I'm barely even joking at this point...
Running a level 100 dungeon gives basically the same amount of tomes as the alliance roulette. If you want exp you can run a leveling dungeon instead. There is no reason to run the alliance roulette if you don't enjoy it.
I used to queue that roulette shortly before bed. If it was weeping city or anything higher than that, I'd happily stay. But if it was crystal tower or the very first void ark raid, I'd just take the penalty, log off, and get in bed.
Eventually though, I just stopped running it entirely and began simply queuing for the 24man alliance raids I wanted. Only they never popped, because barely anyone was playing. So then I simply quit.
Small hint - doing roulettes is not mandatory. If 15 min of CT is so traumatising, just skip Alliance Raids...
I just refuse to run these more than two days in a row. On the third day I enter alone, and if I get LoA or CT I gladly take the penalty and just leave.
They need to go back through all content not ARR and strip out every incentive to run the ARR alliances. Remove ARR alliances from every relic mechanism etc.
*OR* they could just rebalance thrm or sync then down to make them 'playable' content again, with a modicum of resistance.
Now if only jobs are actually fun to play at lower level, I might stay.
One of the consequences of shoving all the ‘fun stuffs’ to near cap level. Everything that comes before becomes increasingly barren. I sure love being told to oil the machine that keeps Free Trial players happy with my sub money daily.
Yup, that’s what I do. Make sure AR roulette is the last thing I want to do for a while. If I get CT raid pop, I’ll skip by bailing together with my friends. If no, we’ll stay.
The party won’t suddenly die should they suddenly find their 2 healers and 2 other DPS leaves them for good. It will backfill. Penalty? Who cares about penalty if that continues to tick when I’m offline lol.
it's not about AR Roulette being mandatory, I don't really care about that, it's about how fun it can be, on the rare occasion it spits out something other than Crystal Tower (and/or Shadow of Mhach, but even those are a marginal improvement)...
this needs to be expanded , all roulette needs to be adjusted for the characters levels , im done and tired of doing lvl 20 dungeons or trials(even with the option limited leveling roulette ticked) , i just hate having 3 skills , those 15 mins feels so long and absolutely boring, put sprouts with mentors and the rest pair us with dungeons of our current level.
and for the love of everything that's sacred....get rid of MSQ and their annoying unskippable CS's
ARR in general brings down roulettes by a mile, no one wants to go over the same old content with a boring half rotation.
Either make the content actually fun (which should be the case) or at the very least make a ARR roulette for all the ARR content so I can actually get something fun for once
For my whole Whitemage leveling career as a sprout to the game, roulette sent me ONLY to ARR dungeons until the day I hit 90. Then, it suddenly sent me to Tower of Zot. It's needless to say I was quickly kicked from the dungeon for not knowing most of my buttons. xD
Or we make all alliance raids mandatory for MSQ, that would solve the problem.
¨Don't remove the penalty, reduce the item level cap for each CT raid severe, so you actually will run into all the mechanics, it would make it more fun and interesting.
ok so can healer not have penalty for pairing with a pal and warrior to? (lv54+) of course they will not so why would you? the other problem with AR roulette is that CT is now mandatory for new player. it's easy everyone complain about a half rotation but the reason why we lose skills is to not be overpower compared to legit lv50 that are running it but again what might I know isn't?
Since CT Raids are sadly Storybound and new player need to do it (not without reason theres is a 95% chance of getting the newbie poetic bonus) im against removing the penalty for it
and tbh for the time/reward investment, i rather take a 10 min CT Raid then a 30min+ nier or stormblood alli raid
Or they could just address the root causes of this issue...
Counterpoint: I've landed a handful of lower level dungeons in regular roulettes that I hadn't been inside since the graphics update and WOW do they look different and improved. So at least in regular dungeons you have some pretty scenery to gawk at while you press your 5 available buttons.
As for the CT raid series, you get those because they're mandatory content and new players have to do it. I haven't had a run since 7.0 where there hasn't been at least one new player bonus in alliance roulette. I found out by accident that they removed the ability to cheese iLVL in alliance roulette; you have to have a bare minimum level of gear once you hit each of the breakpoints of 60-70-80-90 and it will not let you even queue up unless you're at it. (Cue my hurriedly crafting my viper some bridge gear until I could access the Riversbreath stuff I'd held onto. Accidentally got rid of my 90 Scouting gear...)
Rescaled they will be that long anyway, but that isn't the only issue, really.
Due to it being mandatory for the story-- and the only one that is-- The roulette leans heavily to this, since people will have to unlock it. So even if you make it more engaging by actually seeing the mechanics, people will get just as sick of them with that as what they are now.
I only begrudgingly do it at the start of an expansion, then I go 2 years of not touching the roulette (or MSQ). Tomes and exp are easy to come by.
I will be honest, there are times CT feels more engaging than Nier raids, Nier raids have this issue where the enemy HP bars just feel too big, and there are several portions of those raids where the boss just stands there doing nothing besides autos for way too long at time while their HP bars whittles down at such a glacial pace I can feel it on my skin, I sincerely feel those raids would become significantly faster, more fun, and even harder, if you slashed their HP bars by like 25-40%, and increased their mechanics frequency by a proportional amount.
Unpopular opinion, but honestly I will stay for CT raids, Mhach, Ivalice etc but I leave the moment I queue into Nier raids. I just do not enjoy the aesthetic, the glams, the characters, the story, etc etc etc, esp the one that is just grey boxes. I also just do not care for the Nier games mostly due to the aforementioned reasons as well. After hearing so much praise for it I tried automata and was just not impressed, even as someone who loves philosophy so much I would take philosophy classes for fun in college. Leveling an alt right now and am just not going to unlock them. I will happily sleep my way through a CT raid, rather than stare at the yuck that is the Nier raids
If anything I wish I could just block Nier out of my queue more than anything, we really should have an option to exclude 3 dungeons or raids per roulette, story not included since it only has 3. That way I can also not have to deal with 1000 maws, good king mog and the new one that was ruined at the end by the dumb cat lady. Others I will begrudgingly stay in but that last one I also drop the moment I enter too just because I hate her so much that it...it...the f...it...flam...flame...flames, on the sides of my face
Only problem with CT is people being too scared to tank Bone Dragon in the middle.
Being able to veto raids or leave them without penalty defeats the purpose of said roulettes to begin with.
They did some steps in the right direction when they placed the ilvl restrictions to stop people from cheesing but there is still more steps that need to be taken to improve the AR roulette experience, like making CT raids optional again (the ShB cutscenes CAN accomodate for people who didn't play through those raids) and to ensure people unlocks all ARs available to their highest level job by locking the Roulette behind completion requirements after hitting each milestone (needing to unlock Ivalice at level 70, Nier at 50 and so on).
Even so, the roulette will remain slightly skewed towards CT raid because they're the earliest AR everyone can access to and, thus, the most accessible by level (50+) but it would less noticeable than now.
Why not just get rid of the penalty altogether. I've been tanking since 2018 and it's rare but I get the odd group where It's just ridiculous pulling and stupidity. You shouldn't be penalized for leaving a horrible group.
Rework CT raids, and make it actually fun imho. Make Cloud of Darkness an easier version of the chaotic version.
Will never happen, It's the only way they can incentivize people to carry new players through ARR.
Square Enix refuses to retire CT and make it into a skippable cutscene, CT and Stormblood are two reasons why i'll never make a new character.
Styr Aegis is my final character, I have a habit over the years of making a new character for every expansion . . Never again. It was bad enough having to restart on PC when i couldn't figure out how to fuse my playstation account & steam account.
So now i just use my playstation one as a storage when i don't got any more inventory or i want to jumpstart a new character.
Split CT raids into a separate roulette. People would still run it for the extra exp and tomes, but people fed up with it would be able to skip it and run only the non ct roulette.
Or they could rework them to turn them into dungeons and move them to msq roulette but that requires work, so not gonna happen.
CT are the only alliance raids everyone has to do. Of course you're going to see them most often. Kind of funny because people said they would be happy if SE adjusted the ilevel cheesing thing, and they adjusted that, and now you're asking for this. Just don't do them if you can't roll with what you get.
I despise the Nier raids. I stay in them because I signed up for a roulette and I don't get to choose what it gives me. That's how random matching works. If we don't like what we're given, we can leave but we will get a penalty because the system is counting us filling the spots that are needed. Not bailing on them just because it wasn't what we wanted.
Except nier raids don't come up 90% of the time like the CT raids do. Yes, that's how the system work, good job captain obvious. The whole point of the thread is that the system is bad and needs to be changed because of the over representation of the CT raids.
In decades of using the internet I never understood why when people criticize the way something work, there are always obtuse people replying with "that's how it works".
