That's a good idea there... I wouldn't be surprised if someone died saving us
What a bad ass.
I salute you Louisoux.
Thank you for levelling all those crafts I couldn't bother to level myself.
Dear Louisoix, WHY SEND US FORWARD IN TIME! The Empire in 2.0 has stalled in it's advance, Mor Dhona is only 1/3 taken over, hell we miss trains being invented, just use some Anima to tele all of us somewhere nice and safe, then we can go have a nice beach party of something!
He's gotta be at least level 75.
:(
: ((((((((
Yeah I was also thinking about the time travel part..if he's able to send people through time and space, why not send us back in time to stop all of this from happening rather than sending us into a future which is even worse than the present?:x
At least right now, Eorzea can still be saved...
If I had to guess I'd say it's because Eorzea currently cannot be saved from Dalamud. As we see in the trailer the sky is indeed falling and a small moon is targeting us. From my understanding we're some of the only survivors because of his actions. If he doesn't send us forward to after the impact we'd likely just die anyway.
So, we know that he dies but what about the others? Y'da, the Lalafell, etc?
With the powers that he has, I wonder if he's simply the elder leader of Sharlayan or something much more...
He's been holding out making us do everything until now, well, holding out on everything except making your ears bleed everytime you strike up a conversation with him.
All this time I thought he made us fight primals because he's lazy.
Secretly, he's been training us.. Developing us to make us stronger. DUN DUN DUN!
But, no really. It will probably be the whole "You're the only one that can save us in the future! FLY YOU FOOLS!"
Let's be fair guys. The trailer is rather ambiguous as to his fate.
Also, if you watch the scene where he's looking up, just before it cuts the behemoth, you'll notice his shield is actually reforming.
Good riddance. This asshole makes you talk to him three times between beating Ifrit and receiving a new lamp. He trolls you by giving long soliloquies every single time you talk to him.
DIAF Louisoix. DIAF.
When I saw his face nearly drained of Energy fighting off Dalamud and Sacraficing himself.. ( assuming he died from it) I nearly cried... =(.
Thank you Louisoix You are a true Warrior Just like Fang and Vanille Stopped Cocoon from Falling you, Rised up and Protected what you could against it!
Hats off to you Brethren!
I don't know I just hope they have a memorial for the npcs who died saving us the heroes of the story
There is a theory that the past can not be changed, and sending us back would result in us potentially dieing, causing the 7th Umbral Era all over again while another set of adventurers dealt with the "current situation" (vague for spoilers on purpose)
Thus sending us back in time means the future is still screwed =)
Well also it creates a paradox. If he sends us back in time and we fix it then he would of had no reason to send us back in time in the first place.
gotta love time travel
How do we know he doesn't make it? Yeah it LOOKS grim, but remember that he's also one of the Archons. I'm willing to bet the old bugger found a way to make it out. We're just your average adventuring dregs remember.
And if not, who's going to serve as the NPC for the primal battles in 2.0 ?
I'm pretty sure Louisoux wasn't an archon. The talk of archons was nothing more than rumors coming from the people in Eorzea. It was reinforced through the garlean temporary events that there was a man who was either a spy from Garlea or an archon. This guy turned out to be Urianger (or however you spell his name). These people are just members of a circle who deals in the prophecies of the umbral ages.
In truth I don't recall much about what an Archon really is. But I thought they were representatives of the twelve sent to reverse the umbral age (I'm sure I'm remembering this incorrectly). Doesn't that make us very similar to an archon? And who knows what power Louisoux called on to send us forward in time. It could very well be the blessing of the twelve.
I would be interested in the speculation of someone who knows the lore better than I.
Yeah like what all the other peeps said. Traveling back in time would cause a Paradox or an alternate timeline which either changes nothing or screws everything over. Halting our age and sending us into the future, basically cryogenically freezing us and thawing us later if you want to think about it that way, since time is relative makes a lot more sense. It's a space time sort of thing. Maybe he cast teleport, threw us in a gravity chamber (since the more gravity is placed on you, the faster time goes by around you) and had a timer on when it teleports back. Look into Einstein's relativity.
Or....follow me here.....we play the game in two timelines.
The first is successful 1.0, where you halted Dalamud and prevented the 7th Umbral Era.
Then there's what we saw in the trailer, where you DIDN'T succeed.
A pair of cavernous maws connect the worlds.
BAZINGA.
>_> I think everyone is assuming he has control over this ability.
It could just be something that accidentally happens.
As others here have already mentioned, going backwards in time would create a paradox in which events that we have experienced already in game might never happened at all if we went back and stopped them. If that was the case, everything we have experienced thus far would be erased, but since we have knowledge of it, it means we haven't gone to the past to change it.
To be honest, time travel is an easy way out in terms of story development. I understand that they had to do something to move forward with the game, but it is still a let down.
Other things that bother me with the future of the game include:
1) What the heck happened to my companion? I know she was a little freaky and spent too much time in the Miner's Guild, but where has she been?
2) The voice in the opening CS/mission who gently reminded us to "think....feel..." So what the heck was that about?
3) The power of the Echo. Yeah...powerful stuff right there. Didn't do much good did it. And that little organization we belong to that helps us understand our power...didn't do anything. Sad.
There are plenty of other nuances with the story and lore that bug me, but I just thought I would toss those out there. I hope in 2.0 they answer more questions than they create. And don't come at me with the whole "that was a different director/producer" crap. Fix the lore. Build a culture. Create an environment.
/gets off soap box
To me it sounds like he placed us in stasis, or some form of Purgatory. Not so much cast us forward in time..
That's what I'm thinking trapped in the flow of the aether, it would also make the most sense considering our other enemy Oversized Helmet Bad Guy Number 2, has attempted on multiple occasions to stop the flow of aether by binding the aetherite Crystals and destroying the aether nodes.
Thanks for your sacrifice Louisoix, each breath I'll take in the fresh air of the new Eorzea land will be dedicated to you, you who relentlessly helped me level my DoH jobs. ;)
Well, he was getting on the veeeeeeery old side anyways...
Louisoix with the power of dalmund and knowledge of primals......................he will become odin.
Quick, to Louisoix's time travel machine!
