Just stop playing healer and go play picto developers will see graphs then they will act upon it
While that would be a option, to few will follow up on that. We must not forget that only a small portion of the Players actually Reads the Forums.
Exactly. If we have a big shortage of healers, the game will be partially unfunctional in duties. The voices will be louder, and changes will be more immediate.
if i stopped playing healer then i wouldnt be able to get all jobs to max level, also if everyone quits healing then that just means more hero in need rewards for me
Is this thread satire? Is this a joke? Because that's exactly what the people supporting the strike are planning to do. Play something other than healer.
Do you really need your own low-effort special-snowflake thread?
I'll be using the "2 birds, 1 stone" approach for sure and leveling my healers exclusively on FATES so I can
1) support the spirit of #healerstrike by not using healer in DF
2) progress towards unlocking the Bicolor Gemstone shops by reaching the Shared FATE thresholds in new zones
3) saving up Bicolor Gemstones to buy things in new areas + EW areas since they made so many items Untradeable in EW... never got around to farming the BG
4) use excess BG towards Vouchers for Wivre mount and whatever other items they inevitably add for purchase with BG vouchers in DT
Not playing a healer and switching to DPS is literally what people are doing, though? And some people are acting like we're committing a crime. Personally, I'm having a blast on Dancer and it has made me realize that I wasn't burned out on the game, just on healing.
hehehe. nice
After the last healer shortage Yoshi-P was like 'yeah sometimes there's tank shortages too'
I still find healers more enjoyable to play than tank/dps.
(despite it's flaws)
So i'm gonna be Healer in DT too :)
Except that's unlikely to happen, especially with DT on the horizon. You're going to get new players, a plethora of returning players, etc.. When they see the "Role in Need" finally switches from Tank to Healer...they'll just fill the healer queues right back up. The playerbase is too large, and the loud forum cabal too minuscule, to have an effect worthy of attention.
It's more the diva mentality behind the "strike." It's the approach of "I want everyone to notice me, and I want the developers to change the game to suit me, even if it makes many, many more people dissatisfied."Quote:
Not playing a healer and switching to DPS is literally what people are doing, though? And some people are acting like we're committing a crime.
You don't like healing? Fine - don't heal. But trying to make yourself the center of attention for it is what's off-putting.
They're not, though. Many are talking about still healing for friends and statics. They talk about still leveling their healer. They are only striking from DF. One of their stated goals is not contributing to healer numbers but using the healer role at all is going to do exactly that. SE is going to look at how many level 100 X healers there are. The one place there may be some recognizable metric for SE to take into consideration is healer being the adventurer in need more often but even that's not a guarantee. There isn't going to be nearly the effect they think if they are willing to undermine their actions that way.
I will scholar if I want to.
The healers that are complaining aren't good enough to play DPS jobs.
I love how bad FFXIV players are, that they dont realise, it's possible to do every single dungeon in any party composition you want.
You want to clear with no Healer? Yes you can!
You want to clear without Tank? Yes you can!
You want to clear with only DPS? Yes you can also do it!
You want to clear with no DPS? Guess what!
Whoever agrees with this silly strike, it's better if they simply quit, if they think healers are not necessary because 1 video showing something thats in game for ages right now. The problem are not healers, but literally no difficulty in regular dungeons.

You can clear the hardest content without a healer, theres a problem.
Healers are becoming redundant, an entire role is losing its purpose, the people in the strike are quitting healing to play the 2 better roles they aren't quitting the game they are quitting the bad role.
The real reason you don't agree with the strike because you don't want to play healer but don't want long queue times as a DPS. Because people are just voicing their annoyance with a poorly designed role.
I mean we already seen healer shortages in pf for some tier in EW... plenty healers did stop playing healer. Myself included.
All the people saying they will still level and do occasional roulette on healer won't all be likely to fill up the pf :)
Once they have levelled the job many won't touch healer again because the jobs are simply too boring in comparison to others.
But they still made it, which is a problem especially since this was the same patch it released. Old ultimates from 7 years ago can't be cleared healerless yet the latest one was.
Make all the excuses you want but the fact its possible shows that the healer role can be managed by DPS and Tanks, the healer can't even do what its made for at the top level.

You are engaging with the discourse you can avoid it if you want. The world doesn't revolve around you let people debate on a topic.
Meh not even part of the strike ive been a dps main since ShB, I just support the strike because I want everyone who plays the game to have fun.
Also its interesting to see the forums actually get a bunch of people talking, you often see the same few people.
Every single DPS could of been a redmage and I would still see it as a problem. The same way if it was clearable without any tanks or without any DPS. If any ultimate is clearable without one of the trinity especially if it's a brand new ultimate that shows that the balance is completely messed up.
This isn't about me, its about the fact its possible on current content to remove a role from play. If the game is meant to be balanced around 2 tanks, 2 healers and 4 dps then it should be impossible to do it without that number.
Uh yeah these have been common complaints in the healer strike thread. Many people have said that outgoing damage should be increased and introductions of status effects should come back. Healers don't want to have a bunch of new heals or damage abilities they just want healing and damage to both be interesting.
Idk why you're so hung up on this the fact its possible is a problem its as simple as that. I've not seen evidence of clearing P8S with only healers, please link that I would like to see. If that is real then yes thats a HUGE problem considering the enrage would be incredibly low because healer damage is lower than both tanks and DPS.
It's funny how you want to prove your point by showing one off situation with team of best players knowing fight better than layout of their room that they live in 24/7 not going out cuz of no job or social life.People who literally min maxed whole group composition to cover every raidwide, and people able to dodge every single mechanic.
If you think its that ez to clear hard content then I dare you to clear any current tier savage raids with no healers, bah show me how you do regular extreme. If you think healers are still useless, then I dare you to go and clear ASS Savage without healer. you wont kill even 1 add before first boss.
You want to complain about how healers work? Then instead go and complain about in game difficulty of most content that even monkey can clear. Instead of complaining about healers you should ask for more raidwides, harder raidwides, more status effects that need to be dispeled, boss having more mechanics targeting players other thank tank etc. Healers are fine as they are, its just that 90% of content in game is the real problem.
You're skipping the part where it still took them over 200 wipes after they had refined their strategy for RNG to work in their favor with a lot of deaths just barely avoided by 2-3 HP.
If you don't enjoy healing, then don't heal. No one needs to announce what they like or don't like playing to the player base.
That many of the strikers are going to continue to play healer for their friends and statics shows they're what others are calling them - divas looking for attention.
If they were serious about not enjoying healing, they would not play healer for anyone or for any reason.
All credit to those who are serious and are quitting healing altogether. Gaming would be in a better place if more players followed their example and stuck to playing only what they enjoyed instead of doing whatever it takes to get useless pixel rewards.
Me? I still enjoy healing so I'll continue to be a healer. The occasions I've played with a group capable of smoothly completing content without a healer have been few. And when I say smoothly, I mean without unnecessary deaths caused by the lack of a healer in the party. That's the role of a healer - to keep the tanks alive so they can tank, keep DPS alive so they can deal damage. A healerless group clearing content by the skin of their teeth after multiple deaths and probably a few wipes is not impressive.
People are announcing on official forums their feedback about a role they loved and have since come to find totally unenjoyable due to changes over the years. I don't agree with x or y persons feedback over some things but the amount of people so butthurt over healers giving feedback is baffling. For years they gave feedback and the most we got was go do ultimate from Yoshi P, he has since acknowledged they overdid the changes for jobs overall so now is as good a time as any to say what you don't like and why.
Frankly players shouldn't need to announce a strike to get feedback that has been consistently appearing on this forum for years since SHB released to get some sort of attention.
For instance I disagree with many BLM players over mana tick changes, I say good riddance. Players who disagree with me should still announce what they dislike, why and that they will stop playing x role as a result if that is the case. If nobody bothered to announce why they take the action they do nothing changes cause devs have no clue what we want. Really poor take from you.
The trinity in casual content only being propped up by duty finder forcing a healers presence is a bad look, the hardest fight in game being cleared on content with no healer at all is a further kick in the teeth regardless how slim the margins were. Being frequently told to go solo heal x or y content if I want a challenge is terrible, because it shows how little healers are needed. Others are saying to go do pf content more and not be in groups that know what they are doing, essentially saying I and other healers shouldn't play with our statics if we want to be engaged. Just stop playing with your friends if you want some engaging combat! Honestly terrible suggestions from non healers and casual healers I've seen the past week.
One of the core foundations of the combat in this game, the trinity, is barely present anymore and that's terrible.
You might want to pop into the game, and then take a read through System > Support Desk > Contact Us:
Feedback and suggestions regarding FFXIV can be posted on the official FFXIV General Discussion forums. While it's technically true that no one "needs" to announce anything, the game itself literally gives permission to do so. There's no need to complain about people availing themselves of the opportunity.
I'm quite serious about not enjoying packing and carrying heavy boxes every which way just because someone tells me to do so, but if a friend asks for a bit of help moving into a new place, in the words of the great Gimli, "They have my effort."Quote:
If they were serious about not enjoying healing, they would not play healer for anyone or for any reason.
That's how friendships and other relationships work. You do a thing you don't enjoy because your friend understands you don't enjoy it, appreciates that you're going to do it anyway, and will endeavor to do the similarly for you in the future.
Yoshi did comment on Healer feedbacks before Endwalker release during a interview at the Media Tour 2021
"Yoshida: So I totally understand that those healers that have a very high player skill level and they’ve really mastered their jobs go into these different raids or battles and when they do have some downtime between their heals they do cast more offensive spells. Some of them desire to have more technical aspects of it so they are more active and I totally understand that sentiment. But of course the basis of a healer is to heal so I think the development team and I have this thinking of getting that sense of exhilaration from doing really good heal work.
That being said I don’t think we would do any sort of dramatic addition of offensive skills moving forward. By having these offensive abilities some players, like new healers, might feel pressured like “oh do I have to have good DPS while I’m healing?” or some players might be aggressive like “oh hey you have an offensive skill in your kit, why don’t you use it?” and I don’t think that’s optimal either.
But of course we do have the new job, Sage, which will allow for this unique gameplay where if you land an attack it heals at the same time. Or if there’s like a particular barrier ability that you cast and once that’s depleted it increases the resource which could lead to an attack which is very unique. I think players would be interested in trying that out for sure. "
