Why is Canada left out of every god damn promo?

It's legit BS that we're left out of everything. Why? We spend just as much do we not?
Like, I don't care about missing out once in a while. But every time? WTF is this crap?

+1 for this thread, it would be nice if they could find a way to do stuff like this that isn't region exclusive.

But also, I'm with Mao in that I have zero interest in Mountain Dew. At least with that GrubHub promo they did, you could theoretically order what you want. If they didn't "run out of codes" or something.

You don't have to necessarily drink It, you can always just give it to someone who wants/likes some Mountain Dew, (after getting the codes).

are the codes region locked? If someone in the US buys a bunch of Mountain Dew can they send the code to a friend?

Worst part is, if they did do an OCE promotion, there's every chance it would be Australia only and totally ignore New Zealand.

The sub price is really annoying. Why can’t they have a Canadian price instead of converting and paying extra fees like for so many other things? The Uk has a price that is not converted to Euro and is currently the cheapest option at £7.69/month ($11.38 CAD vs almost $20 with taxes…I wish I could pay in pounds)

They say they haven't forgotten about Europe but it comes off like someone who gifted others but forgot your present on your birthday, anniversary and Christmas saying they'll find you a gift at some point (which of course will be something they got someone else 3 years ago instead of a unique item). A bit disingenuous, you know?

There's probably some level of international law that makes a promo based on carbonated sugar water more difficult in countries that don't place 99% of the burden of paying for health care on their citizens.

On a different note, even if this were offered in Europe, i know at least some EU countries you can't actually get Mtn dew. (Or at least I have not seen even a single bottle or can in Germany for years.)

It's basically Canada's anti-gambling laws. They're supposed to regulate 'competitions' by mandating a test of skill, but have the unfortunate side-effect of stopping promotions like these.

As for the EU, my guess is the complicated gambling laws differing between countries.

Their American branch only care about the west coast.

Believe it or not, the rest of the world has promotions too. It's not a thing that's specific to the USA.

(Also, it's 2024, are people still drinking sugar in the current year? Most of the new fizzy juice flavours are sugar free here.)

Understandable.

Regarding Mtn Dew, I could swear I had it in the last 3 years (my apprenticeship) and simply didn't buy more because it was just too sweet and too little fruity flavour for my taste. That's Bavaria at least (south-east germany).

I know it's silly, but I felt extra shafted when he said that they were working toward promoting something in the EU. My first thought was, "Oh... Well... That makes sense. Good for EU..." >cries in Canadian<

But I'm not gonna lie. I'd be less upset if I could collect the mounts and emotes at extra cost on the Mogstation... Maybe that's just me.

Give everyone a chance at the mount. I am sure they could figure it out if they really wanted to. Maybe have to go into some grey areas but I would assume its possible somehow. It is a really pretty color. I dont think we have anything else like that color but I am glad its not just a bright green to suit the soda its collabing with.

What gambling? The points you get from the drinks are set, aren't they? It's not random. Same with previous promotions FFXIV has had, there was no gambling or element of chance. You just buy the thing, and get an item code.

it's Canadian laws, all giveaways, regardless of gambling actually being a part of it, are under the Anti-Gambling laws (they need to change the name, because 90% of them have nothing to do with gambling). If they were to hold it here, every time you enter a code, you'd have to take a skill testing question (though usually they are simple like 5+5-2) and Quebec would still be left out because they don't allow ANYTHING there.

Fun fact - Canada has a actual different Mountain Dew then the US due to certain laws regarding beverages (for example in Canada we do use high fructose Corn-syrup as a sweetner in Dew but we label it differently). Canada Mountain Dew promotions are handled by a different company (See DEWmocracy campagin)
However I doubt the code is region locked and will give a answer soon.

It depends on where your account is connected. So whether it is a US/EU or JP account. I couldn't redeem an emote that was exclusive in Japan with my EU account because SE now has a region lock on it.
