Shouldn't SMN have a 1.5s GCD cast during Titan instead of being instant?

I makes more sense for me. Garuda is the fast and weak one, Ifrit is the slow and strong one, Titan should be the middle ground in both mobility and damage. You still would be able to use Mountain Buster (athought you woulnd't be able to double weave a Radiant Aegis) and it would be an opportunity to slidecast more, which is something that this job lacks (complexity in mobility). It would make it more interesting in my opinion.

Titan is the middle ground. The casts are instant, but it's still a 2.5 GCD. Garuda's is fast because the GCD is reduced to 1.5. Otherwise, Titan and Garuda would play the same.

Less instant casts on summoner would actually make it more fun Imo.
I think Summoner has way too much mobility for casters and it creates a situation where it's always pretty much the best choice while being easiest to pickup and play. (blm can be better? but usually summoner fits way better into teams and they don't have to play around you).

I personally would have preferred bahamut casts, as to make it feel different from phoenix, but Ideally I'd just like more casting in general on summoner as that's what I enjoy most about Magic Dps.

I am fine with SMN's instacasts. In fact, I prefer not being a glass turret. But I want my dots back.

Isn't that the point of physical ranged though? Summoners meant to be balanced around other magic jobs.
If summoner wants instant casts 95% of the time then it should do less DPS then it does currently.

I think if the actual gemstone summons had a 1.5 cast time, would alleviate that. They'd have to compensate on the 'favor' actions timing a little bit to avoid mis-alignment with the 2min marks.

Traditionally also there's a feel of 'long cast time' for calling summons in the FF series (with the green orb casting animation), so it would make some sense with that as well.

I actually like the mobility, and would like a caster that is also mobile. To be honest Red Mage and Black Mage are not that immobile either, assuming you have planned for it (which does take a higher level of skill certainly, but like a black mage that wants to move and cast can totally do so). Red Mage has been, imo, taxed for their potential support- which can be a different argument for sure but shouldn't impact SMN. Although if I remember recent numbers right, the difference between SMN and RDM isn't that great and RDM still has better support options, such that I would say it is 'fine' that SMN is easier to play.

If the only change to SMN was to make it less mobile (and not increase something as a consequence, like make their physick not suck or something), which would be an overall nerf, I'd be a little annoyed at that change. (And would honestly just be another thing where players made jobs more similar to each other in each category lol).

You can't just add casting to summoner as it currently is. The job is rigid; for example, you have to use bahamut at a specific time (when it's available). What happens when bahamut lines up with a movement-heavy mechanic and each bahamut gcd is a 1.5s cast?

Let's say you're in p12s doing superchain theory 1. You have to get through several gcds of bahamut while running between the shapes. You don't have time to fit casts in there, and losing demi gcds is a significant dps loss for summoner.

I do think summoner should have more casting, but this has to come with other improvements that allow the job to get mobility when it needs it like the other casters have. Swiftcast would help if raise is removed, but I don't think it would be enough. And we'd lose the ability to snapshot strong spells into the end of buff windows.

Don't remove QoL, the instant casts feel good. I'm not going back to longer cast times because someone complained about it feeling too good to be able to move and cast on Summoner.

Obviously this doesn't address my point at all since it's responding to my specific example without considering the overall point. You may not always be able to slidecast, depending on the mechanic's design. The point is that other casting jobs have ways to gain mobility when they need it and summoner does not.

But if we want to talk about healers... white mage has lilies, sage has phlegma and toxikons. I don't play the other healers and so I won't speak for them. However, I did look up clear PoVs of p12s with both AST and SCH, and saw neither of them actually slidecast there.
Feel free to show an example if you have one.

Don't worry, Summoner is getting landslide for Titan in DT.
