Please make Old Feast Rewards exchangeable for wolf collars

As the title says, please make Old Feast Rewards exchangeable for wolf collars.

There is a large number of mounts and glamour from the 20 seasons of the feast that are basically very very rarely seen now days and could be reused to incetivise participation in ranked Crystal conflict.

Now I fully understand and agree that these rewards should remain prestigious which is why I am suggesting that a high number of wolf collars should be used as a method for obtaining them.

If you required 99 wolf collars for example, that is 99,000 trophys, which is alot of matchs and time put into PVP.

Some math for context:
Outside of farming the final level of the Series Malmstones you can get 28,000 per patch and from each season of crystal conflict you can get between 1000 - 6000 (outside of placing top 100)
This would be enough to give those players who have put alot of time into pvp over the course of an expansion the option to get a major reward in the form of one of these old feast prizes with those most dedicated pvp players the abbility to earn multiple from top 100 placements.

The benefit to this overall is that players who participate in pvp can feel like they can always work towards some reward even if the armor added to the trophy vendor or lack thereof is not to their likeing, it will also resolve the issue of buying something just not to waste trophys for the same reason.

One final sugestion, if implementing the same exact same armor/mounts under this system is an issue then a recolour could be done to differentiate these rewards from the orginals.

If they want to retain more prestige, the could also add Commendation Crystal(s) to the gear cost. Though I would love to see actual new set that you can buy or at least upgrade through them.

Every Year there is some people that just cant accept that Yoshi P said no.

There is no "way of retaining the prestige" when it becomes a simple Grind.

The latest PvP Season reward is perfect proof of what i said all along: It looks amazing but BARELY anyone uses it. Why? Cause everybody gets it thrown into their face until they say Stop.

People just want the old rewards because they are Rare. WELL they wont be rare anymore when you can simply grind them and thus: No one will use them anyway after a Week. The only thing you have left then is some wasted space in your Glam dresser and more Veterans that stop to play.

The actual Problem is that Squeenix does not put enough new rewards out there. Im sitting on so many Wolf collars i could fill a lake with them.

People use common items all the time. It's just based on aesthetics. Look at any savage raider who has some of the rarest gear but they still wear the hempen top and 2B pants combo. No one uses the latest PvP Season reward because you can't dye the red (yet).

The "prestige" argument would hold more water if win trading, hacks, RMT, botting, & exploit use wasn't so rampant, that the system had to reworked multiple times to it's current incarnation. As far as i'm concerned, it's more a status of infamy than "prestige".

Unlock the past rewards & call them Mirage, False, Illusionary, ect... whatever prefix or sufix that denotes they are reissues. Scale them up graphically & texturally, then change the color of specific accents to give them enough of visual difference to denote they are indeed different from the previous base armors. Hell, change up what dyes channels are on each piece. As we all know, 7.0 is adding two per item. Keeping the original untouched by the change would make them even more unique.

It is because you had to actually win this stuff, it is not like the seasons such as Easter, Xmas and more based stuff, but stuff you actually have to put an effort into and what more to it is that it is not some kind of script that savage raids or extreme trials is, it is the only actual skill based content in the game that pvp is.

I can understand your point.
I can also understand why people would want the prestige of having it themselves. There are very few things in FF14 that is FOMO. The reason why PvP rewards have been fomo for a long time is because nobody plays PVP really well not until this expansion when they """""fixed it"""""

So it be kinda lame if you stuck with game mode nobody liked - earned it when it was current - just for it to be a reward later on that be easy to obtain with wolf marks.

Now I'd be fine with it personally if you could earn them with some form of PVP currency but not Wolf Marks.


Make it a currency price so ridiculous it is like earning a Gold Saucer mount. So you at least have to grind the shit out of PVP to earn it.

This to me is a good compromise.

I'm aware that my presence and post will make some turn their heads and say "oh god not this guy again", but I feel like im qualified enough to give an educated take and a compromise on this one, given I have played and won rewards in both eras of PvP.

So let me start off saying this - the main reason you see those rewards rarely used is because they are, no pun intended, rare by virtue of how many were given out manually by GMs, per datacenter. The rarity is a part of the prestige and their desire for them (not everyone).

The thing is, Wolf Collars are not a suitable exchange currency. Their intended purpose was obtaining Hellhound Weapons, which we now have access to by that very same system. The difference here is that Wolf Collars were not exclusive to Top 100 - their access also came with skill tier rewards (from Diamond to Bronze). So even in the old system, they were simply not comparable to the Top 100 items in prestige.

In short, neither in old nor modern days would Wolf Collars be a suitable currency, not even at a ludicrious cost such as 99-100 wolf collars per reward (full sets as a coffer). The issue isn't how long you have to grind for them, I don't mind if the grind is minimal. The issue I have primarily is that Wolf Collars are fully accessible without ever stepping into Ranked once, making a 1:1 copy of Top 100 rewards for Wolf Collars only a breach of trust.

However, I am more than willing to see "[item name] Replica" hit the shops or upgrading the original items to a different item quality (purple, hrrhrr). Would not mind if it was the same colours and even keeping it dyeable.

I like this one, Commendation Crystals could really use some better shine than just Augmentation of Hellhound Weapons. Recently ranted about that with other PvPers. My only gripe with them is that they aren't the Wolf Collar of old days (i.e. the Diamond+ lock is stupid, lower skill tiers need a reason to be played, too).

I agree with this, but I'd add onto reworking the reward system in more detail. Namely properly tying grindable currency for rewards, but making the reward payout per game instead of waiting for the entire season to end for it. The weapon selection as rewards is somewhat lackluster in my opinion and we're on season 11. Ranked could use more rewards by now and designed so everyone wants to do it instead of just those at Diamond/Crystal.

Example: Rework Commendation crystals so the reward for items is to farm a certain number of crystals to last throughout the season. From gold rank onwards, each win gives 1 commendation crystal. From Platinum rank onwards, each win gives 2 commendation crystals and each loss gives 1 commendation crystal. From Diamond rank onwards, each win gives 4 commendation crystal and each loss gives 2 commendation crystals. From Crystal rank onwards, each win gives 5 commendation crystals and each loss gives 3 commendation crystals. Top 100 can receive their own reward to continue incentivizing players to play at Crystal onwards. There's no need to reward commendation crystals at the end of the season.

The better you are at the PvP, the faster you can farm the currency to get the rewards, but you also face more challenging matches (so it encourages everyone to play better and work together, which eventually sorts people around their skill level instead of getting super skewed matches). That way, it feels like you're properly getting something out of your time the more heavily invested you are in PvP even if you aren't the best player out there. The built-in failsafe is Gold rank and below are unable to derank (so you lose nothing), but each loss at Gold doesn't give a Commendation Crystal, thus treating matches from Unranked to Silver to become all practice matches to get better at the game mode for everyone. From platinum onwards, losing too many games at higher ranks will cause you to demote back to Gold. It would be many times more time efficient to climb and rank up in matches than throw games to farm for rewards, but it would equally require more effort for those matches to make things fair. This also works against skilled players dropping down in rank to specifically farm bad players for easier tomes because they get less out of it. Of course, if matches seem to be intentionally thrown consistently based on the scoreboard at the end of the match, it's easy enough to just report and take away all the commendation crystals the player has earned to discourage this behavior.

However, the rewards need to be actually worthwhile and take a while to farm. The current reward system in ranked is pretty dull and has barely any incentive to continue playing PvP. Plus, grinds should last a long while to keep queues consistently popping in a season. For example 100 commendation crystals for a weapon glamour. Sustainable rewards could be 200 to 300 commendation crystals for a single piece of endgame gearing (which then has to be reupdated by the next patch cycle in terms of ilvls so the rewards stay relevant). This could be a completely different gearset from PvE to separate the two, or it could be the same augmented tomestone gear. The fact of the matter is that it isn't realistic to fully gear up for week 1 raids if you intend on grinding for PvP, but PvP itself isn't a waste of time if you want to do both endgame raids and climb in ranked. If they are really worried about PvE gearing balance being out-of-hand, they can limit the weekly number of exchanges for endgame gearing to 1 or 2 pieces a week, and make the first week of high-end content non-exchangeable for people who have a lot of leftover commendation crystals (so week 1 clears isn't influenced by PvP).

That way, players of many ranks can work on playing matches at their rank without feeling the desperate need to climb to Diamond/Crystal to get the commendation crystals like they are currently.

Or it could just be that people aren't using it because it isn't what they personally want to be wearing today, in a game that offers hundreds of options? And yet people who do want that particular item as part of an outfit can access it if they want to, to a degree.

Even then, the grind required is certainly not so generous as to "throw the rewards in everyone's faces" – there is still a lot of time investment required. It's not a freebie. I'll only be getting it on one of my multiple characters, even though I would like it on others as well.

They are rare because they are unobtainable. Being rare doesn't mean you have to be able to get it still.

If they do anything with them I think they should release recolors so the originals still keep their prestige.

...and "FOMO" of what essentially has been created as a Trophy for high performing players per season where the design goal of said item literally is the rarity and prestige. ("but wintraders/cheaters" is not enough of a counterpoint, there is a statistical majority of people who have not cheated winning these)

You can hate the latter as much as you want, but the purpose is fundamentally different, which is why they have refused to rerelease up to this point - because for JP players prestige of their trophies matters.

Any Fomo that locks new players out of content is bad. If you'd have to build a time machine to get it, then it's bad fomo, regardless of how much you want something that isn't physically to have value you to, it doesn't mean it has it or deserves it.

I don't care about prestige in a video game made up of fake items and data. It's an ignorant side to take. Plus, it makes older games more prestigious because they keep their intrinsic value without Fomo. Go beat Sekiro and tell me it's on par with having a fancy coat in this game. Even though that's apples and oranges, it's clear that one respects the player more.

Imagine if you can, that I can chase that reward later and how much gameplay that would add. That is what you lose when you have fomo. It's absolutely moronic on a fundamental level.

This topic keeps coming up, especially from die hard completionists who need to have every single mount and achievement or they gonna sue SE.

I always compare it to a sport event, if you win at the olympics the gold medal in 1972, you cant come back later in 2024 and demand everyone should have a go at it. It is ridiculous. It is not PvE, it is PvP, there are losers and there are winners. 100 people won the rest lost, we are not in communism here.
If players knew they would get the rewards without doing anything too hard, I doubt the participation would be high. They will kill this ranked mode, as people will expect rewards to become available in the future too.

Also CC is a meme/fun mode now, it is not the same. It is like competing in olympics vs paralympics, it is a different category.

There is nothing to buy. Which is the real issue. People wouldn't ask for this, if there would a longterm wolfmark/wolfcollar investment PvP game dynamic, similar to PvE relic.

I love people who don't want others to get stuff that was limited to 100 per data center, and rife with wintraders and people intentionally sabatoging so others couldn't get wins.

Yes and we hoped GMs would deal with them, but mostly they didn't. Now lets punish the players for it?
There have been numerous suggestions on how to fix it, different reward systems, a top100 and a participation version, making pools of items for seasons that can be exchanged with a voucher, so it does make more sense when the game system changes dramatically. Dealing with alt players in a separate leaderboard, so they wont show up in top100. Having top100 by role (when we had them healer/tank/melee/range), increasing the rewarded people by 300%. More datacenters were made too, doubled top100 slots as well.

But well, they rather closed that chapter off. And introduced "series". Now rewards are a time grind, and ranked player have nothing to really play for, which made a lot of vets quit out of boredom of competition, while the game mode got more RNG with 5 players instead of 4. More likely you get 1 player who doesnt know what to do.

I don't know what else rewards they should give, maybe a PvP mount that is 20% faster than the series PvP version, or a special icon name plate, similar to mentor icon, instead of a "PvP white flag" they would show your obtained rank/tier. Give PvP players something to show off, because they did good.

And given that most of the stuff was reskinned at least 2 sometimes 4 times in different seasons. Uggh... It is really not that much "uniqueness" they got after 22 seasons.
I think it is nice for a game to have rare items, but I know this game likes to make almost everything easy to get.

So lets start with legacy tattoos, titles and mounts, the soundtrack minions from 2.x and a way for PvP players to get ultimate weapons with wolfcollars, then we can talk about it.

Sure, I don't care. Except the legacy tattoo. You can't have that.


But the rest? Sure. Who cares.

I'd be down for that, but I also hold no value in digital things. You can have my unobtainable title for free as a login reward. But things like pvp rewards, at least to me, should always be earnable forever. But I want the game to be better, and I think a tattoo you can hardly ever see has no value to me as a player. Plus, people can mod the tattoo. Hell, they can mod your coat as well. It's not like any of these digital items are sacred. I can mod ultimate weapons, and with Mare, all my friends can see it. Commander coat, you got it. But it feels better when you can earn it.

Though just as the legacy tattoo was limited. They have their low sub fee, they can keep it special that way, also don't need to appear in the credits.

Wow is really bad for it as well. I remember I had an idea of letting players reward track these mounts and go for basically double gladiator to get them, and people threw an absolute fit.

I really don't get why this keeps coming up, It's not gonna happen so what if there was win traders that doesn't devalue the other people who legitimately grinded top 100. If anything you should ask for ranked to be given more appealing rewards besides plates with a different number

Disclaimer, this comparison gets made every few months. Sometimes they compare it to Savage, sometimes to Ultimate, fundamentally the argument will be the same. I'll highlight the differences below. Simply put...

• Raids - You are fighting together with other players against a scripted AI. The actual challenge will not change if you do it now or later, baring a few potency changes. You are also not competing against each other for anything aside of the World First race semi-officially held every raid tier and ultimate. You are in a challenge and get a reward.

• Ranked PvP - You are fighting with other players against other players. The challenge is completely in flux with how good the players you play against are and can vary from season to season. You are quite literally competing against each other in the most direct sense of Player VS Player, meaning that there WILL be winners and there WILL be losers, which is necessary to determine who is the better player worthy of the trophy. You are in a competition and get a trophy.

Now, I personally have given plenty of compromises we could have to give weaker players a chance at some of the designs available (including in this very thread), but the point is that PvP and Raiding could fundamentally not be any more different to how they grant high value items. Love it or hate it, but this is high level PVE vs PVP in a nutshell.

TL;DR: Challenge + Reward in raids vs Competition + Trophy in pvp.

Or who is in the pvp wintraders discords and getting boosted.

That's entirely a moderation issue. We had to deal with this stuff early on in Crystalline Conflict too, where it took tons of evidence from multiple people over several weeks before they gave a slap to wrist suspension and rank removing to extremely obvious case.

It's really weird contrast since GMs generally handle most cases in decent time frame and help people, but then there's some outliers like PvP where it seems they don't care at all.

I'm not sure how it is on other DCs, but at least on Light the competition is fair. I guess it's because the amount of players is so low that the regular rankers mostly know each other and there aren't that many new faces joining in at the highest ranks.

The thing with a "trophy" though is that it's generally less exciting than what it represents (the fact that you won the competition), and generally more or less the same design is given from one competition to the next. The prestige comes from having a trophy that says "Winner 2023" and another identical one that says "Winner 2024", not that each one is unique and special in its design.

I think the frustration is that XIV's "unique prize every time" approach means that there was – perhaps still is, given the lack of second chances on recent gear – basically a constant conveyor belt of cool designs being invented (or existing cool things converted into mounts) and then immediately being rendered off-limits for anyone to be able to receive them ever again.

Having a top 100 leaderboard that they couldn't even monitor with extremely limited rewards was always a really dumb idea. The fact that they kept shelling-out a unique gear set or mount every season really was only because they had to bribe people to care enough to tolerate their arena-style PvP mode. It usually catered to the mostly same group of people who could no-life requeue over and over at the start of the new season (which always coincided with a new large PvE patch dropping), where the queues died-off less than halfway into the new patch/season, making it impossible to climb, let alone get a match outside of maybe a specific timeframe. If their producer didn't actively play PvP from time to time they probably wouldn't have repeatedly stuck rewards in it to keep it on life-support.

Having said that, I'm also of the opinion that those rewards shouldn't be anywhere near Wolf collars, Trophy crystals and Wolf marks; all 3 have been delegated to participation trophy rewards that even a bot auto-running into the middle of the map and dying over and over in Frontlines can "farm." It's nearly the equivalent of asking for current-tier Savage chest (not upgraded tomestone) gear to be buyable with tomestones. Maybe you can make an argument for any top 100 season to be trade-in to buy previous rewards, or even possibly a large quantity of Commendation Crystals (that requires you to actually win and climb to a higher rank to obtain). I know it sucks that many of the Feast ranking rewards feel essentially wasted on a small fraction of some characters that don't ever use them or even play XIV anymore, but they also have no business being bought with PVP's participation tomes that any "0 8 0" (that's K D A) player in Frontlines who never step foot in even CC can eventually get by getting last place every game. A "high number of wolf collars" doesn't mean much when there's hardly anything to buy with them and the PvP Series showers you with Trophy crystals; right now I'm capped on Trophy crystals, unable to receive the rank 30 reward (5,000 crystals) with double-digit stacks of the 1,000 crystal reward beyond rank 30 because there is nothing left worth spending marks, collars and crystals on- and I only play several FL games a day, like twice a week.

So no, as much as I disliked the system of ranked rewards for their life-support "e-sport"(lol) arena PvP mode, they do not need to bring the old rewards back so every mindless fodder in Frontlines can have it eventually because you practically get as much rewards being in last place that you do for being in first place.

They said it will come back and there is no more FOMO with series rewards, that we have now. But we haven't seen that yet. But going all the way back to Feast 3.x for rewards is a bit of a stretch imo.

I would disagree with the "getting matches" part and having to no life queueing. It wasn't so bad as reddit myths made it. If you got Gold tier in the first months, you probably could have played till the end of season easily.
The rewards were not that unique every season.

Season 1 and 2 got 4 same skins
Season 3 and 4 got 4 same mounts
Season 5 and 6 got 2 same skins
Season 7, 8 and 16 got 3 same mounts
Season 9 and 10 got 2 same reskins
Season 11, 12 and 17 got 3 same mounts
Season 13 and Team Season got same 2 skins
Season 14 and 15 same 2 mounts
Season 18 and 19 same 2 skins - the only skin people really care about nowadays.
Season 20 final mount

So lets count, 5 glam sets and 5 mounts in like 6 or 7 years?!
So less than 1 glam set and 1 mount per year.
Seems kinda underwhelming to me, Island sanctuary seems to have more already.

But yeah there is still a lack of currency drain for the new crystals and wolf collars, either they need to increase the cap or make items more expensive or add more items.

If only i was graduated college and got a job during first feast season, so I could've achieve those rewards

You really can't go in any thread about this without slipping in stuff like "weaker players", can you? You insist on pretending you're having civil discussions with people while also talking down to and about everyone who isn't you. You could just say "people who didn't rank as high or have less interest in ranked PvP". That matters.

...and you can't go in one thread without having an issue with how I may have spoken in a previous post. Weaker, lower rank, less interested, what's the difference here other than you feeling like I am here trying to actively hurt people?

I am here to offer solutions and nothing else. If people have to take everything I say to literal value, that's not my problem.
