Ty, i was arguing about that, Have a great day! :)
looking at blackmage changes i dont see what the big deal is seems fine to me why was everyone crying again?
1. You're forced to use 6 fire 4's to get flare star, there were instances of early despair being useful.
2. You have to use ice spells during ice phase, where sometimes you would want to use a xenoglossy/thunder, get back to fire early, to finish off a boss where the three ice hearts aren't needed or if the boss is going up for a mech, so you cant target them.
3. Removes non-standard play. I don't mind this is gone personally, but others enjoyed nonstandard blm.
4. Thunder changes you can't apply two thunders easily to a double target situation.
5. No more Ice paradox for movement.
all these changes makes black mage more clunky and less flexible.
people are going to be upset about job changes and leave feedback, you may not understand it but I think i will listen to the black mage players why they didn't like the changes (or liked them) on this one.
About blackmage: they also nerfed the AoE potency on fire spell, then bumped up the Flare Star potency.
Enhanced Flare is dropped.
Manafont change and with Flare gives 3 Astral Heart make that if Flare Star is the endgoal, then somehow there is only one right answer to AoE rotation:
starting from Umbral Ice > Flare 2x > Flare Star, Manafont > Flare 2x > Flare Star
Idk, I just need more Triplecast to execute all those, man.
And Manafont seems to give Full MP from the moment it obtained, so no more weave between Firestarter.
I am gonna miss the fun of dumping all Triplecast and Swiftcast on all those Fire IVs and Despairs that are sandwiching Manafont.
Anything new, other than the role quest location change?
Disappointed in tanks
Pictomancer's skills seem similar to RDM in pvp (minus the melee part), perhaps I'll try it just for that.
Hmm I guess they're sticking to Suiton dealing fire damage when it's clearly a wind attack but ok , so weird
Looking at the changes to AST... Umbral Draw is entirely useless because of Lady ofWasted CardsCrowns, and now that Astrodyne would no longer be RNG it's removed. And aside from Malefic, their only other attacks are Earthly Star on a 60s CD, Lord of Crowns on a 60s CD and a new attack Oracle on a 120s CD.
There's also the fact that, going by the posted info in the job guide, Picto has the highest caster dps with a side of very good utility (offensive and defensive). You might want SMN for the rez, but it's likely either one or the other.
Years pass, and we keep coming back to caster balance disaster. 4.0, 4.4, 5.0, 5.2, 5.5, 6.0, 6.2... I'm really getting tired of them incrementally fixing the disaster that's the balance of this role to nuke it every few patches.
I mean I'm more disappointed with the fact they refuse to touch Shield bash or cover and refuse to give us new skills because of those abilities taking up hotbar space, it's sad to still see that they keep abilities that will be a excuse to why PLD can't have more buttons but also do nothing with them.
I think Tanks all need a massive overhaul but this isn't anything new from what I want.
Can anyone translate this:
"[Date & Time]

* Completion time is subject to change.
(This maintenance will not end before the scheduled ending time.)"
BLM's Flare Star looks like it could potentially be kind of an messy to use, as you need to use 6 Fire IVs and with a 3s cast you need to Swift/Triplecast it... I also kind of wonder why Flare Star is an AoE because it's never going to be usable in an AoE situation as you'd need to cast 6 Flares in a row to use it as an AoE spell... Unless you're using Fire IV to single target trash mobs...
And if you want to use Thunder, you need to let Astral Fire drop to become unaspected in order to gain a new Thunderhead to recast Thunder.
Balance has done the maths on PCT’s potencies and it exceeds BLM before you consider starry muse raid buff and before you consider PCT is also better at putting stuff inside raid buffs
So PCT does like 3% more aDPS, like 10% more rDPS and has better utility
PCT either needs to be nerfed or BLM buffed
What the post is saying is that maintenance is "scheduled" to complete at 0200 hours Pacific daylight time.

So much new stuff on NIN. I hope most are replacement actions and not completely new ones, else I'm going to have to completely re-do my bars and keybinds, then relearn the job.
Also, an attempt at a Ninjitsu cheat sheet for new Ninjas.
You have to hit one or two of the numbered buttons, followed by the named one and then Ninjitsu.Code:Action TEN CHI JIN
Fuma 1 1 1 (500 ranged)
Katon TEN 1 1 (350 fire AOE), Changes to Goka Mekkyaku (600 fire AOE) under Kassatsu
Raiton 1 CHI 1 (740 ranged) grants Raiju Ready
Hyoton 1 1 JIN (150 Ice), Changes to Hyoshu Ranryu (1300 Ice) under Kassatcu
Huton TEN 2 2 (240 fire AOE) Grants Shadow Walker
Doton 2 CHI 2 (80 ground DOT 18s)
Suiton 2 2 JIN (580 water) Grants Shadow Walker
I think you have the times flip-flopped because the expansion maintenances have always ended at 11 PM HST for me.
It looks like a lot but in practice the only "new" button they have to hit that doesn't automatically fit into their burst rotation is the TCJ follow-up.
Is this the most frugal expansion yet?
People don't like playing a class the way the devs intended it to be played. They're naturally mad when the devs force you to play it the way it's intended to be played. This sounds dismissive, but it's surprisingly precise since a lot of players conflated the classes identity with the ability to play the class in ways the devs didn't intend it to be played.
That said, it does add some problems. The class still has a catastrophic failure scenario because of timers, transpose-firestarter is still available to the class, umbral ice is vestigial at best, manafont despite being upgraded is actually worse now in that it only saves you exactly 3 GCDs (bliz 3, bliz 4, fire 3) without umbral soul or regen ticks, the class will suffer in dungeons below 76. Frankly I'd be surprised if the class didn't get a mid-expansion rework at this point. And oh, thunder having a DoT oddly is becoming substantially worse for the class due to timers and the high cost of failure. Would surprisingly make more sense to simply not be a DoT, but then the rotation would get incredibly long so it's not all good.
The devs are quoted as saying they wanted to make the class easier to understand and play (baseline level,) and didn't even bother touching the very thing that makes the class difficult to play, the timers.

Also, we now have proof the devs acknowledge scathe exists. WHY THE HECK IS IT STILL IN ITS GARBAGE ARR STATE?!
Some info on clusters and materia... and links to the job websites showing new skills for all jobs including DoH and DoL, and confirmed potencies. As well as PvP actions. (Which none have changed at this time, just have had Viper and Picto added.)
They also added a list of resolved issues, and new issues.
At level 84-94 the potency now works out to never use VerFire/Stone, since they crammed Jolt 3 in there.
I was planning on switching to Picto anyway but wow, that's so easy to figure out it's literally just a direct comparison between two numbers.
