STOP GATEKEEPING PF IN 2025 BE LIKE EU and jp

Party Finder in this game is a fucking disaster sometimes. I don’t care if it’s a clear party or a reclear party — stop locking them behind Duty Complete. It makes zero sense. A clear party should let people who still need the achievement in. A reclear party should be for anyone who is clear-ready or who has already cleared. Slapping Duty Complete on top of either one is nothing but pointless gatekeeping, ego stroking, and absolute garbage design by the community.

And let’s be brutally honest: if you’ve got 40+ clears and you’re still throwing Duty Complete on your PF, you’re not protecting anything — you’re just flexing like a middle school bully. The achievement doesn’t magically make your run smooth. Half the time, these “Duty Complete only” parties are still a complete circus of parse animals faceplanting mechanics they’ve done a thousand times, wiping at 2%, screaming for heals. Meanwhile, one actual clear-ready player who actually cares about killing the boss would probably carry harder than another orange-log clown obsessed with padding numbers.

And the real punchline? The C41 “need clear” people who STILL lock behind Duty Complete. Like bro… YOU need the clear. YOU literally haven’t done it yet. But you’re blocking everyone else who’s also capable? That’s not logic — that’s begging for a carry while pretending you’re above it. PF becomes a graveyard because of clowns like this.

If you think NA PF is bad, look at EU and JP PF. They don’t gatekeep with Duty Complete nearly as much, and people actually take mechanics seriously. If you perform poorly there, you WILL get flamed — you can’t hide behind “Duty Complete” as a shield. Meanwhile, NA PF is a trash heap of ego-driven carry-seekers and orange-log obsessed clowns who think an achievement icon equals skill.

Not sure what EU PF you are talking about. Most parties looking for reclears here are using duty complete requirements too.

Because for every player that hasnt cleared yet but knows the fight good enough to clear, you get half a dozen that lie hard about their prog points.

Requiring at least one clear isn't perfect, but at least it means everyone who joined at the very least was not so much dead weight that they couldnt be dragged to a clear.

I'd agree that clear parties should NOT require the achievement, because the point is... getting that.

But on the other hand, I disagree about Reclear parties. They should be for people who already have the achievement, or else we'd get even more "prog liars" than we have today. I'm not currently raiding high end, but as a PF user, I remember so many reclear failures because people joined not even knowing how they did get the kill. I'd imagine it would be even worse if groups stopped to require the achievement.

I've been in too many C41 parties that ended up C47 time-wasters to mind those sometimes being locked to Duty Complete. Duty Complete makes perfect sense and is a tool given to us to use by the game for the express purpose of gatekeeping. We should use it to gatekeep. Gatekeeping is not a Bad Evil No-No. It doesn't necessarily guarantee a smooth party but it does guarantee that everyone in it has cleared.

People who make PF parties are entitled to put whatever rules they see fit. If that displeases you, make your own and see where that carries you.

Clear requirements are there because people lie about their prog, locked clear for 1 are there because they want to limit the shenanigans.

Farm parties are there for speed and consistency, not community work. Yea there are protecting something, their private play time. So stop making this about gatekeeping.

But seriously, What's wrong with duty complete locking for reclears? the entire point is to get in and out, clear it again with other people as fast as possible. It's not about 'protecting' something at all, it's just "I want loot fast, lets get in, get out within 30 minutes."

C41ing I also see as case dependent. I tried to C41 my friend in M7S the other week and we saw no one, but I'm not exactly going to blame people for not wanting to join, even with my friend already being at enrage. He managed to get his clear the next day anyways. People putting up C41s for themselves are just desperate to get a clear.

I know I'm tempted to ask around just so I can stop seeing Millennial Decay every time I join a P1 Enrage group. My main's search info is "No, this isn't a millennial Decay party!" for a reason.

C41 mercing wouldn't work without duty complete locking because then you're literally just hiring poor prog liars who want to get in at no cost to them and hope they get carried. If you don't gate keep, then you won't get your clear, and the people joining won't get the gil you put on offer.

Farm parties: Refer back to reclears. Why would you want to reprog earth and ice phase in EX3 when you could get a bunch of people who know the fight already and... will inevitably kill you in ice phase because they don't know fixed bridges anymore and expected to skip without potting.

Clear parties? Okay, yeah, no, this makes no sense. You're just putting up an unadvertised C41, and as LegendWait put it:

I can't speak for Aether's PF etiquette, as I only recently transferred onto it and prior to this tier I was only raiding in statics anyways, but I can only hope to imagine it's better than my experiences with M8S.

Gatekeeping is not evil. It is a tool, and should be used as such.

The fact is people lie. Prog lying in NA is much more common than elsewhere by my perception. And sometimes the only way to prevent this is to make sure they can't lie.

It sounds like you're assuming all CF1 parties are to carry the PF's creator but a lot of my experience is it's folks who HAVE cleared, trying to get a team of people to help their friend clear.
What's so wrong with joining learning parties anyways? Learn the fight, clear it, and then you can join the duty complete parties! Put in a bit of effort to actually be able to join, they're not "gatekeeping" anything, they just don't want their time wasted.

stopping the western me me me me mentality and going more towards us us us us... would be better, maybe not just for the first couple of months... but you would see miracles in the later stages.

1. If its reclear party ofc it should be locked behind Duty Complete, only people who already have cleared can join, why would you let uncleared people to join? Regardless if they say they're confident, there is no guarantee if they're being honest unless if they can show some proof, like TOP, if they passed Wave Cannon 2, that means they're clearable otherwise not.
2. If its a clear party, it depends, sometimes you see people like you mentioned, the shameless ones, who only wants to get carried. Sometimes there are an open pf for anyone with same goal yes, but sometimes there also these mercenary pf that offers some gil as reward for helpers which is pretty make sense if they put Duty Complete, logically since they're the 主 or the boss, that offering something so ofc they don't want to get trapped by other uncleared players. Likewise, i would never help an open clear party because it tends to be very hard, harder than a C41, if you ask me i rather go sleep early than joining sus pfs. Don't blame me, if everyone in pf can just be transparent and honest with their prog point, i'd gladly help anyone without any doubt.
3. If you think you're confident enough, you can just send a tell to those pfs if they can allow you to join, but if they refuse, you have no rights to complain about it, just make your own pf. Or you know, get some friends, don't be friendless.

TLDR; JP PF does lock Duty Complete, the difference i know is that us, unlike NA, JP players respect mechanics more and still try to push even if someone just died, because they care about the clear more than those funny numbers. You can get those nonsense number later but on a clear party, goal is to get a clear first.

Party Finder requirements aren’t about “flexing.” They’re about people wanting to group with others of equal experience versus those who are still learning and need more time.

One of the biggest issues isn’t gatekeeping, but communication. Too often, players trying to clear refuse to hop on Discord or ask questions, which makes things harder than they need to be. On top of that, bad practices have been around for years—people exaggerating their experience, squeaking by on bare minimum iLevel, or not even melding materia.

That’s not about elitism; it’s about respecting the time of seven other players.

I run a fair number of learning and clear parties myself, but when I’m hosting a farm, I don’t want someone showing up in entry-level gear who probably limped through their first clear—or cleared on another job entirely. That’s why Duty Complete and similar filters exist.

As for the “C41” point you raised—ideally, those are for players who’ve seen enrage multiple times and just haven’t gotten the clear yet. The idea is to make the run smooth by bringing in people who already have the fight on farm and require minimal communication. That’s not gatekeeping; that’s just setting expectations so everyone knows what kind of group they’re joining.

Pf etiquette in EU is like this most of the time:

-You are completely new, just want a first look in the fight? Open for all players.

-You are at a specific prog point but not ready to clear yet? Open to all players, but specify your prog point in the pf info.

-You are ready to clear and open a clear party? Your choice: open it to all players with the specifics in the info that it's a clear party or open it only for ppl who cleared to help you. Most people I've seen will do the first option, though.

-You want a simple reclear or mechanic cleanup ? Open it to people who cleared it already and specify in info, so you get a higher chance to get the training you actually want.

-You want to farm efficiently? Open only for people who cleared.

At the end, it's every party leaders own choice. Their party, their rules. They chose the strat, they chose the iLvl, they chose the requirements.
And you can choose, which party you join. It's as simple as that.

I'm on Aether and I don't really see Duty Complete on clear parties. I see it on C41 or C42 but that makes sense. Someone is trying to get some help from veteran players to get their clear. I also see it on alt clears sometimes. I will agree that having Duty Complete on a normal clear party is odd, but I just wouldn't join that party.

It makes sense to have Duty Complete on a reclear. You want people who have cleared so you can quickly clear again.

Maybe a stupid question, but I never noticed “reclear” parties. What does that even mean? If people cleared, they go straight to farm, no?

Reclear is done very early in the week for savage raiders and ultimates when they're new and have weekly lockouts on gear. If you don't do savage/ultimate, or play them quite late into a week, you likely won't see any reclear parties. Farm parties are specifically for fights without loot lockouts, like extremes.

Additionally, on crystal, you won't see this anyway, now that DC travel exists. Back when my main was on crystal I'd have to be on aether 6 days of the week anyways, but crystal PF is pretty much just farm parties, maps, other odd pfs, and RP ads.

Every time I see someone complain about PF, I remind myself that PF is still PF, and if you're upset that you can't join OTHER peoples' parties, you can always just make your own.

Hi... as a JP player it is untrue. It is the Japanese player base who requested (Duty complete, weekly reward unclaimed) for example. We only take away (duty complete) if we are confident about beginners joining (or those who know the fight well). However, most of the time, for example, Extremes we do not use PF other than "practice/A2C".. this is because we use raid finder in order to farm. Same for Unreal, you will hardly see PF unless it is not done yet. So you will see many PF without (duty complete) because it is not a 'cleared' PF... I cleared Seiryuu through Raid finder, not Party finder, I had my clear in 1 wipe and retry and then I just que 2x a week to get it done. As for 7.3, the new extreme has very fast DPS que, tanks have a high competition so as a tank your que may take longer. (as of right now). Savage, has been an issue to que, but usually we use raid finder too. This time however, the range/melee composition is too strict and the DPS loss is too severe to que up for reclears so this savage tier has no raid finder.

That was my understanding, that JP uses PF mostly for practice. NA doesn't use Raid Finder at all. We use PF for both practice and clearing and reclearing/farming. So we have a mix of parties that are Duty Complete and not Duty Complete.

Since i'm also playing in JPDC too, i can attest that it's correct, mostly for Extreme and Unreal. Savage can be either DF/PF, Ultimate is only PF. However, from my experience, it seems like people who are using DF means they're very confident not to mess up, because my clear rate using DF is high, in fact it's very high, higher than PF. Not sure if there's an unspoken rule like "DF only if you're confident" or not, but it feels like it.

If you think NA PF is bad, look at EU and JP PF. They don’t gatekeep with Duty Complete nearly as much, and people actually take mechanics seriously. If you perform poorly there, you WILL get flamed — you can’t hide behind “Duty Complete” as a shield. Meanwhile, NA PF is a trash heap of ego-driven carry-seekers and orange-log obsessed clowns who think an achievement icon equals skill.

nah ngl i can't be bothered to have anyone disrespect my time, if i wanna reclear, i wont let in ppl who havent cleared, lol. if someone sends me a tell i may consider it depending on how convincing they are and what i know about them, but by default? duty complete.
