See guys, you won't have to just go out and kill 6 boars. THERE'S HOGLETS!!!!111
lol, I'm liking it though. Aside from how simple it will make it to skip everything and just look at the map to know where to go. And a big golden Q on top of quest mobs. A little excessive?
Yeah the post located in the forum specifically for this:

OMGSPLATMYGRAPEJUICE. *watches*
and it's video 5 :p
OMG it looks great and I am sooooo glad we wont have to grind in Party all damn day to level up anymore... did I mention I can't wait to quit wow so I can give my money to real company LOL...
You can actually change the title of your own threads by double clicking the title bar for the post on the main Forum page. It's really obscure and I discovered it by accident but yet....
Anyway, as to the video, quite nice. "Cookie cutter" quests aside, I like what I see.
Is "binding" the same thing as Soulbound?... The same concept I mean.
I'm still confused as to what you mean by double click where in what now? O_O PLEASE EXPLAIN.
Also, yes, cookie cutter quests ... but somehow i suppose .. it's too much to expect big quest volume and have them all be totally epic or deep in backstory etc etc ... hopefully there's enough higher quality ones scattered around, but i don't mind cookie cutters filling out large glob.
Love the overall aesthetic. LNC looks waaaay more fun than CON in this video.
That battle music...
Battle Music is like, so yummy. I kind of got sick of half of the battle music in 1.x quickly (some of it was tolerable, others got deafening after too many battles) but this one I could get used to. <3
Ummm, okay, I tried to do that again, and I can't figure out how I did it, but I found another way. Click Edit Post, on your first post, then click Go Advanced, it should give you a title option.
Bah, that doesn't work either.... How did I get that to work.....
Like how you get choices of rewards!
I like the way the quest synopsis is set up as neutral, followed by the actual interaction. Reminds me of FFT tavern stuff or FFTA2 sidequests.
Text bubbles is a good addition. But they might need to do a little work on the pacing (sometimes an entire bubble with only one word)
I really dislike the new text scrolling. What happened to my FFT style text popping. :[
The giant circles and arrows around your target are an eyesore. Especially with both of them. And the circle has a frickin spinning arrow on it. I'm sorry but that is just overboard. It adds too much clutter to an already busy UI. If you have a billion indicators everywhere eventually indicators lose their purpose. Another instance of being overcluttered, clicking on npc to turn in the quest, you have an arrow on top of their solid quest marker. TLDR; UI needs a ton of polish.
Combat is erring on the side of being way too flashy. Don't get me wrong I love my FF special FX but they are going overboard to supersaiyan level kaioh-ken stuff.
I love these videos. I just wish they were longer. :)
Although I guess five minutes is about right in order to appeal to people who only have a casual interest in XIV 2.0 as well.
I love the interface (in general) and the speed of battle. It seems really easy to switch between multiple targets, which is a godsend. Also, I'm impressed with how the UI presents battle-related information in a way that is very easy to follow.
Take the animation and sound effect for Slow, for example. Both are quick, clear, and unique. The animation stands out just enough without cluttering the screen, and the unique sound effect makes it so that you know the mob has been hit with Slow even if you're not looking at it. This is the polar opposite of the log-watching I did to see if my debuffs hit back in FF XI. Thank you Jesus! \(^_^)/
Looks great finally the quests are up to the MMO standard these days. I very much like how you can open of your map and see where to go, as oppose to the old way where you have too open up a map for each individual quest.
So you are saying you like someone to hold your hand while you do a quest? Thats what it sounds like. This is easy mode and there's no point in playing if everything is handed or if you are exactly told where to go. I really wouldnt call this MMO standards I call it baby mode.
Yes everyone prefers FFXI style quest where it doesnt tell you where the NPCs are or their position, i am sure you are very skilled person because you browse quests guide at websites. Theres reason people doesn't do quests in FFXI, nobody knows which npc gives out quests and they make u walk somewhere unknown without guide, in the end everyone just go to zam or somepage for walkthrough.
Real skill.
looks good but naturally a few minor gripes.
- the big "QUEST XXX" text across the screen and jungle it plays seems annoying.
- floating / scrolling combat text, hope it can be turned off or modified at least.
- "targeting rings" under the mobs + giant arrow overhead seems unnecessary
other than that i'm liking it.
I like it so far it would be cool if the exp earned fell a little faster and you could see it added when it reached the exp bar
New ffxiv stuff here, vid related.

Thank you for sharing this Vid with us im watching it atm while typing.
Great stuff SE keep it up!
wow.
compared to FFXI, this UI is a freaking Techno Rave.
i hope i can turn most of this stuff off when i'm not fighting.
still looks fun tho.
Soken's horribly boring music continues to be horribly boring.
Hmm I Like how this is developing, it all depends on how the quest progression is made all in all, you start killing 6 boars and end up nuking bahamut, sounds good to me.
Also the graphical improvements are FREAKING AWESOME, can't wait to spend 8+hrs a day playing this game! Oh and love the FFXII feeling they are bringing into, it really fits!
Edit: Oh and we got confirmation that certain skills have their own CD's, so at high level the combat mechanics will be complex! yay!
The UI looks like FF7, FF8, FF12... FF13... it looks just so final fantasy?
I Like it ... its definatley Final Fantasy now!! neon blue was always part of the UI within the series...
i like that video, hopefully we'll see some videos of public events, Dungeon instances (with quests), and guild leves of course..
because questing WILL NOT be the only thing. so standard questing is good enough... when you have more to do than just questing. you know.
i think thats going to be gridanian combat music, so you will have combat music fitting each area where you are fighting... and i fuckin liked it.
I enjoyed most of Soken's work in the 1.0 boss fights/job quests. Unfortunately I can't say the same for most of the alpha music I've been hearing. I like the Grid town theme but other than that all the music sounds so... bland? I feel like it doesn't really fit the mood/setting.
Stop being ridiculous.
First, people did quests in XI plenty - they only avoided the ones that felt like too much effort for not enough reward (which is entirely subjective). Of course, considering how "reward-driven" so many MMO gamers are these days, it becomes a lot of them. We're talking about people who consider any amount of time/effort that stands between them and their "shinies" to be a horrible crime against humanity. That's an issue with the impatient and entitled gamer's mindset typical of "modern gaming", not with the game itself.
Second, FFXI actually played like an RPG, where you're encouraged/required to actually - you know - explore, investigate, talk to different NPCs, see what they have to say, see if they want/need/request anything of you. You actually do have to pay attention to what they're saying and follow-through on it. They actually required you to use your brain - which of course, in today's MMO market is tantamount to asking many to poke their own eye out with a hot stick. FFXI treats you like an actual Adventurer, not a helpless and hopeless idiot who needs to be shown the how/where/what of everything in order to complete it.
Quests in XI felt 100x more like actual quests than almost anything out of the "gaming on training wheels" nonsense to come out since WoW started dumbing down the genre and babying the players. I'm talking everything outside of FoV and GoV which were added much later and are not the core storyline, etc.
The biggest problem with XI was in how poorly worded or translated many of the quests were. That was a problem with the localization, not with the quests themselves. In those cases, yes, you would have to ask another player who may have completed it, or go online to figure it out. There were plenty of quests I did in XI, however, where I never needed to do anything but actually read what the NPC was saying to get through it. Then, SE did the right thing by leaving it up to me to figure it out and complete the task - which is what a quest should be. Killing 10 boars that all but have freaking neon-signs on them saying "Hey stupid, I'm right here. Kill me", so you can find them if you're not even looking, is not questing. It's mundane, repetitive, patronizing and frankly, insulting, BS.
Being given tasks where you are not even required to read a single word of what the NPC says because every. single. step. is clearly pointed out for you is not questing. It's derivative, boring, empty and shallow nonsense. It's lazy, uninspired design and it's something for which Yoshi-P deserves derision, not praise.
If this is the kind of brainless, repetitive, uninspired and boring crap some of you people consider "engaging and fun content", well then be happy... Looks like you're gonna be drowning in it.
I'm not sure what's worse, the way MMO developers these days treat gamers as though they're morons who can't tie their own shoe-laces without an illustrated step-by-step guide, or the fact that so many gamers actually like being treated that way.
is it just me or the Lancer stance looks awful lol.. ><
