The Fate of Primal Battles

Hi everyone! Been rummaging around through the Yoshida interviews lately and all the sweet new info being tossed about for the upcoming 2.0 release.

One thing, however, that I've been wondering about/potentially overlooked is whether or not primal battles available now, and their respective loot tables, will still be untouched after Version 2.0 is released.

I saw the whole "kill a primal and raise it for 2 weeks" thing, but nothing more, and since forum dwellers typically know WAY more than I do about anything...ever >.<... I thought I'd see if you guys could discuss/help me sort out some of the details for primal battles in the future :).

Just making a "to do" list of things that won't be available once this massive rehash comes along.

Primal Battles presumably will not be available as they are now. That was one of the special things us 1.0 players get to do. Along with all the schweet loots. They're going to be open-world in 2.0.

Ok so basically any and all primal loot needs to be obtained ASAP because it won't be available once they become open world battles huh?

kind of hard for new people to get into them when groups now a days only take "pros"

couldnt get into moogle because the group wasnt willing to help me with the nm's
couldnt get into garuda because i didnt finish mini
got into ifrit but we wiped 3x and everyone just gave up

Nothing is confirmed yet. Yoshida will post a list of things that will be gone with 2.0 when 1.23 hits so wait for that.

The Primal Battles "should" remain, what they need to change is the introduction to them since the "Story mode" primal fights are tied in directly with the 7th umbral storyline.

Um, where did you get this idea? Ifrit and Moggle Mog were announced before the whole "7th umbral era" thing came to pass.

Only things wholly specific to the 7th umbral era like the garlean invasion outside ul'dah and dalamud getting closer with each patch won't be carrying over.

Actually, if you pay attention to the CS and other related dialog, all the current primal fights are a part of the 7th umbral era content. So, the instanced versions, we have now, might not be in 2.0.

I really want a Dev Confirmation on this, I don't want to lose a Primal Weapon coz I didn't know It'll be gone soon :o

It's really hard to find anyone who wants to go Mog or Garuda, Ifrit is more likely since there are people who want to change it to Materia or Seals.

This month when 1.23 comes out (hopefully soon), there will hopefully be a list of things not available anymore in 2.0. Though they want to make this list it MIGHT not actually be available.

Nice, I'll be looking forward to that list, even If it's not gonna be available I'm still gonna try getting all those Primal Weapons :p

I hope they keep the Primal fights =[ I really want to get a moogle weapon </3

There's no LS that wants someone with no level 50 group experience (as in the last 4 weeks I hit 50 for the first time) for primals.

Also I happen to be on when 80% of the players are Japanese. ;-; Looks like I'm not going to get the chance to even participate in an end-game primal fight.

i hope if the the primal fights stay make the rewards system like FFXI where you win you pick a reward then you can pick a different one the next win. they should also add other items like GC seals as a reward to pick that way people can keep doing it and there will be no cold periods LFP's.

right now on ifrit & moogle we win we hope we get something.

i have yet to see anyone looking for garuda hard and i want to kill ; ; but theres plenty of the others.

I"m sad the primal battles are going. Instanced boss fights are one of my favorite things to do in FFXIV. It's sad to see them go, only to get zerged by a whole server. That's fun too, but taking down a challenging boss with a group of 8 is much more epic. Especially when I don't have to fight through a whole dungeon first.

That would be nice, I really like stuffs like those.

I've been thinking SE could Upgrade the Overall Reward system abit (Not just Garuda):
-1 Totem for a Successful Run (Primal Battles)

-2 Totem for Speed Run (Primal Battles)

-Totems can be exchanged for Items such as: Primal Weapons, Seals, Materia, Gil, Hamlet coins for Points,etc

-Dungeon Totems exchanged for: Dungeon Gears, Seals, Materia, Gil, Hamlet Coins for points, etc

-Each Chest of Primal or Dungeon still have a Droprate for Item drops.

-Totems for dungeon: 1 for each chest at the end of dungeon for everyone participating. (5 Chest SR = 5 Totems)

-Longer Dungeon Timer or a Quota in exchange for Higher Droprates

-(Specific) Primal Battles: 3 times a day / 3 Hours timer. (Specific) Dungeon: 5 times a day / 3 Hours timer

I believe one of the reasons New Contents are being cleared really quick is because Players can spam on it however much they like, sure Droprate is lower, but they can do it lots of times and therefore, develop strategies quickly.

With Quota or Longer timer, players will have less time to practice on New contents, therefore New Contents will last longer than what we have now. Also, people will most likely be motivated by seeing Progress on their Raids / Primal Content.

Additionaly, people who are done with said Contents can come back again If they want Seals / Materia, Players doing content will also be more spread out since they cannot do certain contents during Timer / 0 Quota, so they will/can do something else.

This is just an example of how SE can improve contents (In my Opinion), whatever SE do to improve is up to them.

I dunno but if garuda is a part of the relic quest, how can it be gone in 2.0?

If Good King Mog XII isn't in 2.0 I'm leaving this game forever. I don't care if it's instanced or open world. But that fight better say. As should the music.

Seems odd that they'd take out one of the biggest features to the gameplay as it is now. 2.0 needs a lot of stuff to fill that gap if they remove it.

Yeah if they are required for relics (unless they change the quest) I think they most likely will stay. Also would they really spend all that time creating the fights just to remove them in 2.0 so people who played 1.0 with their weapons can be special snowflakes? I hope they keep them heh

I remember reading somewhere that they will be changing the cutscenes and relative quests to make sense with 2.0, but the fights themselves are staying. I could be wrong and I'm too tired to go looking for confirmation but I really do remember reading that.

So, if I'm correct, the only thing that we won't be seeing after 2.0 releases is the special cutscenes and quests and dialogue that we have now.

Yeah that makes the most sense. Battles will stay. The storyline will change because it wouldn't make sense not to.

How are the battles to stay if Primals are supposed to be open-world roaming bosses that you kill to get your Free Company to summon them :/?

The same way there are three different types of Ifrit battle already? You can have both, I don't understand your confusion here.

Read the new interview with yoshida. There is a thread about it and it has some more info about the primals

Okay I wanna say this because it's a misconception people keep having it was never said that final battles would be removed What was that is that we would get the roaming ones but they would not be removing both of them Will exist as it is untouched

I was just talking to my LS about this earlier today, about if the Relic quests were changed due to the Primals. I have a feeling that they will, because I know that my friends on my LS (and their friends on other LSs) don't have enough time to do all of the requirements for the Relic quests (aka, social life and life offline from the game). I really wish the quests would change, but hopefully they will if enough people complain or are finding the quests too demanding.

I was thinking that you'd have to get your job to Lv50 and get certain H/NM (Hyper Notorious Monster or just a plain NM) to be killed. See, there could be H/NMs out in the world that have an affinity of sorts (or items that are required to use in making of the weapons) to the Primals, and they have special drops that are required ingredients for making the said Relic weapons. If that could be implimented, you would have the required ingredients and the only way to meld them into the weapon would be to fight the Primals (kind of like the unfinished weapons and how they have to be melded by battling Ifrit and Garuda). There could be a certain combination of Primals you'd have to fight for each Relic weapon (if there is going to be more Jobs in 2.0 that need different weapons). Like you need Shiva and Garuda defeated in order to make X Relic Weapon, and such.
