With the increased video quality, you can now see that battle actions fire immediately when Yoshida presses the corresponding button. No lag at all.

I can't wait for 2.0!
give that man more minutes
oh i didn't notice the big structures in the vista of the background first, looks like this could be our new gridania
Look at him reposition his character in the middle of weaponskill. That is a thing of beauty.
You know, one thing that I noticed with yesterday's video, but never really hit me until now...
You can back up and strafe your character without having them turn and run in that direction, and especially without any momentum or "start and stop lag" that can be annoying when trying to avoid obstacles and cast spells in hectic boss battles. It looks very close to "MMO standard" style movement, which is absolutely fantastic.
Source!
Plus some extra words...
Yeah, it looks cool and all, but I mean, c'mon look at that grass.
Anyhow, more seriously now, it looks pretty awesome. Some of the animation looks a little unfinished (its probably unfinished), but otherwise, very nice. Wish we could see the whole thing in better quality.
Looks like they sped Chaos Thrust's animation a lot. Also, was he moving back while doing Doom Spike?
Well I hope they don't let you move while doing any WS. While it might just work with some, some others would just look goofy as hell. I don't like where this is going...
Me not doing it while everyone else does it (and while it probably is expected for me to do it as well) doesn't stop the game from having that look and feel of those hundreds of f2p/WoW clone MMOs.
Going by that video, people's fears about the TP system are unfounded. TP goes down when he uses weaponskills but does not appear to regen over time. The only time it goes back up is when he uses jump, meaning it is quite similar to how it is now.
Dat 2.0 Grass
This is what people wanted. There's no way around it, if you prevent a player from moving while in combat due to animation queue then your going to have some seriously frustrating experiences. The whole game is held back because of those mechanics. Think of the Ifrit fight, think of PVP.
Im personally not excited to see chaos thrust sped up, its one of the first thing noticed.. some ws deserve to have a slightly longer animation. I hope it doesnt look off when moving during some ws also.
Oh god, yoshi's actually playing with the german client.
And it looks like they copied the World of Warcraft battle system 1:1.
Bringing in WoW UI elements is fine, I hate wow, and thats the one thing I love about wow is how on a technical stand point they are top notch, now the game itself I don't like at all. I welcome the WoW UI elements, thats the only thing I welcome from that, Graphics, storyline, music all that keep it FF please :). Thank you :)
ULTIMATE FACEPALM/HEAD DESK
You know what... I think.. I think I know what's going on here. When people say stuff "copies World of Warcraft". The franchise reaches a point in popularity where a good chunk of the community thinks of it as THE standard.
Say for example if I were to release a fighting game, with projectiles, combo system, ultra combos and all the bells and whistles, with a colorful character roster. People would say, Oh, that's just a copy of Street Fighter.
But anyone that has played say... Skull Girls, Blazblue, Guilty Gear.. basically ANY 2D FIGHTER EVER, would know these are NOT copies of Street Fighter. And most people don't even say that anyway.
So why is it that every game that uses standard MMO features, that weren't even invented by WoW, compares an mmo to WoW? It's mind boggling really. I'm not bashing anyone in particular, I'm just trying to talk myself through/understand this phenomenon.
Things can be similar, but not be a copy. It might TASTE like chicken, but it could be alligator.
I don't remember limit breaks in wow mmh...
^ THIS. What he said.
I don't think you know what i was talking about. I played World of Warcraft for about 4 years with a few breaks in it. 2.0 is going to use the exact same battle mechanics/player movement like World of Warcraft.
Btw, i was using WoW as an example because everybody knows it and played it at least once.
Let's face it, Limit Breaks will have little role in the game. Its probably mostly a novelty and no one will do it after long (ala Magic Bursting in FFXI). To me it seems like most of the content will be geared to solo until endgame and then gear treadmill like every other WoW clone. "Oh you can do group quests if you want" No one will because its 'easier' to just do the solo quests. I am genuinely worried about that. I want to know what will make this game different (other than FF themed world)? What will be FFXIV niche relative to SWTOR, Rift, WoW, FFXI, etc, etc? Why will people want to play it? Ask yourselfs that.
Very short gameplay video but at this point I'll take anything from 2.0. :P Thanks for the link.
NO. I don't think you know what I'm talking about. (Also, I'm not angry at you or anything just the whole crux of this thing)
COMMUNITY. A few questions.
1) What is a WoW clone? Please explain.
2) Would you consider Sonic the Hedgehog to be a Super Mario Brothers clone/copy?
3) Would you consider Lumines to be a Tetris clone/copy?
4) What specifically differentiates games within the same genre?
