Bits and pieces of them. I think Oracle's cycling Predict GCD as a mechanic could work really well in regular PVE (maybe another AST card rework). I think Phantom Kick could also work well in PVE. And having the strength of certain actions simply scale with job level like Offensive Aria could also be a way to clean up a lot of trait bloat.
yes but mostly no due to well the state of healers right now adding a new one will only damage it more then anything. once the healer problem is over yes I want it.
honestly I would like a berserk job and it could be a DPSand linked to warrior or being a stance for warrior that just turn it DPS instead of tank would be nice.
I see Oracle's being mix into sch in itself not much to add.
I see time mage being added with Astro but would love to see it being a magical debuffer would be interesting.
and that one I would love to see is canonnier because shooting canon and the lb could be a giant canon that nuke the place xx)
What is so exciting about chemist? It does nothing interesting, it doesn’t have an aesthetic as it has no unique casting animations. It’s basically just a dumping ground for use of items that used to be able to be used by anyone in Bozja
I'm pretty confident that Chemist will be a job in the future considering it was teased in shb's MSQ, and its niche was implied in the ALC/CUL Wachumeqimeqi quests. It likely won't have the item consumption mechanic like it does as a Phantom Job.
I want my muscular FemRoe to launch mega potions at party members' heads at point-blank range.
Chemist, but actually done well unlike the Phantom Job lol.
Ranger as a physical range job that calls animals for help.
Still confused as to why chemist doesn't have some kind of attacking/debuffing or buffing potion instead of mostly being a glorified rezz bot.
Or how ranger wastes two levels on a trait (which should never be the only thing a phantom job gets on a level up unless it fundamentally changes the way it works like berserker's third level) instead of having an additional animal action.
Geomancer or Oracle Idunno I like them I also like throwing coins at my enemies as Samurai. lmao.
But I think I'd want geomancer more.
I wish Phantom Jobs just became part of the main game. Would be nice to have it as a sub class. For normal casual mode it would be a nice addition. I'd also just disable it in Extreme/Savage/Ultimate for balancing reasons. For regular trials and dungeons / story / fates it would be fine.
Even if it's not the phantom jobs as they are in OC. OC has just shown how nice having alternate playstyles as subclasses are. Mainly just an issue because the base jobs have become so stale now.
Cannoneer. Dragon Quest X has a "Pirate" vocation that summons Cannons that it uses to do its skills which I feel is something that can work in XIV. The firing line of a Cannon in DQX is pretty wide and forgiving and since this game loves its similar circular boss arenas they would be perfectly viable. Probably would be problem with how XIV hates gimmicks on its jobs or "pets" so it'll never happen but I dream of a day when they'll be unique again and we'll have fun new ways to play.
The job I enjoyed most was Oracle, but it’s probably too close to AST to be its own job. But I also really enjoyed Geomancer, which I didn’t think I would. Still have Chemist & Berserker left after I finish Samurai.
None.
Frankly, a lot of PJ actions are giving me “Why are you not in the main game?”-feels, because of how inoffensive & safe they are. They could very well distribute these phantom actions across the main job’s arsenals tbh. I.e. give Geomancer’s bell buffs to WHM so they finally get something to do. Give AST Oracle’s Predict. Let SGE have something that’s akin to Ph.Monk’s Phantom Kick. Silver Cannon-like GCD for SCH but 5s debuff duration… and many more.
Chemist IMHO is an insult.
Take a look of what “Mix” command was capable of in other series, and the most they could think of are… 5s Benediction, 5s Manadiction , and trap Elixir? Really? Worse, the defining raid in the content are yelling at healers: “Look, we’re going to take away your raise in this place… but you can have it back by consuming your one only PJ slot to get it back lol.. with Chemist!!”
Aesthetically I'd want Geomancer cause I liked the flourish for the 2 bell ringing animations it had. However I have no hopes for anything creative on actual job mechanics.
I wouldn't like a Phantom Job crossing over, but some Phantom Jobs actions could be part of some existing jobs.
For example, Predict and AST are a match made in heaven.
Chemist as a real job
Also allow all Phantom Jobs in all content for Healers.
Unfortunately they mentioned they tried Chemist, its apparently what became Sage. And to be honest i wouldnt even remotely consider phantom Chemist to be a good iteration of a Chemist job either really...
Squares only healer in the last 10 years is “bad SCH” so I don’t have any faith
How about Bard? Like the actual one and not a ranger pulling flutes out their ass
If they "tried" Chemist and it became Sage because they couldn't reasonably make a [Mix] and [Stash] (non-consuming items,i.e. normal actions) action set, then no offense they either were:
1.) Playing it way too safe with job design like usual
2.) Are too stubborn to accept a version of Chemist that isnt functionally similar to non-XIV variants of the job (hello Blue Mage)
3.) Are unironically lacking the creativity to design the job - which blows my mind considering how one could pick parts of past FF titles and even Bravely/Octopath titles and check for any item based job there.
NIN has mudras, which are essentially Mix but for Ninja. PCT proves you can have long gcd casts not doing damage as long as the resulting potencies after are good enough. And if you want oGCD mix, once again old Mudras, but could make it so you prep the steps like with buffs.
Here some Mix things to consider:Quote:
[Editor's Note]
- [Stash] is a command series in FF 10-2 for the coresponding Chemist job that allows the player to use items at no cost to their actual arsenal, but had long cast times rather than instant + it wouldn't interact with passives that boosted regular items
[Effect] Curing reagent, harming reagent, debilitating reagent, boosting reagent (they dont share CD)
[Range] Condensing solution (single target), scattering solution (AOE circle), volatile solution (line / cone AOE)
[Duration] Dilute (weaker, but long lasting), Capsule (triggers after some time after ingestion), "Syringe" (instant application)
[Extra] Purify (simple effect, strong with no extras), <something for bonus effects>
I just scribbled this down in like 10min. As for Stash, imagine having your Cure II equivalent be Stashed Hi-Potion (MP cost included), Raise is Stashed Phoenix Down, Medica is Stashed Mega potion etc. Hell you can make mix just modify stash actions too. So if I hear "we tried" like no offense you didnt try hard enough.
But at that point you are 7 degrees of separation away from the original question which is making phantom jobs into real jobs by replacing what phantom chemist currently is with a fully imagined version of chemist loosely based on older versions of chemists
Like at that point I can basically say “I want phantom oracle as a real job and phantom oracle should just play like HW SCH”
Basing it on its complete lack of merits as a current phantom job I’m not sure what anyone sees in chemist
A popular concept is that Chemist would use something like NIN's Mudra system for mixing potions. Another one is that it would be a 'physical healer,' and would use weapon skills, and abilities over spells. So what could be done is that each ingredient has a relatively high MP cost so the job's gameplay revolves around the physical act of mixing potions, and a greater focus on MP management. It could take a lot of inspiration from like Ana from Overwatch.
Since phantom jobs are based on FF5 jobs and we might get it around the same patch cycle the content for it is released, Beastmaster and Blue Mage, except not-limited.
Chemist would be a nightmare, and they have steered clear of making jobs that require consumable items to effectively play their role.
Please no.
Personally how I would imagine Mixing working if they implemented it would be basically just Ninja's Mudras.
Ph. Chemist was actually done pretty well considering the FFV source.
If they ever consider adding it to main game not having a material cost for some healing spells it would be a total shame aswell! :(
Imagine having to prepare/grind materials or use ALC made stuff as consumables per cast in regular dungeons, heck make them more potent than other healers to compensate for the prep, and in case someone doesn't prep they still have a weak heal they can use. It would definitely add a lot of variety versus the other healers! ♥
Best bet I have is Geomancer caster DPS in the future. Since WHM kind of steered away from the nature's elements.
I don't recall much about FFV but you could be right. Personally when I think of Chemist I think of FFT where they're throwing potions at people. The OC version just uses the generic "use item" animation and the abilities are all pretty uninspired. Adding a material cost to casting is also obnoxious in the same way needing arrows to play bard would be.
I can only speak for myself but I don't want Chemist because it's "Using Your Inventory: The Job." I've been a proponent of adding it for years because I like the theme of healing from a scientific angle rather than a magical one and there's a ton of creative ways you can express that with alchemy, such as tossing a potion onto the ground to make some sort of healing gas cloud.
If anything the OC version seems to demonstrate that the devs don't really understand why people have been asking for this job. I've actually been meaning to write up a post going over some of the reasons they've said it couldn't work in the past. Maybe I'll try to do that soon. :)
It would be nicer if we had utility skills and spells from main and phantom jobs that could make navigation and certain boss fights easier. That'd make jobs more unique where some are more useful in certain situations than others, but also important to give the rest their share of the spotlight eventually to balance it on the long run.
If Healers exclusively had access to Phantom Jobs outside of OC, they might be able to perform on the level of other roles. Healers are THAT horribly underdeveloped and undertuned.
I actually like Time Mage - I know it kinda sucks that the Slow doesn't always work on every piece of mobs but I like CC like that when it does work, I personally like the comet nuke, I like the instant spell button (I forget the other two spells atm but I enjoyed it)
I think that sub jobs as a concept over all is cool and I'm looking forward to when the second half comes out.
Finished Chemist and I LOVE the instant rez! I rezzed 5 people in half a minute, it was great! Not so thrilled about having to buy potions to do anything else with it though.
On Berserker, my last one, now… it only gets 2 skills and I have to get the last level to 12000? For what?!
Once I’m done, I’ll probably go back to Oracle because it’s still my favorite, followed by Geomancer and Time Mage when I want a little variety.
I would personally LOVE that. Realistically, not going to happen because people will b*tch and moan about having to buy or create consumable, but honestly it would give me satisfaction of using my crafting class (which I level up casually).
Man, now I'm sad we will never get this.....
This would be a terrible idea. The grind/gil cost associated with the job would be far too high for most players, especially for high-end content like savage and ultimate. The job would likely be shunned from most content as well due to the risk of them running out of consumables mid-duty(a particularly big risk for fights with door boss/checkpoints)
No, if we were to get Chemist as a proper job it's kit needs to work without consumables. Which, as has already been mentioned in this thread, has already been done with the X-2 iteration of the job.
