing my client to get in game. I would rather be stuck in queue for 3 hours with 3000 people in front of me then to have to go through what I did yesterday. This needs to be changed ASAP.

Oh, and I actually got in the q for times only to be kicked back out one of which I was 3rd in q.

Just create a proper queue system please

A proper queue system is dependent on ways to get people OFF the servers, which this game doesn't have. There are no AFK timers and people who log out are actively punished for it. There's a huge incentive to leave your character logged in all day, even when not playing.

That's rotten luck then. I left my character logged in all day and I'm avoiding instances to not have to deal with queues or login restrictions. Haven't been booted yet.

Am I the only one who has seen a queue pop up? It happened late on Saturday had about 30ish people in queue. Sunday was weird though, It popped a queue waiting page, then disappeared to give me the 'this world is currently full' error.

Need queue system bad this is a MMO basic. But why don't they add more servers and more NA worlds to help. After you add worlds offer transfers

I wonder what SE is going to do for launch. Most people are in right now for EA, but what about those people coming in for launch date tomorrow? After buying the game, installing it and getting ready for amazement, they are presented with World is Full for 3hrs. They are going to be more pissed then we are now. Some may even try and take the game back and my legitimately be able to get a full refund after opening the game and giving a good explanation.

Personally I would like to know why the queue inconsistently pops up. Maybe that's what the maintenance to fix the improper configuration last night was for? It sort of boggles my mind as to why the queue just doesn't work all the time.

From what I observed the queue only opens up when there is actually space. If the server is full the queue doesn't function at all. Why it's designed that way is anyone's guess.

The queue seems to be a mechanism that throttles the logins and allows a couple people on every second until everyone in the queue gets brought in or the server cap is reached. (which will error the remaining people in the queue when they try to get in) This would explain why sometimes I'm in the 300s/1000s and get in within 10 seconds.

When the server cap is reached, you get the message stating that the server is full.

They seem to be lifting the caps slowly every 20-40 minutes.

That doesn't have anything to do with the queue system itself though, does it? AFKers not being kicked from the servers is a problem, but it's a problem regardless of whether or not there's a queue.

The way it works right now, player A could try to get in the game for hours without success whereas player B could get in at the first try. I think it's safe to say that this "method" is less than optimal.

Do you think a queue where people wait in line for 5 hours with [only] like 400 players in front of them would be received any better than what they have now?

For any queue to be good, you need a way to actually move that queue along (by servicing the people at the front of the queue or who made it in, and then kicking them out to make room for more). Imagine this as a restaurant that let people loiter at the table for hours/days after they buy their one meal. There is no queue that would fix that restaurant.

Well, I'd like it better that people are standing in line based on arrival time instead of everyone trying to bumrush the locked door.

I agree afkers gotta get kicked, but it's a seperate issue and deserves its own thread.

People including myself, would spend days logged into ffxi without logging out. That's a big issue. I also agree a huge queue> standing there just pounding the enter server over and over.

I alt tabbed last night to show my friend a SS. Upon trying to tab back in I crashed and was back to pounding the server door lol. So annoying.

There are 3 critical things that SE has to fix/implement soon to resolve several of their login issues.

#1 Implement kicking people AFK 30 to 60 minutes so concurrent connections drop down. No one should be logged on all night just so they can avoid queuing the next day.
#2 Implement a Queue system for the servers so people have an idea how long wait times are for certain servers
#3 Implement the Transfer server system and not wait 2 to 3 weeks. Right now Several servers are locked for new players; Leviathan is one of them. We would transfer off the server even if we had to pay to however no one wants to restart characters because there are still about a dozen of our friends who cannot create characters on the server. Let us transfer now and we will free up Leviathan. Win Win because several other FCs have many more members that are trying to get on Leviathan and cannot.

It's a circle right now and to be honest with you, I'm at work with my character afk at home and I don't feel guilty in the slightest.(That and my wife is home using him for gathering every once in a while) Its not my fault that servers aren't allowing new people in and I don't want to come home from a long day of work to play Enter button simulator 1017. I'd log out if they had a queue system, even if it was slow. But right now the way its set up is that I will be heavily punished if I log out so I won't.

But yeah, an auto kick feature would be fine as long as it was set at like 30 minutes or something. Too low and I risk losing my game while I eat dinner or something.

Actually fatigue was to slow people down so they wouldn't get to far ahead of the casual players. But I guess an adverse affect could be people logging off. By that logic you could say they made 1.0 boring to get people to log off.
