I have a feeling .....
Don't think so the Anima system is very casual friendly where they can go and teleport to where there friends at and do quest together.
If they did not sure what new system they would do :(
I hope we won't be teleporting everywhere. Teleportation just puts a sort of cheap feeling to the game in my opinion. Instead, I'd rather have things like airships and trains.

I don't think they'll abolish anything though... lol
I gotta feeling...
Sorry, hate BEP, but I couldn't resist when the thread title made me think of that...
Sometimes I too am reminded of specific songs on an album of a band I refuse to listen to by the vague title on a MMO thread.
But yeah, if they abolish anima, I hope it's replaced with trains/airship travel that is more convenient. But if it takes 15+ minutes to get to point A to point B with trains/airships, meh, gimme my anima back!
'bE AFRAID OF THE FUTURE'
Well, they said there will be a content finder. And the essential feature of any content finder is that you're instantly teleported into said content. So, even if anima remains, it probably won't be nearly as valuable.
well i hated anima either way so lets hope so in my opinion. these past few weeks felt like a mmo. people ask for help and others jump to where he is at without crickets or i have no anima or lets gather up like it's a religious holiday rather then just a simple 2minute thing.
and lets not remove the fact that running around isn't content, dont' care how many of u think so. i already am a hair trigger away from rage quiting over them removing mob grinds for quests and dungeon grinds. i hate that in other mmo's witch is like every mmo now, but that is a different thread all together. time running around rather then killing stuff is just time waisted to me. it leaves lots of boringness to a game, it creates players not even doing parties together but being passer byers that just end up in same spot for like 5mins not talking and part there ways. even dungeons in games like this are a joke.
so lets get rid of anima sure. let us port places freely that are 2-4mins tops of our destinations, yes please. make those 2-4mins entertaining as well, heck yeah. lots of just running no thanks. ffxi had it kinda just right. duck a few mobs, possibility to die and stuff and usually u'r there. hate these other mmo's with mobs scattered every inch of map type stuff that all agro and u just run threw em to destinations or kill whatever u do. (and mobs in these games are all the same no matter what they look like, but again that is another thread too lol)
you play gw2? it's 90% running around event to event ..even with teleporting ..so much down times. if they find a spot in game where it actually feels like a grind like continuous events back to back and groups actually end up grinding like parties together they "fix" them or slow them down. that is how much new mmo's think walking is part of a game and it's not. fu. lol
as for the content finder thing, i like it and i hate it. i like the easyness of it, i hate when a active linkshell still only has like 9-10people willing to do a dungeon and the main group is full, or your forced into vent, or you need to be one of the main dudes that sit and talk to each other in vent to get any invites period. so content finder is cool for this, but then again gw2 i not heard a single person talk in any of my guilds for weeks and it's a new mmo. theres lots of bad things that happen cause of content finder being implemented. but all in all, i think i rather see this one that not.
tl,dr anima sucks, long live teleporting and short burst to our destinations. (and screw the direction mmo's are going)
I don't think they will completely abolish anima. I think they will just make it easier to recover anima, (although perhaps not as easy as it currently is with atomos- though I wouldn't put it past them).
didn't they already explain the answer to this... it was something about teleportation quests i think...
Maybe it will be a good thing but what cannot happen is people going everywhere in the world from the main town. That is extremely boring. WoW is currently like that.
Some people think traveling is boring? Teleporting everywhere is worse.
Why do you think they're finally trying to get people out of the town with mists of pandaria? World bosses and world pvp are back now because that's more fun than sitting in town teleporting.
it just needs to be a good balance between running and teleporting. like long runs to big huge hnm's ok, short 1-2min runs for simple quests tops. and no more then 5mins runs for basically anything else. not many places we need to go even have mobs that make you worry. the cave tunnel to garuda has agro mobs in it, makes you feel like the tunnel in the dunes area to lizards in ffxi, though you really have 0 chance of dying lol. running is only fun with the excitement of possible death. ffxi had it just right. other mmo's and there scattered mobs every 1inch is just horrible.
Yeah exactly. Vague thread titles in general are just really annoying.
What? What's more convenient than instantly teleporting anywhere? I mean, you can say trains/airships are more FUN, but they are definitely not more convenient by any stretch.
I'm always on the fence with the easy teleportation, I enjoy "Immersion" as much as the next guy but in GW2 it feels a weird that I throw some money into the air and teleport to a waypoint about half a minute walk from the other :|
However the maps will be completely different in ARR and may not require a mass amount of teleporting over 5 miles of repeated terrain :P
Fight the change!!! Bring the past to the future!
You're paying the Asura.
"A waypoint, or a magi-matter-transportive device, is a floating stone marker that players can instantly travel to by using the map. In lore, it is an asuran creation." You're using a device to attune yourself to a previously found waypoint.
I hope they don't get rid of anima... It works exactly as it was intended to. When you have lots of time to play, you run out quickly and have to walk everywhere. When you don't have much time to play, you stay stocked up on anima and don't have to waste what little time you have on travel.
I don't mind if they keep Anima, but I want to see other forms of teleportation via spells.
May have already been said, but saying it again in that case anyway.
Remove Anima, that's fine, the limitation on it does suck and if you start camp hopping like a madman to complete some content, it gets frustrating. Yes, party anima sharing is always an option, but when things can and are done solo / or when those you would party up with are asleep due to time zone issues, that doesnt present itself as a great remedy.
Instead, charge gil. Just feed it back to the system, not that it really matters, as I said elsewhere gil is not a finite system. It will come from the game world limitlessly, always and forever. (though it would be funny if the game 'ran out' of gil you got from vendors/rewards and whatever currency was currently set in the game world is locked.
Anyways, back to my point. GW2 (oh yes I did) uses your own monies to teleport from waypoints. Depending on the range, the amount of money it requires goes up or down. I'm not sure if it changes based on how far you are from your home nation or not, since some teleport hops from one WP to another in the same map can still stay upwards in a silver and a few copper pieces, haven't really bothered to look closely at it. But the point is, gil is inexhaustable. But wanting to make a jump from a camp in the same region, that costs 100 gil, should cost 1000 gil if you're going clear across the other side of the continent.
Hate it if you want, but I like it.
that tonight gonna be a good night that tonight gonna be a good night...
Charge gil for teleportation = Yes.
I rather they add something like that and remove anima.
... And there shall be great shoutings in Lower Ishgard for teleports to all the Aetheryte crystals.
BTW, remember to tip the white mages extra gil for the flight and they will likely dance for you in appreciation.
True story.
Didn't I... already answer this...
Teleportation won't be directly available in ARR, we're going to have to do quests for it I believe.
Let's guess how many times people will make the same joke.
