FF14:ARR reminds me A LOT like Aion

I don't know what it is, but what I have been watching and studing, it seems that 2.0 is going to be played like Aion, and those who played it know what I am taking about. And the 2,3,2,4,2,3,2,4,2,3,2,4,2,3,2,4 doesn't seem fun at all...... FLAME ON!

As opposed to FFXIV 1.0's 1,2,3,1,2,1,2,3? Or what? Were you activating skills with telepathic brainwaves in 1.0?

I didn't know you had to press buttons to attack. What an odd concept.

how the hell else are you gonna use skills?

Level cap is 20, not that many skills availble, less buttons to press. And... It's Alpha.
It's as easy as that. Now this thread is pointless and I'll leave it with that.

pushing 1,2,3,4,5 what ever etc. is kind of the easiest way to do skills...it really cant get any better. if we had to go into menu then submenus just to do skills...it would suck. i don't see what the fuss is about.

Ok one last time negate the button smashing, I am es speaking of the game play and the fighting style.

What fighting style is that? The one that uses skills and people hit monsters?

if you dont like the fighting style, which to me it seems like its basically the same as it has been but with tiny variations. Do you mean that you would rather it be somewhat of a hack n' slash or what?

I did like the 1.23 battling. the pace and just the way it looked i loved honestly. so i guess we'll see more as we get closer to release and when we get to test it what its actually like

Wait for cool down and redo everything again so i don't know what you talking about FFXIV 1.0 had more too it then just spam keys the only issue is that you redo the same shit over and over once you found the best action to do to kill the Boss/Mobs so at least FFXIV 1.0 there was more too it then just spam keys you had to do things in order to do the best dmg.

but then again it's only alpha so not sure why people are bitching we don't even have buff in alpha or WS that you have to start by hiting front of the mob even tho they took off the part where the 2# ws you have to hit the left of it so they took down one step but you still have to start it on it's side or front or back or w/e.

Just wait for open beta to talk how boring the game is.

I wanted to start puking when I saw someone bitching about the person showing the alpha was "a clicker" - "any serious guild would kick him" =.=

Whoever that person playing CNJ was, they were a bad player. Agroing two pigs at the same time? Not knocking back the second pig with Water to cast Stone or Aero? Not having Protect up? NOT USING HEALS?

Oh wait. Maybe they just wanted to just showcase the battle system and quest system, not 'how to play'!! Shocking, isn't it.

1.x at level 20
AA for 15 sec to build up TP -> Attack from front -> Combo from front -> AA until skill 1 is ready and TP is build up again -> repeat until mob is dead

I don't know how this was much better than the showing ARR low level fights.

well if you want more then just button mashing play age of conan, you mash a button then have to mash out a combo of buttons on most skills, and you might get a fatality.

crazy how people nick pick the tiny little things also. the guys was playing to show you how things look now. not showing uber soloing god mode skills.

If you can find a true MMO thats not like 10 or 20 more on the market then I would like to see it... But all MMO's (to date) run the same in some form or fashion

This is beyond moronic.

The combat system uses an easy action bar setup for abilities and weapon skills to accomodate fast-paced combat.
The combo system adds a dynamic to the battle allowing for movement around the target, timing of weapon skills, using particular skills together and adding effects to these skills.
The limit break system allows characters to combine their skills, creating yet another dynamic.
The incapacitation effect adds a dynamic by targeting the enemy with a particular weapon skill from a particular angle.

Is there something about 13 levels above facepalm for the comments about button mashing?

Limit breaks from the sound of it boring vs skillchain in ffxi at least in FFXI it was timing and team work and blm does magic burst and does super awesome dmg.

I'm pretty sad they taking the fact that you have to go left/right for your 2 and maybe 3 WS in 2.0 you only have to do it for the first one that just little boring to me that mean i'll stay in one stop for most of the fight like i do now lol but w/e see how that turn out.

thing about aion from what little experience I had with it was that you did the same really long combo chain over and over to maximize damage. there's no reacting to the enemy its just how well you execute your skill chain.

ffxiv 1.0 had a lot more tactics and reactiveness to it. 2.0 needs to play to that strength.

And that strength doesn't really translate well into videos, you gotta experience it.

combo system is still there can see it in the last vid.

If it gets to where 1.0 was, or further, it will have you going all over your first action bar, and maybe some macros to be doing combos and so on.

You're, as has been stated, watching low level gameplay where most of those skills aren't available.

You can always get a gamepad and set up skills for a different variation of playstyle. :D trollolol
