Painter is ironically uncreative

You shoot paint at the enemy, you drop paint bubbles on the enemy, you make a ring out of paint.

Just gotta say, paint mage, not pictomancer. You have the magical power to manipulate paint, but not paint.
I can respect people saying its gameplay plays well though. Seems a lot like samurai in caster form though? Fill out three sets of combos.

Do you even have Pictomancer unlocked?... but no, it plays nothing like Samurai. The combo system does not interact with the motifs whatsoever, and both work quite differently from anything Samurai has.
And, ymmv depending on what you think good aesthetic is, but I thought the RGBW into CMYK combo system was very clever and I quite like the motifs (the actual paintings).
When I swapped from BLM to PCT I was put off from the aesthetic and, while I don't still love it, I've grown to appreciate it a lot, I think it's well executed.

It doesn't even slightly play or feel like Samurai, you are talking out of your ass.

You paint your motifs during combat and use them to execute specific actions. It has a 1-2-3 combo and another 1-2-3 that costs resources to use, neither of which interact with the motifs, but build their own gauge/resource. Its pretty fun, I levelled Viper first but I'm finding Picto to be a lot more enjoyable, even during the early levels, I can see it being my favorite caster by a wide margin. The actual way it plays is quite creative for this game and the animations are fun and set it apart from any other job.

Uhh…what else they gonna make pictures with? Crayons?

PCT’s closest analogue is ShB SMN, not SAM (I literally have no idea how you thought of SAM unless you didn’t even unlock it you just saw 3 motifs and assumed they were 3 different endings to the paint combo which they aren’t

Pictomancer is the most fun job I have played after Stormblood summoner imo. I am not even that mad they ruined my job anymore.

I'm still mad but PCT is basically ShB SMN without all the jank (other than the hammer combo needing 2 buttons just to activate it) so I'm thrilled at the same time. It feels like home.

I was expect something like NIN's mudra(fuse colors/ideas?) but no :(

Im criticizing the visuals of pictomancer being uncreative. I think i saw a paint laser today... really?

I’m still confused on what job you are actually looking at

The core filler rotation is “casting paint” but done in a creative way (you cast RGB to get white then flip it to cast CYM to make black), the rest of the rotation is actually painting things that you then use

Creature motif- paint a rain of poms then a set of wings to make a moogle, then paint a claw and a maw to make a madeen
Hammer motif- paint a hammer to bash your enemy with 3 times over
Landscape muse- paint a star streaming landscape to empower your spells and unlock two large finisher nukes representative of the fact that the power of these nukes came from you painting a landscape

Over half the job is using items that you paint, I don’t understand your criticism

I mean no it’s not revolutionary but by the standards of a filler rotation it’s better than most classes considering it has 4 unique elements and 2 gauges to interact with

Tf is wrong with paint lol ? I initially thought the effects quality was average when they first showed it in the trailer but it looks pretty good ingame, and the animations look nice. Beyond Relm, reminds me of the more recent bravely default games.

I just think using magic to literally throw paint at people is dumb when it should be more about altering reality with painting, like conjuring the magic hammer, moogle creatures and such.

This is literally what the PCT does !! I actually think that PCT playstyle is a full work of art that embodies what Relm does in a job. Hopefully we keep getting stronger and we get more landscapes and motifs.

Aside from those two I don’t think there’s another representation of a pictomancer, which makes it unique too.
