Market Wards Population Fix?

What if they made a free teleport between wards, but you could only exit through the ward you entered? (So you don't get a free teleport to another city, but access to the wards.)
From within the wards, go to the door where it asks you if you want to leave or search, but also have the option "Teleport Limsa/Gridania Ward," where you can park your retainer and search items there.
That would get retainers up in the other cities again, but have them accessible from all cities.

Thoughts?

just replace the damn wards with AH

Or they could make it so you access the wards via aetherite and not towns and all the wards world wide are shared no seperations.

I like it .

I would really love to see the Limsa and Gridania wards populated again, but I don't think they will be any time soon unless the wards are linked somehow. Not like, one big crowded room, but easy/free access to any ward from any other ward.

And spreading out retainers from the Ul'dah wards would be nice. SO crowded in there. lol

second post because my idea is long.

I suggested a 1 zone market ward accesed by all the cities it can have a court yard (for personal bazaar) andhave all the war entereces lined up on the left and right side. each ward would have 7 floors and a person is posted you do a search much like Aion or WoW or ebay. you type out the name and price range click the one you want and get tele ported to that floor. then just walk to the stall with a star.

Also the zone can fit an AH if one is added but putting a limit on how many items can be sold 10 should be good. :) pretty much make the wards an interactive AH but also have an AH. Also fix the rooms in the ward to make placing your retainer neater. I dislike the jumbled mess I seen in some vids. It looks like an eye sore and I would perfer a neater approch. With this 1 market zone it should be easier to start in any city with out worrying about a traveling to the "popular" city for gear.

Retainers are a good idea. It was to help those who had stuff to sell but either couldn't fit it on the AH or had no money to play it on it. Instead of running your pc or game system 24/7 Which was the reason ppl who couldn't keep the stuff on had almost no way to make money, since the AH either got over supplied or no one bought the stuff.

No physical wards = no more city market

I like the 3 individual wards. They all look unique to their nation, and I think that's pretty cool.
I don't know if there would be room for all retainers in one zone.. Wouldn't that be kinda laggy?
I would prefer if they made travel easy between all 3 instead.

they would still be in seperate rooms. just a central courtyard for an AH or personal bazaars it be much like the chocobo staduim. even if they add faster travel between cities SE will make it so you need to be a certain level and do a quest to unlock it. :/ or take to long.

I would like an AH. But, I have seen something similar in Final Fantasy 11. You could basically enter anywhere and meet with others for Chocobo Racing but exit in the same area you entere'd. If they don't get an AH, this would fix the "Everyone sells stuff only in Ul'dah" problem.

that is my idea. you any city can enter this zone but only exit the city you came in from. I just don't wanna waste time traveling around when I get to play. Mostly because I will be starting in LL.

Anyway... i think something similar to the choco staduim but still have the rooms attached would serve as a nice gathering place to sell off goods vs crowding the cities with bazaars and spam shouting of selling goods. It can also be a good meeting place to trade gear or do repairs.

On a personal note, when my linkshell we're all scattered in different city's we would gather at the Chocobo Stadium and teleport together to a single location. Also, if they don't make a central "Jeuno" type city soon where ppl can sell the majority of items it's really going to hurt the other city's. Quick fix instead of an Auction House would be this solution I think.

haveing both a AH with limited postable items (FFXI had 6 i think) and haveing the retainer wards could work... but it would be redundant... id say one or the other.

then again im for a personal store from your character... and an AH... i think it works well.

at least an AH... as it is a basic foundation for many MMO's economies .. and it works well.

problem not everyone can leave their game loged on 24/7 and it was hard in ffxi to make any money from the AH if your not on alot. there also many mmo w/o AH actuslly i ran into more mmo w/o an AH then with one :)

ffxi issue is jeuno ppl only sell there and the 3 starting cities are barren. ppl made Ul'dah jeuno anjd similar thing going on. what me need really is a central market area that any city can access. It saves time on travel and is a place where ppl can meet up for repairs etc.

Coming from ffxi this was a huge pet peeve of mine. getting gear now in ffxi is pretty hard. Let alone having to travel for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as it's been a while since I've played, but weren't Bastok, Windy, Sandy, Jeuno/Whitegate, Kazham/Norg AH's all separate. Yet people still sold stuff in each of the AH's as there was a reason to be in all the towns. As I see it here, as well as a lot of people it seems, is that there is no real reason to be anywhere else bu Ul'dah as that's where the main story quest takes you. Granted everyone ended up in Jeuno, which is why it had more stuff in it's AH compared to the rest, but did they ever truly need to be linked? Oh sure it would have been easier to find the cheapest Silent Oils/Prism Powders or Sole Sushi but would you truly have wanted it to be like that? If SE wants to fix the emptiness of Limsa and Grids Market Wards they need to give people a reason to be in these two towns besides spending Guild Marks and getting Guild Support. Linking them to one specific zone is not the answer.

Each subsection (Battle, Spell, Mender, etc) needs to be capped and/or require retainers to be at a stall instead of dawdling and cluttering up the floor. Would need to enlarge the number of stalls by 2-3 times, but I think it would funnel players to the other wards once Ul'dah fills up.

I usually drop my wares at Gridania just out of principle. Surprisingly, I haven't had any problem selling stuff.

I suggest playing ffxi now. getting gear at any level was hard. You had to go to jeuno to buy it. And unless your 20 with chocobo lisens traveling not all that easy and it was time consuming. And windy was never a popular town when I played so getting gear even since ps2 days was never easy.
And eveb still gear is pricey on alot of stuff. Linking them will help out a ton and prevent an issue down the road. unless ffxi recently linked the AH's no one sells anything in the 3 nations if you do find something it was rare. On;y crystals and I'm assuning its out of habit.

Uldah right now is overpopulated because of several reasons (there are people that have problems running the game while in gridania, or uldah got so far best leves to level up fast now even broken water is overpopulated, and so on), that leads into having much more market in that city than in another. But that also remind us of another thing. We've got no central city, just like jeuno on XI. If we had that, higher level items would be there, and low level items (gear, tools, crafting maths...) will be available at starting cities. Since when you have a central city and know how the cash flow, you realize that also having a small market in lolnoob cities brings money. Uldah right now is old good jeuno. Where everyone gather. And since its SO damn easy to go anywhere, gather where all does and move from there.

Being that said, i don't like the wards. Having to look for an item, then tele to the place, then run to seek the retainer, then again to the door to search another item... AH is much more simple and user friendly.


I think they don't need to adress a problem with retainer population, but with the system of market itself and needing a huge city to gather as higher level and leave 3 periferical cities for starting adventurers.


Edit: For any that said that starting cities on XI had nothing in AH is damn wrong. Besides the fact that the only way to make money as starter is sell everything you got in you inventory, there was pretty nice NPCs to sell you gear for even level 18, and same with weapons in cities and then in selbina. Apart from that, there wasn't really anything else that you would need. That leads you to level 18-19 and forces you to go to Jeuno. To get chocobo license, unlocking subjob, and all that. But we had also a mail system. So if you couldn't find anything low level in the market you usually would ask for that in your linkshell. And someone would find it for you and send it.

Please, remember we need a mail system more than merge all market wards.

Aya i played ffxi til feb. And unless they did linked the AH. no gear was sold in any of the home nations ppl only sold in jeuno. We don;t need a "jeuno" in ffxiv if its just gonna happen all over again. Inn ffxi i spent weeks selling and looking for gear. I'm not trying to be mean but you guys just don't get the long term effect jeuno had in ffxi. looking for gearfrom 1020 was extremely hard as ffxi aged. soon 20-50 got hard. Now ppl mostly sell 70+ And also add the fact on Lakshmi gear and spell went up. Most basic spells are 10K.

Don't tell me i'm wrong if you never seen it. I rerolled on ffxi alot. And had a few atl/mules. So i do know what I'm talking about.

Down side of a central town is ppl will stop setting up shop in the smaller towns. since "everyone" will be in the centeal town. If ppl wanna sell stuff they go to the popular places. As a game ages said hometowns don't become so populated, so ppl stop selling there. It what happen in ffxi and why they linked or were thinking about a link.

We are talking about a game that just started, not one who is been out for 9 years. Think when PS3 is released you'll have new players incoming. Starting cities will have to be for starters. And high level cities should be out of their reach.

Right now doing the sidequests and levequests you get rewarded with gear, so you dont "need" to buy it. Anyway, if they don't find it, they can still craft it since it's low level. As we did when we started. They shouldn't get everything handed. They could put up NPCs selling generical gear (not only weapons as there are already some for low levels) something like a full set for level 8, for level 11... you know what i'm talking about. Harness and subligars bring back memories.


About the spells on XI you're right, they are pricey and became overpriced with time, that's something that bugged me loads, and i did went to farm myself some spells. But here you learn them just leveling, not buying.

Well what i would like to say as a market wards improvement, is rightclick on seller in searcz, and ooptiopn to go stright to his ward, without gouing back and forth through menus ^&^

I think they did eventually link Bastok, San d'Oria and Windurst because people weren't selling much in them at all.
I feel that if people are going to be in Limsa and Gridania, the wards should be linked somehow. There have already been many people giving up and moving to Ul'dah even if they don't really want to be there.

Not sure what server you were on, but on Diabolos we had plenty of things in the starter cities AHs up to level 20 (and sometimes higher) for years. Up until maybe 2 years ago. And they always had tons of crystals, for much cheaper than Jeuno.

On that note.. it really sucks what's happening with FFXIV. I would really like to see people spread out to the other nations and sell there again. I don't like the abandonment of whole cities. I'm not going to follow people and move my characters to Ul'dah too just because it may be more convenient at the moment. I say, make the other cities more convenient to fix this.

How about simulating Internet shopping in FFXIV? You can access the "AH" anywhere (even out of town) but whatever you buy will only get delivered to your mob house. And if you buy from an AH outside of your own city, that item will take longer, maybe a few rl hours, to be delivered to your mob house

I think some people are forgetting that we don't have an auction house, and that this thread is about ideas to fix the current market wards population issues. Please stay on topic.

honestly.... wtf. I'm not even talking about the uber leet gear. And not everyone is going to want to craft, And you do have to think of a long term fix. Not for the now. Gear that you can buy shouldn;t be hard to get. Why should buying gear be "hard" because you don't want it "handed to them" Its not even getting handed gear. You still got work to get gil. Who is to say the when ppl join they are always going to do levequests? I may not do them all the time even though I ask for the reset removal.

If i do work to earn my gil. I should have to spend week or mnth looking for gear. And diablos was one of the high populated servers, I was on garuda, lakshmi when they merged and Asura. I also tried pheonix out. I had this issue since ps2 launch due to starting in windurst.

Guys when you make a suggestion instead of thinking about the short term quick fix, think of the ong term effects. Currently ffzxiv is acting like a 9 year old game. People are in Ul'dah due to the "better levequests" and the story takes ppl there. so ppl are going there since its popular. We do need some form of global system so we never run into the issue of the home nations running out of stuff in the markets.

Also don;t always assume ppl are going to level up the craft classes. I might only level fishing and maybe cooking. So don't give the "if ppl really need it they can craft it". No one wants to be forced to craft because gear is not being sold where they are at. Nor should buying gear be hard. Its not like its uber leet gear from rare mobs.

At starting cities there should be only uber leet gear, since as lolnoob you dont need anything else to level up. We miss here so many things to make this work, that we're missing the main point. Uldah is overpopulated because people at higher level don't have anywhere else to go. And since everyone is there the wards are really really crowded. Tbh i barely go to gridania, just when i have enough lnc or con marks to buy myself some needed skills. And to limsa i go just to get local leves for alchemy.

Since i started i bought gear, used it to level up, bought next gear and used my retainer to sell back that, it wasn't about the money, it was about being able to help others get that gear.

And no to be rude but oh my god, you're so funny. Elitist bubble lol. I'm also wondering how you get to talk about something you haven't seen since you don't even play and just make comparisons between what other people say about this and with FFXI.

Ok, enough with that, as constructive question: I believe people should be more attached to their homelands, i mean, more lore quests, and stuff to do in your own homeland. Bringing back the conquest will help too. Having NPCs depending on wich nation is 1st on conquest is a win-win. They should make people be busy in their own cities (i don't mean as a job or having to be there hours and hours), that would atract players to do things within their walls, such as use the market wards. Sorry to go out of you topic Nabiri but again i repeat i think they should get rid of this system and have an AH.

They need more cities just to split a bit more the people, but with things to do in the cities. Or else having another city will do nothing. The problem isn't the population at wards... the problem is the concentration of players. They shouldn't fix the wards to be all-in-one, imo. They should split us. Make us have a sense of belonging to somewhere, defend it and take pride of it.

Also would be cool to hear if SE has any plans to improve this and the general population of PCs in the other towns as well.

Aya i said that because that is the bide you are giving off. You said gear shouldn't be handed to you, and half of what you claim about ffxi is wrong. Not all gear was sold in all nations. And not all gear was buyable from npc. And honestly ffxiv can have the same thing happen. It sorta already is. I didn't enjoy spending hours hunting gear in ffxi which turned into day and weeks and mnths. I shouted for gear alot. My LS's were always busy with events or parties, or didn't reply at all. And Just an AH don't help. Retainers wre put in so ppl who couldn't run their system 24/7 to have a bazaar up. My idea also had an AH in it that you can acess from this point.

Least i put up an idea though. Abd I think mine can work if given the chance. Gear buying shouldn't be a pain in the butt. But also it shouldn't be for the lazy. (AH = lazy) I just want it less time consuming in a sense but still keep it interactive. A global system is needed, if Ishgard is "jeuno" the home nations will die out.

So question what is linking the market wards going to do to make me, or anyone else, want to go to Limsa or Grid? As it stands now the only real reason to go to these other cities is because of Guild Support for crafting or for spending Guild Marks nothing else. Granted having quests and rep for each of the starting cities will decrease this some what but is it going to change the fact that there is going to be a central market where everyone eventually ends up? Not everyone will want to move back, but there are some people who feel they need to move to Ul'dah (for many reasons) - just one of those being that the majority of retainers have moved to Ul'dah. People who want to stay in Ul'dah will stay there, but for the people who don't, this will help them. Not only people living in Limsa and Gridania, but those visiting for leves and such would have markets nearby that are actually populated. That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me. There are many other things that would need to be changed to repopulate Limsa and Gridania, but the market wards is one step in the right direction.
