Better planning for maintenances

With all due respect SE needs a better planning for maintenances. It is really possible to plan a more suitable time for maintenances. Today’s maintenance chosen time is hard to accept. It could be reasonable depending of the duration of the maintenance but a 4h window maintenance is way too much for a weekend with high volume of players.
And there is also the fact now that we can not log-in due to the number for concurrent log-in attempts.

Again, with all due respect I do ask SE to better plan future maintenances even emergency ones as a way to minimize impacts on us (customers) and avoid overload on you server side. A maintenance policy should be implemented or revisited in case there is one.

The longer they waited to fix the xbox issues the more money they would lose from having to give all xbox players free game time.

Yep, they just put the maintainance in the middle of the weekend lmao.

It was an Emergency Maintenance... normally its tuesday. It never was on a saturday for the last years....

Emergency maintenances aren't planned. They are done as soon as possible, not when it would be convenient. If they could wait until a more convenient time, they wouldn't be emergencies.

So because it is an emergency then you don’t need to plan? I don't mean to be disrespectful but next time you're going to pay a bill and your bank is out because they also have emergency maintenances you can go after 4 hours later and try to pay your bill again and everything is ok? No, sorry, it is not ok. Maintenance Policy is there even for "emergencies".

Even an emergency should be planned ahead of time. If they had an emergency maint to do, they should of grabbed some employees to work this weekend due to an emergency so any customer who has purchased the expansion and subscription will be able to get the assistance needed.

edit; I've been busy all week, just got a puppy, father been sick, etc etc and as soon as I finally get time to do some catching up, I'm locked out of my game and character because my standard key I wasn't aware of having to insert is suddenly invalid and there is no one to assist me on the weekend due to their schedule. I know my schedule isn't their issue but to claim an 'emergency' is the reason I'm locked out of my game is pretty absurd when I'm paying monthly for it and the sub is NOT cheap!

Ho-ly guys, you are acting like the time of maintenance actually had impact on something.

Savage isn't out, new ultimate isn't out, ranked pvp is in preseason, no world-first of anything is happening and the maintenance was to my knowledge not 24h. FFXIV may be a paid service (those maintenances are covered for in TOS), but not having access to the game for a few hours for once on a weekend shouldn't be throwing all your weekend plans in disarray.

Because it is an emergency, you can't plan in advance for when they happen. If you knew when they would happen, they would hardly be emergencies.

If I am going to pay a bill, and my bank is closed due to an emergency, then unless my own planning is lousy (and usually even then) I can indeed easily wait 4 hours or 24 hours and try again and everything is ok.

yeah square, and everyone for that matter, please plan your emergencies around my busy itinerary /s

I pay monthly to play the game and in a sense I'm a tad obligated to get through MSQ as quickly as possible not because of savage or any content you name but to basically avoid spoilers cause the internet, been super busy so I had a lot of trouble trying to play it through the weekday and when I finally get an opportunity to get real time to play the game, I'm hit with what feels like I lost my expansion I paid for and have to wait till my next busy schedule to fix an issue they created.

Ya, I think I have a right to be upset. Maybe not as much as you are imagining me being but yes, I'm pretty upset.

You're going to tell us that it's impossible to plan for emergencies? Like, really?

Please scroll up to my previous post. I already explained how they could of planned for this. It wasn't difficult to think up either.

What are you even talking about? You're saying there's nobody there on the weekend but they did the maintenance and fixed the problem today, on a weekend? And you're talking about a completely different issue lol? The maintenance was for Xbox crashing issues.

It was at like 9 in the morning EST, that's one of the points in time where there would be the least impact. The maintenance needed to happen ASAP because the Xbox version wasn't working since Early Access.

My guy, this isn't out of the ordinary here. As many have already said here and in another forum post. Emergency is exactly that, an emergency. You can wait on it, xbox players have been through the ringer from the start. This is one of the top priorities they had to fix, especially during a new expansion launch. Waiting for either next Tuesday or even 7.01 patch would cost SE alot of money. If your in NA I'm sorry but the patch happend early morning and only lasted less than their predicted 4 hours. Having a fit because a few hours is lost is weird. And let's not forget that the extra space for servers has lessened queue times, if they hadn't done that you would have still lost those hours maintenance or no.

If you are worried about spoiler, and I would be too and understand what you mean. There's a pretty easy fix.

One. wipe your youtube history, search history,
Two.turn off all say, shout, yell, tell and even FC chat if you need to.
Three. Stay away from anything related to ff14, or any social media like Twitter or the 14 forums for that matter.
Four. Maybe get a youtube thumbnail blur extention for chrome?

I'll be blunt and say it's a you issue with spoilers. And we all pay a sub just like you, mine is a non standard with a full 10 retainer account at $56 bucks a month canadian, and you don't see me complaining. This is standard fair for not only MMO's but online as a whole, an emergency is an emergency and needs to be fixed ASAP. It's in the TOS that you agree to abide by.

They can certainly plan for what to do when an emergency happens. What they can't do is plan emergencies, so they know when they will happen.

And I am sure they had plans for how to handle an emergency, and followed that plan - which involved calling in people on the weekend to fix the problem as soon as possible, even if it is not a convenient time for everyone. If they could have waited until a more convenient time, it wouldn't have been much of an emergency.
