RED MAGE VS TIME MAGE

RED MAGE
On one side we have the jack of all trades. Who trained in the art of combat and swords and possessed the knowledge of the art of light and dark spells.
The job of a RED MAGE is not an easy task to take up as it required both in physical and in mind to able to received the title of a RED MAGE!

TIME MAGE
On the other side we have a TIME MAGE that is a rare job that seems as if extinct from mankind. Or perhaps, the TIME MAGE are just hiding between the passage of time and the void of the abyss? TIME MAGE possessed the power to manipulate the very fabric of time and space and distort it to their advantage be it Teleportation, WARP, Time Traveling or even...should I say, STOP TIME!
It's the only job within mankind to be consider the forbidden job.

Red Mage, no competition.
It's just so much more iconic to the serie than Time Mage is, and needs to be added as soon as possible imho. XIV just won't feel complete without it.

Low sample size or not, the votes are over 70% in favor of Time Mage and the claim is that there's "no competition".

If the developers keep adding nothing but "iconic" jobs, we're eventually going to end up with a full and complete Final Fantasy XI 2.0

Did we really need a third Time mage thread? and did we really need to push the whole ridiculous arguement that somehow Red Mage and Time Mage are competing for the same spot?.

Red Mage is a frontline melee dd with some mid tier Black and White magic that it can cast faster than other jobs in some way or another.

Time Mage is a backline Enfeebling and Enhancing job with a few damage dealing spells.

People should stop confusing what Red Mage was in XI and what Red Mage could be in XIV.

These polls mean nothing when i can go on to my vita and submit a second vote for job/class of my choice.

I know I'm just feeding the fire so to speak, but really, do we need another one of these threads? The devs are gonna do what the devs are gonna do, tell us about it, then most of you can bitch about it as you are wont to do, and the rest of of can have civil, gentlemanly discussions about what we'd like to see from each job/class(because I'd like to think the devs want to do something different and add both at some point) over a hot drink, probably tea. I like tea after all.

Why versus? Give us Red Mage and Time Mage :p. Anyways Red Mage wins.

Assuming that Redmage would cast faster than other jobs is still FFXI, Redmage's traditional ability is "DUALCAST" As in you hit a ability, select two spells and they share 1 cast bar and resolve at the same time. So you can do CURE+CURE or CURE+FIRE FIRE+BLIZZARD. Still not sure why future redmages don't know what dualcast is ; ; They should be demanding it.

um.... when i said cast spells faster in one way or another i was including dual cast in that area of Red Mage's expertise. As it allows Red Mage to cast the same number of spells faster than another mage.

Anyhow, I'm sure both will be brought to FFXIV.

I still think RDM players are greedy and want to steal Mystic Knight, Time Mage, and White / Black mage's spell lists though har har har...

I'd rather see a poll to people who never played FFXI just random gamers and ask them what they would like to see, a redundant mage who dabbles in a lil bit of everything or a master of time and space.

Take them both! Haste/Slow & any -ga forms would be Time Mage exclusive. Also if any form of Refresh is in ARR give it to Time Mage as well, let RDM fight with MNK & DRG for a melee DD spot.

I'm personally in favor of them adding both. The whole Time Mage vs Red Mage debate is ridiculous in itself because it all started with one person saying they should add RDM instead. Why not instead of making one or the other, let's all ask for whichever you want or both and NOT argue about which should be first in a Time Mage thread.
That being said, idk where you people are getting this "everyone wants RDM more" idea. Earlier polls always show them pretty close to each other and this one even shows Time Mage outright winning so given the margin of error they're both roughly equally wanted by the player base, so just stop.

He's just interested in what the community has to say about the recent rivalry that the community has managed to forge for the two jobs in question.

Time Mage and Red Mage don't even occupy the same role in a party, and likely won't even come close to sharing the same spells and abilities.

I doubt we would see a FFXI RDM again (as cool as it was seen Avesta solo gods) Yoshi-P is all old school so we would get an early games RDM style

i rather see a new mages then the same exact jobs from FFXI again they should come later and add other FF jobs.
i rather see Timemage then Redmage. time mage would fit into the plot perfect. rdm should wait for an expansion.

I think Time Mage is really not needed since the "time spells" like stop and haste can be passed to the whm/blm jobs like in the other games. so to be honest Time died out when the need for a special mage was casted out when other jobs learned they too can do the spells >.>

Time Mage would add something this game currently lacks.

Oh uh huh, someone have soggy cereal this morning? My point was that RDM in XI was a conglomerate of spells taken from other possible jobs, Time Mage and Mystic Knight being the main two, and Red mage was pretty OP in XI. These were all added after it's launch (Refresh wasn't a spell RDM had at launch) to make RDM more unique and desirable in a party (Though they never nailed down the mechanics to have it melee in a party properly). Now what I'm getting at is that we should ask random gamers who haven't play XI and ask them which job is more iconic.

I think people should stop asking for Weird Random Classes until we actually have the last two Original Final Fantasy Classes.

Thief and Red Mage deserve to be the next two classes if for no other reason than because they are the only two missing from Final Fantasy.

Time Mage only existed in Final Fantasy V and that bastardized chess game.

It's funny how people claim that the majority of players want Red Mage.. yet there isn't any proof.. and when there's proof that it would seem that more people would like Time Mage instead, it's because "I didn't vote" (because that's going to help get a general consensus on what the player base prefers..)

Well they should release the class as its original form then? Not as it was in FFXI :D Which would leave room for the release of Time Mage.

Don't bother using the 'original classes' excuse if you don't want it similar to its original state.. and Lancer wasn't an 'original class'.. that's still in the game ;)

Thing is, if you ask which is more iconic because of the nature of the question Red Mage would likely have a broader base of players, Red Mage was around since FF1 and useable from the beginning. Any FF player of any age will be able to tell you what a Red Mage is. The only FF game with a job system that didnt have Red Mage that i know of was FF tactics and FFXII Revenant Wings. FFIX too though there were Red Mage NPCs at a bunch of towns. Time Mage has 7 appearances within a Job System FFV, the 3 FF tactics games, FFXII international, FFXII Revenant Wings and Bravely default. Compared to Red Mages 10 appearances within a Job System starting with Final Fantasy, FFIII, FFV, Final Fantasy XI, FF Tactics Advance, FF Tactics A2, Bravely Default, FF Dimensions and FF Brigade. When it comes down to it Red Mage is a older more constant Job choice.

As i've said i dont think they are in competition if anything traditionally Time Mage has more competition in Black and White Mage than it does in Red Mage. As for Mystic Knight i'd like to see it more of a Elemental Weaponskill/Elemental stance user than a enspell user having to recast enspells is tidious and the original Sorcerer/Mystic Knight was really slow wasting turns to imbue your weapon for very little increase compared to other jobs in damage if any.

Red mage? Feh, it's out of date. 25 years old now. I want to see something new to the series, and I felt the class system was a step in the right direction for that. Not just copy-pasta 25 year old Job frames and stick a new story onto it, and I definitely do not want to see a copy-pasta of XI.
As I always say, XI and XIV are two different games and should be treated as such.
Red mage in XI had as much charisma as using a rabid Badger for a pillow.
Melee mage class with support abilities turned into Haste spam.
Don't get me wrong, if it remains a Buff/DD class like BRD, then I'm for it. But, I get a feeling that won't end up being the case.
Hence, my vote goes for Time lord. I mean uh. Time mage.

The problem with introducing RDM's melee aspect is there's already a sword user in FF14 and atleast i have the impression Yoshi-P doesn't want to add a job that can equip all weapons or a weapon that can be used by more than one job ...so what would you give RDM? Rapier is a skinny sword :p so yeah and before you say BLM/WHM use staff only BLM uses staff WHM's is called Cane >_>
