FFXiV:ARR Collector's Edition for Legacy members?

So, I understand that people who bought the original game don't have to buy it again in order to play FFXIV:ARR. And I also understand that there will be a Collector's Edition release for FFXIV:ARR. So, my question is, what if us legacy members want the new Collector's Edition merchandise/bonus items/etc? Can there be a way to purchase the CE merchandise without paying for the game again... like a CE set? Or, will there be at least be a digital Collector's Edition that we can pay for to get the same digital stuff as the CE?

If none of this is possible, at least if we decide to purchase a Collectors Edition for FFXIV:ARR even though we are already a legacy member(who doesn't like final fantasy stuffs?), can we still have legacy status/1.0 characters with a new game code?

The only thing i remember them saying is everyone who have a CE can get the 2.0 CE for a lower price.

The way they doing items in 2.0 is when you add the code you get the item i think by moogle mail VS 1.0 version where you have too put the code before you made the char to get the item.

So you could just buy the CE to have it and use the item code for the items :)

^^I hope so, back when 1.0 launched i waited till i had both the collectors & standard edition codes so i could get both items before playing the game eheh

I will probably buy the 2.0 Collectors & Standard Editions for PC and PS3 regardless. Gotta buy em all!

ya someone may find it faster then i could but i remember them saying that you could add item with char already made.

I will buy the PS3 collectors ED and register a new account, but will add the items to my legacy account, does this sound right?

Yep :) sound right i have two legacy account myself i add all my item to my main legacy. Seeing how my 2# legacy account is only use as a mule and not going to end up using it anymore. Due to the fact that we have 8 char per slot and i can just send junk to a alt char by mail. I did that for years in FFXI so i don't see it being much of a issue doing it in FFXIV.

There is already a thread dealing with this, well maybe not, I think it may have got locked.
If you want something, then pay for it. You don't deserve another discount, Legacy status is your discount.
The collectors edition sans game is not a terrible idea, people would buy that.

Reread the post Thebard, you don't seem to understand what I was asking. Thanks for the others that responded ^_^; I will probably just end up buying the CE of ARR and then selling the game out of it to recoup, if any item codes are not tied to the game key.

I am just reading between the lines. You want to get CE bonuses and pay less for them, that is called getting a discount.

Some of us have the old CE and would like the new one as well, considering we get the new client for free the OP's question is completely valid. Get off your high horse much?

It should not be for Legacy members though but for everyone who owns a CE edition. I plan on buying the CE PS3 anyway...

Yeah and I said it was a good idea, but did you read that bit, no, because you are the one on a high chocobo.
Some people feel that they should have CE for less or have some special deal because they paid for the old one, but you aren't getting it so don't waste your (collective) time.

Thebard, i preordered the original CE for $79.99, and 2 months after launch the game bottomed out on amazon at $5. I think me and a lot of others who bought the original CE has paid in full for the game client, and it would be absurd to ask us to pay for it again. And based on SE's stance, they agree with me. In fact, if SE had not restructured the team and made a commitment to fix their mistake, I would have asked for my money back because at launch it was a broken game. I have also paid for the "fixed" version of 1.0 by paying their subscription and getting legacy status. And, now that 2.0 is coming out with a Collector's Edition, I want to purchase to be able to purchase the contents of the CE minus the game, which I have no need of because I have already paid for it(at its peak price, i might add). I also want to be able to keep my legacy status and characters from 1.0. And honestly, I was pretty sure upon posting this that SE would be happy that we would want to buy CE items after the first launch flopped, especially the digital bonuses because their is no cost to them to distribute them.

And bear in mind that if I purchase the CE and then sell the game out of it for a little less than the retail value, I will lose the difference and SE will lose the same difference (in potential sales if the customer bought the game at full retail from SE instead of at a discount from me), so in fact offering us a way to purchase the items since we don't need to purchase the game is mutually beneficial.

Actually thats a little bit false. For MMO's you need a registration key. If you resell it, sure you'll have the game but can't play it without an account. Thats actually the reason I never buy used MMO's.

I agree, I want to know what 1.0 CE owners will need to do to get the benefits of 2.0 CE. It seems a little pointless to have to pay full price for another activation key and another account that we might never use just to get the special item codes and fun pretties in the box. I'm willing to pay extra for the 2.0 CE but I dont need the extra account.

An "Upgrade" option would be fantastic.

I think, collectors edition sans game (and additional account) is exactly what we are asking for. My question to you is should it be the same price as CE W/game and additional account? If so, why? In my opinion it would be like buying a hamburger but being charged for cheese and bacon even though its not there and you don't want/need it.
