EU Tanks Come to NA, Listen Once, and Outperform NA Tanks Instantly

I’m sorry, but the difference between NA and EU tank mentality is actually insane. You see it the moment an EU tank steps onto NA servers.

We had this EU Paladin, playing on NA, doing DSR with us. They weren’t familiar with every timing, so I gave them a few key instructions:

“Use Divine Veil AFTER the 2nd hit of Wroth Flames — that’s where the heal + shield gives max value.”

“Use Holy Sheltron for EVERY auto in Phase 7, including the healer autos.”

“Use Divine Veil after the FIRST hit of Gigaflare — you get the heal immediately AND the shields for the second hit.”

And you know what they said?

‘Okay.’

That’s it. No arguing. No attitude. No NA-style meltdown about “backseating.”
Just listening, applying the information, and playing correctly.

And because they actually listened?

We cleared after seeing Phase 7 only twice.
That’s it. Two looks at the phase before the clear.

Why? Because their mitigation was perfect from pull one:

✔️ Divine Veil after the first Gigaflare hit
→ Heal + shield for the 2nd hit
→ Maximum value, zero drama.

✔️ Divine Veil after the 2nd hit of Wroth Flames
→ Proper timing, party stabilized instantly.

✔️ Holy Sheltron on EVERY Phase 7 auto
→ Tank autos and healer autos covered.
→ Zero panic. Zero HP rollercoasters.

✔️ They never argued.
✔️ They never complained.
✔️ They adjusted instantly and executed cleanly.

Meanwhile, NA tanks will literally:

Eat autos raw

Use cooldowns before damage happens

Forget personals entirely

Get defensive when corrected

And then blame everyone else

That EU Paladin walked into NA territory, listened to advice once, and helped clear the hardest fight in the game after only two Phase 7 attempts.

The issue isn’t the fight.
It’s not the difficulty.
It’s not the mechanics.
It’s the NA ego.

If one EU player can show up, listen, and clear with almost no exposure to the phase, then NA players have no excuse for the constant resistance to basic, correct mitigation usage.

So, wait, if EU players were also argumentative, ate autos raw, blamed everyone else, etc etc, then does that mean NA players WOULD have an excuse?

I am from EU and everytime I played roulette on NA it was...an 'experience'. :')

People are often more funny! That's good! But they also often play much worse and have not our rules.

For example the A(dds), B(elly), C(hain) rule for the Cerberus in Crystal Tower. At least I never saw people doing it.

But I have to disappoint you. We have very toxic people here, too. You just where lucky to meet a friendly one. : )

It is pretty spot on... we listen to critics and pointers and try and work from those criteria..... in general NA it is much alike you don't pay my subscription or whatever...

If can learn something new, if can provide information and whatever have an open mind, it is a role playing game after all.

But it is not all that is like that in the EU either, but as we are many cultures most of us know the importance of trying to fit in and not to step on anyone's toes, NA could learn a lot from that... JP servers is very much like that as well with trying and then succeeding and finally on top on that learning something.

On EU it's basically an unspoken understanding of bare essential courtesy. It's also why we can have a bit of trust in other players without having to saerch all profiles for red flags.

Meeting one nice foreign guy and then deciding every local guy is a loser is apparently as normal to see in games as it is in real life.

I don't know how bad NA is but EU isn't like the bees knees... I've had people crash out and rage in normal content. Savage+? insane how many people prog lie I even had a exfriend tell me I should prog lie "because I watched the guide" I thankfully didn't listen, because I genuinely feel bad if im holding down a group on clearing

I've noticed there are a LOT more YPYT nuts on NA, they are practically nonexistant on EU

I've seen a few but they're super rare here, yes. You get more people grilling sprouts that ask not to pull nicely rather than tanks throwing a tantrum because someone is doing it.
It really doesn't hurt to be patient with the new players...

I mean is this actually a common thing experienced commonly by common people in NA ? I've been playing since SHB on EU and I've really never heard it. Only reason I know it exists is YouTube drama vids and these forums.

Are you sure it's not because you gave actual helpful advice on how to play their class and what to do in a particular fight rather than snark or rage like most players NA-side would do in situations like that? Let's not act like the terrible attitudes you find in NA are strictly in how we respond to criticism.

We can get into this issue on another long, drawn out thread yet again somewhere else, but for me if I am tanking, it's not an ego problem - you're actually fucking with my rotation, my sprint times, and the usual jackwagons that do this aren't running back to me. Oh no, we have to run in circles and away from me like this is another WoW game.
If you want to pull and bring it to the tank, not a problem. But that's not how it goes 99% of the time, and that can mess tanks up. If you are going to pull mobs, then FFS - take them to the tank. Don't stand there getting beat on. Don't run away. Don't keep running to the wall, because you've already screwed up my sprint from the last time you did the same thing.

Over the years, one thing that is very easy to notice is that damage in roulettes is higher in EU and it's not even remotely close. NA are far more casual about damage dealing and don't pressure eachother to be extremely sweaty at rotations and gearing. Everything melts in EU in ways it doesn't in 10 years of doing roulettes in NA. While there are casual players in EU I feel like they get socially pressured way more to play well.

That is not true at all. They are higher because they can play together and not be pressured by some DPS with chronic main character syndrome to speedrun everything.

We have that on Aether. We just generally let any dps go inside since it doesn't need to be limited to just B's. And someone always goes for a chain so it doesn't necessarily need to be C. Main problem is a tank not grabbing adds sometimes, especially if the A tank is already MT. So in our case it's more that we know what needs to be done and so long as someone does it, we don't really care who it is.

A common joke for us in alliance chat is A - all in the belly, B - belly belly belly, C - come into the belly

Maybe many people in EU pressure themselves as well, but in the relatively smaller number of times I've done roulettes in EU I've seen more rude and critical behaviour than in 10 years of doing roulettes in NA.

If everyone you play with on EU is an asshole, you're the problem.
Have you actually tried to see how how dungeon runs work there?

In my 5 years on Chaos I can count the amount of terrible runs on one hand.

They aren't rude to me. I am referring to that I have seen them attack others in the duty for x, y or z. I'm a pretty silent observer myself. A lot of it was attacking people for damage in 8-person duties, but there was a time I was leveling a healer and they berated the poor (returner) tank the entire dungeon and I felt deeply uncomfortable and sickened by what I saw them say to someone that had obviously not been playing for ages.

In many cases they have tried to run ahead of me when I'm tanking because they want to speedrun and don't value the tank particularly, but I keep pace because I speedrun anyway. At best, they keep slightly behind me but keep up with me very well. Majority of my NA memories are of people way behind me. That's really all I notice other than things dying faster in many cases.

So my point is that, on average, more EU players seem more interested in playing well and that is likely part of the explanation for OP's experience.

This is 100% pure hypocrisy and projection because any and all YPYT threads that complains about DPS running ahead aren started and complained about by NA players.

The ABC in WoD became "all DPS in the belly, better get in the belly, crush it in the belly" because we discovered it was faster to throw bodies at the DPS check than send a healer or tank down there.
