Nov. 11 game goes down and then??

So when the game goes down it may be down for upto a month from what the devs said, but i hear others state the release date for ARR to be much later. So what I like to know is straight up what happens after servers go down. How long will we have to wait to wait play ARR on pc. (please note im not bitching about having to wait just trying find out how long i will have to.)

It's looking like 2-3 months if you're not in the alpha/beta.

And then its FFXI time 8)

Yeah its going to be a lot longer than a month sorry to break it to you. I'm not expecting the game before March 2013.

A large bulk of players are going to play GW2 until FFXIV is up and ready.

I've got a FPS to keep me occupied, only bad thing it comes out just before Thanksgiving...

More like a bulk of players will be playing GW2 until 2.0 comes out five months later, they will try 2.0, and then they will go back to GW2 after being underwhelmed by the improvements. I won't be playing another MMO during the downtime because I don't want to get sucked into the trap.

I find this highly unlikely as GW2 will most likely be dead and forgotten by the time 2.0 is released.

I'm not even playing it but I know it had amazing sales at launch.

Anyway I hope they don't commit to a specific release date because you are demanding it but instead they should get it done this time before anyone gets to play it for reviews.

anyhow i don't really think GW2 will fail, or get "forgotten", but isn't nearly as good as they said it would be.

GW2 will not fail, it is probably the best f2p game which is completely catered to casuals. Now with that said the game extremely over hyped and while it is not bad... it is not omg awesome either honest it is extremely mediocre there are massive flaws in the games design unless you like the solo centric playstyle in a mmo.

I will play some GW2 during shut down, but honestly all I see that mmo as is a filler mmo in between event in XIV and during downtime.

I am not going to play any other MMO during downtime, but... How is trying another game, finding out is better than FFXIV and deciding to leave for that new game considered a "trap"?...

I'm going to 100% focus on passing my last semester in college, and probably play some of my library. It's been so lonely lately.

Since the last "save day" or whatever for our characters is nov 1st...I'm gonna consider the game down then. No point to play :( Hopefully they have us all in the beta by then..if not meh..I might come back when/if 2.0 ever comes out.

Oh my gosh, 3-4 months... For some reason I was being naive and thinking it is released in January (read that long time ago from somewhere).
Well I am sure loads of new games are released for Christmas though if I need my game fix :D

...and then we wait.

Alpha, beta, implementing alpha/beta feedback...it could take a while.

As did every new MMO the past few years, they all tapered off because it's just impossible to please everyone. SWTORs problems mostly fell into the fact it was a glorified multiplayer (if that) KOTOR and not so much an MMO for example. GW2 will likely taper off to Rift levels, rather than be completely forgotten it'll still be there with a stable playerbase but it is arenanet we're talking about. Once the honeymoon period is over we'll see what happens.
