SE really has no clue what to do with Scholar do they.

Okay, so the media tour stuff is out and we are all scrutinizing our jobs.

Welp as I expected, but hoped otherwise, Dissipation for Scholar is still a thing, :mad:. I was hoping with the new Seraphism skill Dissipation would be gone, or changed in some way. But nope it's still there, still counterintuitive to the whole idea of having the pet.

Regardless of it's look, Seraphism is a better version of Dissipation's idea, as it fits the theme better. The description even reads that you must have the faerie out to use it. Why is SE so adamant on keeping a skill that is so counterintuitive to the jobs gameplay. Please for the love of God SE change the skill. Whether it allow Energy Drain to return MP again. Being used on Aetherflow skills. Or finally applying that oGCD shield we've been asking years for. Scholar still has the lowest number of attacks, can we maybe repurpose it into and attack/heal(shield) combo; like every other healer has.

I know I might sound salty, and I am, bit I've had to deal with that horrible skill for almost 10 years now, I am sick of it.

Also I do know how to effectively use the skill when needed, I just really hate it. There is always a catch, that no other healer has to suffer from. Please SE fix Dissipation!

dissipation is unironically the best skill scholar has and the last remaining bastion of interesting healer design I will defend it to my last breath. opportunity cost, reward for planning and smart use of fairy skills, and an emergency button all in one.

The fact it’s a damage tool, a healing tool, an emergency tool but one that also punishes you if it’s your first choice to press in an emergency all rolled into one is fantastic skill design

I never said I liked the look of Seraphism, just that it makes more sense than Dissipation. Because you pay the fairy to get a buff to spreadlo and completely refill your gauge

No other healer can panic refill their gauge like SCH can with dissipation, it’s a tradeoff, that’s how healing works at its absolute core. The fairy is your tool, you send her away to get emergency healing, it’s a tactical decision, SCH isn’t a fairy mage

They did say in EW and it seems they still have no idea. The additions powerful or not don't fix any of the job problems and even go against the job lore and theme (seraphism). Not surprised in the slightest at this point

Also i think the tanks and dps need more healing moves having 500/1000/regen potency heals every minute or 2 seems a little too weak to me.

I never said Seraphism was good design. How can I, it's new, and no one, besides a lucky few, have even had the chance to use it yet. I just said it fits better with the design of the job.

Also, besides Sage, no other healer has a Guage like SCH. And Sages fills up automatically. And the "trade off" doesn't makes sense. Why do you need to lose 1/3 of your skills to get stacks to use another 1/3, while only boosting 3 spells? Regardless of anything, if the other healers don't have this caveat, the skill is designed poorly.

We don't even have the option to end it early. Other skills of this nature don't completely lock you out of other skills, you just lose access to the granted skill(s) if you use a different one. That's not the case here. And you shouldn't have to "use all the faerie skills" beforehand.

Plus there isn't a reward for using the skill. Three Aetherflow stacks and a 20% increase on spells the "meta" actively encourages people to not use, is hardly rewarding. The skill just needs something to feel better. Give us the option to end the mode early, like when ASTs use their bubble for brief seconds. Or maybe when the faerie returns have her perform a specific action, add a shield, do an attack, maybe both. Even the simple increase to Aetherflow heals would work. Something.

I know I'm not the only person who feels this way. But I seem to be the only one who expresses it on the official forums.

Why does it fit better with the design of the job, your entire springboard on this post is that Seraphism is good. Yet you’ve done nothing to explain why Seraphism is good. The skill basically amounts to a spreadlo amplifier with a lot of pretty effects

And all healers have a healing gauge, you cannot unilaterally gain more lily’s, you can’t draw these new cards at your own will. Dissipation is the only button that lets you get all your gauge back, they don’t need to buff the gauge effects, getting this many resources back itself is a massive buff itself. To say nothing of the GCD amplifier because SCH isn’t punished for spreadlo like the other healers, spreadlo is actively encouraged even during uptime

A skill is not bad because it’s the only class that has this design, if anything that’s a sign of skill diversity it’s not like SCH struggles at healing at all it just has to make choices, that is SCH’s design, if you want to vomit out healing with no downside SGE is right there

And regardless how is dissipation the problem you have with SCH’s cumulative kit, why is it the focus of your ire over the rest of the kit

I love dissipation and am happy they did not remove it :)

Dissipation is something everyone will have conflicting opinions on, I dont really like it either. But my dislike of Dissipation is secondary to my dislike of how clunky SCH feels because at this point its becoming the healer version of SHB SMN, we have a pet that can demi-summon with the built in delays while also now having a burst GCD heal phase and the whole aetherpoint energy drain vs heal choice. If healing actually did matter and healing rotations were actually a thing SCH would be as much of a mess to play as SMN was in SHB.
I truly believe that in 8.0 SCH will have a SMN style rework which completely removes the fairy as a pet and turns it into something we just have to have out to use abilities because the devs are making the same mistakes with SMNs design but with SCH in healing.

Eloah I'm gonna be real with you I don't think you actually know how to play Scholar in difficult content and I think you should stop posting on this topic. Work on improving your play and understanding of the class before you offer suggestions on job changes.

I think you need to reread the tooltip as serpahism neither forces a crit nor does it increase the shielding any more than any other 20% GCD amplifier (ie dissipation does) all it does is make spells instacast which isn’t exactly interesting

Not pankardia is completely irrelevant, the fact is no other healer can force generate a full set of gauge, that is what dissipations advantage is, if you had a skill that generated 3 lilys instantly I’d also want it to have a downside. Dissipation is incredibly powerful and its downsides reflect that, downsides you can mitigate by playing your cards in advance like how a tactician works, it’s not “counterintuitive” it’s a skill with a downside

You don’t have to have a justification for not liking the skill I’m simply discussing why I believe the reasons you are offering for why dissipation is a bad skill are poor, and again I’m still unsure why you are hinging your entire problems with SCH on dissipation, regardless of your opinions on it you can’t really think it’s the worst part of the class, hell it’s such a long CD you can realistically ignore the skill entirely if you want to

As for your final point I don’t believe any other healer needs to be given caveats in relation to dissipation specifically because no other healer has a skill that does what dissipation does, ergo it’s balanced with itself. In answer to the wider question I 100% support choice and interaction with all healing skills, SGE is boring as all sin because it lacks all of these

There are no mistakes being made with SCH design. Aetherflow Energy Drain heal choice (as you describe) is a core fundamental element of the class that involves thought and is incredibly enjoyable to play with. Scholar is extremely responsive now, any issue you have with it feeling clunky is likely a skill issue. If you want it reworked just play Sage and stop whining about a class you don't play.

Regen healers got barriers and more mitigation this time around, so while I don't particularly think SCH need more pure healing, I'm thinking maybe damage profile is finally high? After all tanks got more mitigation and DPS got more mitigation. Surely that's the case?
Or maybe that's just wishful thinking again like the past couple of expansions ... u.u I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard.

I still don't understand why Chain Strategem is a single target debuff, but locks the AoE DoT behind the single target skill... and the cooldown is unchanged as well. Animation wise, the name Baneful impaction doesn't live up to its expectation, but potencies are subject to change so I think it'll be fine on that front (I think it's 700 potency aoe oGCD, so it's not weak by any means). Although that's the only DPS skill they got and in a 120s cd so they really lost out I think? I guess I just miss old Bane more than liking new Bane. Deployment Tactics spreading a DoT feels far better than this and I feel should have been the path they took when they gave Seraphism to buff and apply instant cast shields.

Seraphism resetting the cooldown of Emergency tactics is going to be huge in progression. Strong recovery capability. Quite possibly one of the strongest gamechangers in managing MP. I think it'll be fun to play as long as damage profile is varied enough.

I played prior to SHB and ive played it some in EW (did criterion and extreme no savages) it feels clunky with useless skills like Fey Blessing and Summon Seraph and the entire fairy gauge.
I can play SCH at a savage competent level its not hard (like all healers) its just not satisfying.

That is incredibly rude to generalize my knowledge of the job, just because I dislike one specific skill. A skill that I said I know how to use, by the way. Should I call into question your abilities if you dislike something.

I never said it forces a crit, I said Catalyze is guaranteed. The shielding is on par because the 20% increase is now baked into the spell potency. Even if Dissipation made the spells instant cast that would be something.

Catalyse is the shield you get for critting your adlo, you don’t get catalyse from seraphism, it simply changes your skills to new ones (adlo being manifestation) which will give you galvanise upon hitting (like current adlo does)

Your reasoning is poor to me because I disagree with it and that’s why I’m discussing it with you, you may think my reasoning is poor that’s what’s a discussion is, I’m trying to convince you your reasoning is poor. And I ask why you hinge your problems on dissipation because your title and initial post indicate that you have problems with SCH as a collective but then you laser focus on dissipation, why was your title not “why didn’t they delete dissipation”

What is there really to say. It’s a glorified 20% GCD amplifier hidden as actually changing the skills even though they are just 20% stronger. Making them instacast encroaches on SGE’s strengths so i dont think it’s a good thing. Shielding on the move is SGE’s strength and it should stay like that. As for the limitless ET; I have no words for how dumb that decision is. Why do we even have regen healers when a shield healer can put out a pure heal stronger than cure 3, it’s just pointless. The extra regen is just the extra “frosage” on the top of how badly this skill is designed

So what are your reasons for why you cannot overlook it. It can functionally be ignored if you don’t want to use it and for people who use it as a prog skill it’s easily the strongest prog skill of any of the 4 healers. I just don’t see why this single skill is so problematic

The solution isn't to remove it, but rework it to be more meaningful imo. Play into the risk with a better reward, that's what all the healers are missing atm....:I

No, the tool tip for Manifestation says it gives both Galvanize and Catalyze, at base. It doesn't matter if the spell crits or not, you always get both shields. That's my point.

And as for why I can't overlook it. The time frame is a factor, but I dislike how it sidelines the faerie. I like pet jobs, so I want more interaction, not less. I have a similar grip currently with SMN, and how Carby just stands there now. Some things are just hard to move past. Look at the people who want Kaiten back, even though the benefits were baked into the job in other ways.

Yeah im similar if I were to put abilities on scholar that I hate summon seraph and fey blessing would be higher than dissipation. I mainly like scholar because pet focused healers are rare in MMOs and dissipation taking that aspect away is why I don't paticular like it though its purely personal preference on my end after all the fairy has lost a lot of its management anyway.

Y'know what? Screw it:

1. Make the new DoT an AF spender with 400 total potency at 45s cooldown.
2. Turn up Energy Drain's potency to 200 & restore 6% MP per use.

Not gonna change how I use Dissipation. But I'll feel better by using it properly now ;')

And I can't say it's a lore thing, but I would prefer more pet interaction. True, Seraphism looks odd, but at least the faerie is still there to interact with.

I'm not sure if it's hidden, as the tooltips specifically mention the effects do not stack with Dissipation (so no 20% GCD boost). I guess it's just less math to really cement the feeling of a new VFX. I'm okay with SCH having instant cast GCD shields since it's locked behind a 180s recast, so it's not as if it has instant cast shields all the time. It's also distinctly different from SGE in the sense that E. Tactics can now be spammed, so it's a raw healing utility and recovery mode at the sacrifice of your entire MP pool (so SCH gains full leverage to their MP resource, a huge win to resource management).

Frankly, I'm more worried about SGE's cohesiveness in general. Pepsis doesn't get adjusted. GCD healing on sage is always rougher because they had a kardia system, but kardia was so underutilized and underpowered in burst situations. Heck, SGE's GCD shielding was always inferior to SCH and relied on oGCD abilities to be competitive to SCH. I rather they just played more into SGE's Kardia system earlier on and make it the highlight of its gameplay for both dps and healing rather than what it currently is because it feels like they're still on the fence on playing into SGE's kardia system at lower levels, causing the entire healing toolkit to be more non-synergetic as a whole. Probably to an even bigger degree - old skills like Pepsis doesn't mesh well with Philosophia as Pepsis is an ability that heals a flat amount potency and Philosophia affects spells, so unlike E. tactics that convert shields, you lose healing for using Pepsis. SGE's Zoe is still 90s, in contrast to SCH's Recitation being now 60s. Skills like Zoe and Pepsis on the other hand cannot take full advantage of Kardia, unlike Scholar's Emergency Tactics and Deployment Tactics. Just a lot of small things non-synergetic things that add up over time.

I'm honestly unsure if that's a win on resource management when Dissipation can already be used that way as of today, being a 3m cooldown and a direct 20% GCD heal amplifier itself. I personally don't feel like that adds anything to SCH other than "Whispering Dawn on 3m" primarily and "Neutral Sect" as a bonus.

Seraph’s problem is she doesn’t need to exist

Replace seraph with rouse that just changes blessing to 2 charges of consolation and you have achieved the same thing without seraphs wonky summoning and desummoing and having the extra versions of whispering dawn and fey illumination

Blessing there is nothing wrong with blessing but especially with the reduction in CD to recitation it just really doesn’t need to exist anymore

In my opinion, Whispering Dawn is enough. Just give it a second charge, lower its cooldown to 30 seconds then add a direct heal to it before applying the regen and we no longer have a need for Fey Blessing. Make Rouse a toggle action that greatly boosts the pet's healing output at the cost of 4% MP per tick, rids the need for Summon Seraph and Fey Union. Remove the regen from Sacred Soil and move the magic damage received from Fey Illumination to it then all of a sudden, Fey Illumination is open for a trait.
