I want a pictostrike

(Titlle is obviously a silly remark. Pictomancers are getting well paid for their carries in current content, and soon in the chaotic raid content)

Today as I was doing Ultimate on PF (practices) It broke my heart several of times when casters tried joining. Every day now for a week I pay VERY close attention to OTHER caster recruitments (recruitments made by blackmages especially) Their PT unfilled every day hours upon hours I felt so horrible I try to cheer them on in tells. This is PURELY because nobody want to join their PT as they are NOT playing pictomancers. No longer do I see redmages in sight, Summoners are also forced to change their jobs. When casters joined and asked "Can I have D4?" (For EU/NA players this means M2 which is JP's fixed caster position) every time they are told to leave "That seat is for pictomancers only. Please leave." And I got mad at one point "Can you not rely so much on Pictomancers!?" But they wouldn't have it. "It's my PF and I want to make progress and not get stuck on enrage" it's utterly selfish and this UNBALANCED JOB ISSUE is becoming a COMMUNITY issue. I want to see back my redmages, summoners and Blackmages, I am sick of seeing them sit in recruitments with NO people participating for playing a job that isn't their main. Can I also mention that recently WARRIORS are taken off of recruitments and some starting to recruit "PLD/GNB" and the other tank as only "DRK" for the extra DPS??

Please give Warrior some of Picto's power and put Picto in their SUPPOSED place in their job role. They may be strong still, but this is OVER the top!

Is it really such a surprise that certain groups would want meta comps?
seems like a crutch if anything

idk what else to say, I haven't seen much of the behavior mentioned in PF myself unless it's just a FRU thing since I don't think I can see groups for that

Not sure if the chaotic raid'll have much downtime mechanics, which is a big part of what makes PCT so favored in Ultimates.

I usually see a few PFs on Aether requiring PCT in a slot for FRU (or just have the party lead as PCT). I won't be surprised if some players feel pressured to go with PCT anyways though. I've honestly been hesitant to give it a try since my only geared jobs are RDM and MCH right now.

Sorry BLMs, SMNs, and RDMs. Pictomancers will feel bad if they aren't the supreme meta pick for all end-game content, so we cannot nerf them at this time. Please look forward to taking a back seat for the rest of the expansion.

It's not a community issue, it's a balance issue, devs' fault. Many players will just always default to the meta IF said meta is far ahead of the rest.

It is what it is, especially in content like ult. Same for pvp or any game really.

Honestly having a PF say last spot is PCT only kind of shows they rely on an overstrong job then try to clear it with skill (this is obviously a joke and not ot be taken serious. I am a tank player for end game content)

I agree with you there like look cooldown being strong sure but potency of everything else can be lowered to make it more fair I do not know the blackmage stance if it is still as bad as before tho(DT release)

i kinda want the community to take a stand against picto brokenness and just not indulge in the job. because rn picto has killed all the ranged and all the casters. and this goes against XIVs job design.

but what is they say again? if you want to test a mans character give him power?

A potency nerf wouldn’t change how it plays. The fact is that atm there is a balance issue and it’s frustrating when you want to play another caster and some groups just want picto and nothing else.

I am happy for it to remain as-is. Red mage and Summoner have had to suck it up due to BLM so let picto have its time. Other jobs have had to suffer being left out of groups and we all had to deal with it.

If Pictomancer is not touched next week when Chaotic drops, I'm going to unsubscribe as that's the day my subscription this month runs out. I'll hang up my BLM rod permanently as FFXIV no longer will have any needs at all for any other Caster jobs except the new overpowered Splatoonmage.

Seems some people like to be contrarian. Bringing Picto back in line with the rest won't further break the balance compared to bringing everyone up to them. Playstyle would be the same as others said but also open up for those of us that are not a fan of the silly painting, like i enjoy black mage personally for it's visuals. I'm not even at end game but have seen threads on here, youtube videos talking about it, reddit and so on. Weren't it even picto that made Square have to buff threat for tanks due to how much burst they had available?

I understand where your coming from but a Picto strike won't happen, anyone who refuses to play Picto will only remove themselves from the potential of getting a raid spot, it's only up to SE to balance this abomination of a job otherwise the Picto army will only grow.

Yeah they had to increase tank Threat generation due to PCT burst and aoe damage is so wild.
And PCT is also the reason for the chance to Limit Break gauge generation to stop groups from just stacking multiple PCT.

That kinda shows how poorly and wildly overpowered this one Job is. And because they raised all other jobs damage to try match PCT, they didn't have time to rebalance the Savage bosses making the tier easier than they planned.

PCT is broken and has been allowed to run free for 6 months now. Time to fix this issue now before Chaotic. I bet all the parties will skip Limit Breaks and just put 12 PCT in the 24 man groups to obliterate the fight xD

Tank agro generation was because of lazy tanks who wouldn’t actually do AOE to get agro on mobs

What you did with PCT before the change you also did with ark mohn and technical finish in 6.x

That was just compensation for lazy tanks

The answer is simple, you got one sample set of data in one situation that you can use. So what, it has downtime bonus, yes. :what: how are they supposed to have fun when they're literally locked out of pfs or completely invalidated out of there own roles (ranged) over the job they play. i think you do not play ranged or caster.. or not in high in content, or you main picto and think everyone else is complaining while you live the good life

Because that is essentially a fabricated comment? As it is quite easy to look up this point, I'll just elaborate on it. Thanks to xivpf, I could not even find a PF that had it locked out the caster jobs at all. Even combinations to the point of double physical ranged are posted at the time of my writing this.

I'll admit I do not dive into Ultimate, so you got me on that. However I've cleared tier on both PCT and DNC. I actually got my alt dancer to 100 just cause every night we had to fill for Physical range we spent hours waiting for any of the three to jump in. To be honest? Yea I think the BLM argument of needing it to be the top caster damage is falling on deaf ears. Square Enix themselves have made the point clear. Regardless of how they change it, redesign it, or what not. PCT was from conception going to be a rival to BLM. It's been said in patch notes, live letter, and so on. It's a dead horse and tired of hearing it.

As for what I think on the matter of its downtime bonus, I've said this elsewhere and I'll say it here as well. I do think other jobs deserve some downtime abilities. It would require building each up from ground again, but that is a byproduct of designing one job up versus to redoing all of them. I'd also love to see a break from the 2-minute burst windows and a change of how encounters and fights are. I'd say that would make for a point to actually change how fights and what job benefits where. As right now, if you want to sweat the meta, there is no reason to bring anything but the top 4 damage jobs and rest the comp for optimization.

I'd rather have my 'overpowered' PCT with their unique downtime options than to sterilize them like the rest of the roster, thanks. WAR's BW were, and still inconceivably powerful for a tool of its caliber, yet many turns silent because they love their overpowered unga bunga buttons(????). I hope more and more people silently enjoy their overpowered splatoon mage too and maybe enforce more and more class lockout, so SE will finally spend a dime to foresee their jobs for once.

It's not a surprise but the balance of PCT vs BLM is unforgivable. PCT does more damage, has more utility, and is easier to play. I understand SE wants people to play the new classes, but this borders on negligent.

Hot take, BLM now is in a worse place than friggin Machinist. The job some people considered trolling to take on Savage progression in DT.

The only fight in the same where you are the legit potentially making it harder on yourself to not take is FRU and that’s because of the motif design

If your caster or melee are blaming a lack of PCT for savage or extreme damage then there is many other things you should be looking at first

Oh 100%, but let's be real, that's not how most raids work. PCT is--at the end of the day--topping numbers, and those numbers are what people are going to look at. Someone could be a 99th percentile black mage, and most people will still take the PCT for party even if they gray parse. I know it. You know it. This happened to WAR and PLD last expansion during P8S. And that was over tank DPS.

Also as a class who has to put in more effort for my damage and has no utility, I expect my damage to be better than a class that has offensive utility and is easier to play--at least in the same role as me. Sorry-not-sorry.

There is no such thing as offensive utility in this game, raid buffs aren’t utility, you can argue tempra grassa is utility and I’d agree but basing the entire balancing design off the existence of tempra grassa is a bit much don’t you think

And balancing based on “PF meta vibes” is literally the worst thing I can possibly imagine

But I'll argue more than Grassa. To use Flare Star we need to have a perfect rotation in the fire phase within a set period of time, or lose the cast. Remind me what PCT has to do for its big damage abilities again?

This isn't just about PCT being overtuned, it's about BLM being handled about as well as the DT MSQ.

Saying raid buffs aren’t utility isn’t splitting hairs it’s literally just basic truth. If anything trying to pretend like a raid buff is a form of utility is overselling a classes limited utility. PCT’s functional utility is grassa. A powerful but not game breaking ability

BLM was handled terribly in DT but difficulty has almost never played into damage. I agree with you that difficulty SHOULD play into damage which is why I’d actually prefer BLM be ahead in full uptime extrapolation of current data shows they mostly are at least in rDPS. But there is really no way to put BLM ahead in FRU because BLM hates downtime

However current BLM being handled terribly in its design isn’t PCT’s fault. PCT could do SMN level damage and flare star would still be a shit ability forcing a shit rotational design on BLM.

If they nerf the potency then it will not work as intended. The point was to be a job to compete with BLM, which means it will have high damage. In any fight outside of FRU, it has been proven it can be out damage by both melee and BLM. Hence why it is not the top damage for each encounter. It works as intended, stop trying to break something that is essentially how they designed it. FRU is the only issue, which again is not enough of a matter to look at. Especially when on average it is what? 3K Difference in damage? That is all you are looking at difference wise, which is amusing you think that matters much when you are talking 27K vs 30k. Barely 10% difference, and that is assuming you are pulling weight to be doing median, could be doing worse, could be doing better.

The only real matter is people need to stop looking to Meta and trying to skip mechanics, cause I know I see plenty of points of party comps only trying to damage through mechanics rather than learning them, which is a fault on the player rather than job or mechanic design. Cause tell me, how many PF you see wanting to do Skiprise, or any the fights now aiming to end before any the mechanics that require solving? I'm sure its higher than not.

Which it is not, much like how PF is not right now. Gone over this enough times as looking up globally PF right now proves otherwise. Yes there is some groups locking to PCT, but I see far more not locking it.

So Square Enix is now in charge of party finder? Here I got a fix for you. Square Enix instead remove the ability to lock out jobs. Force it to require a meta of 2 Melee, 2 Ranged, 2 Healer, 2 Tank. Done. No longer issue. You can no longer can be excluded. I'll even throw the vein of 1 Magical / 1 Phys Ranged, so MCH don't get left out. Oh and enforce 1 Player per Job by default so nobody in any job gets locked out for some meta combo.

So do tell me, since you feel it is so breaking care to bring the math out to prove the notion? As you are arguing that 3K DPS is so tantamount to destroying the game, I guess we should reduce all jobs to 24K peak DPS. After all to be fair to the lowest damage job. That will mean however you better be performing at the peak of your capability, else the content will be impossible. As at best that is only 96K of which leaves 13K per tank/healer for current content to clear. No skipping mechanics anymore, as the damage will never be enough to do so. It will be all skill, or you fail. I think that sounds like a far more amicable option, and entirely nullifies the job diversity exclusion and the damage issue.

Destroy? You're going to be disappointed if it doesn't have downtime. Mostly because you have no idea what you're talking about and lack the game knowledge necessary to know why picto is strong.

This is the perfect example of coming into discussion with not enough knowledge.

Pictomancer thrives in "Downtime Heavy" fights, these are exclusive to Ultimate's, the rest of the game are "Full Uptime" fights. Savage, Normal Raids, Alliance Raids, Extremes, pictomancer is not top DPS in these. Given that the fights are tuned for 24 players but possible with 12 players with NO scaling that does not put a tight DPS check on the fight, so it can be predicted already that a tight DPS check is not a thing in this.
