If youa've used TOS breaking addons or directly cheated for the Fall Guys event, I hope you get banned. I hope everyone knows it. I hope you are shamed for the rest of your entire life.
People have been cheating, hacking, and manipulating the game for years in every single piece of content but this event was the breaking point?
Also when cheaters get banned, they make a new account and cheat on the new account. SE needs to take extreme measures before any meaningful change will happen.
My bad, guess that makes it alright.
The difference is that right now people are cheating openly and very brazenly right now.
Obviously it's always existed and no matter what you do it will exist to a small amount at the least, but people really just don't care anymore it seems. I could make an entire compilation of discord/forum/reddit/twitter users that are openly using it with a good amount of them having some information that identifies their characters mixed in.
I mean we did have Eli Blue a couple of weeks ago, but before that there wasn't anything too memorable? Like almost everyone that cheats in PvP tries to be stealthy about it.
When people like Bill Murray speed hacked in rival wings in perhaps the most obvious way possible people shamed it. People talked about it. He literally had to transfer servers and change his name multiple times in an attempt to get away from it even though I don't think SE ever did anything.
This is less about SE and more about the community. I don't want to start a witch hunt, because those get out of control, but when someone is openly committing the act in front of everyone possible, not even attempting to hide it, then the community should at least hold that person accountable within reason.
They can't get banned, but it doesn't matter. All Square Enix needs to do is mandate that their official launcher is used instead of XIVLauncher. Make sure that no third-party programs can authenticate the login. All of these plugins are only becoming wildly popular because of the launcher, including the Fall Guys one. Cheating would still exist but not be nearly as prevalent, and it would be non-intrusive to normal players. The quality of the game culture would improve overnight.
Of course, Square Enix won't do that either. Why would they? It's Square Enix. Who cares as long as the game prints money?
My Fellow FF players I have not be honest with you. I did guguegity Fall gus event, I goshmogited its parkouridiy with my afkguegus and I am sorry..
Seems like the King/Queen Bean title will be another mark of shame like PvP mounts or titles.. everyone will just assume you cheated even if you didn't..
I don't disagree, though cheating using mods has been a problem for years and I doubt that the development team are going to do anything to stop it since a large portion of the game's community make use of mods rather openly if you check what comes up on Twitter when you search for FFXIV there.
It's become pretty brazen and too big a problem to address without snuffing out a major source of revenue. I'm sure Yoshi-P is well aware that many people playing FFXIV do not actually want to play the game without heavily altering it at this point.
At most there might be an official statement pushed out that urges people not to do it, amounting to the verbal equivalent of a slap on the wrist.
Its mostly a mark of shame in PvP if you have more multiple seasons worth of rewards. Especially with the increasing amount of cheaters it becomes harder to believe that you came out on top multiple times against cheaters without cheating yourself. If you have one reward though, it's easier to believe you sincerely grinded hard and got really lucky.
No need for plugins when just queueing when a new instance spawns gives you a solo lobby
Can we at least acknowledge that there's a huge difference between using an addon to change how your glam looks or add in a timer for your garden, versus allowing you to cheat at raids or a PvP event?
I'm starting to wonder if this is one of the main reasons that MMOs are slowly dying in popularity.
Those who prefer to play by the rules are getting tired of playing games with cheaters and feeling pressured to cheat themselves because of the unfair advantages that cheating offers.
Cheaters getting tired of being harassed over cheating in "just a game" when they can go to a single player game and cheat as much as they want without comment.
Personally, I don't see the point of cheating because it's just an admission that you can't achieve things through your own efforts. I also rolleyes at those who use the "I just cheat through the boring parts" excuse. If it's boring, why are you even playing? Do things that aren't boring instead.
Most of all, I don't let the actions of cheaters bother me. Dumb people are going to do dumb things. No point in getting upset over it.
I only won 3 times since the event released
I know I'm a disgrace you didnt have to put a thread title like that
jesus man
I'm doing my best okay

I'm trying !
Lol @ the "cheaters bad !!!" part by the way, if literally everyone decide to cheat the system, then maybe the system is terrible in itself
also the "worst" these people are doing is to queue into solo lobbies
oh no the drama, people getting wins !!!
it's almost like the netcode and server tick are both ruining this event and any fun that comes with it
who would have thought ?
I didn't even know there were Mods outside of Parcers and those Glamer changers or whatever.
But then again I don't do PvP.
Or because what you've just proposed is a problem somewhere between nightmarishly difficult and outright impossible while completely failing to solve the problem you think it solves.
SE's failure continues to be its complete refusal to invest in proper moderation for a worldwide audience. This is another facet of a very old problem coming home to roost, just like the server capacity debacles during COVID were. The most cost-effective way to deal with cheating is to produce a culture of unpredictable fear by doing the brute-force work of monitoring the tools space, figuring out where activity is growing, and then bundling up groups of people pushing it too far and knocking them all off in one fell swoop.
It's a well-worn strategy for a reason - fighting at the zero tolerance level is ridiculously expensive, ridiculously intrusive, and largely unnecessary particularly in the MMO space. Do it anything less than perfectly, and, well... remember when there was ransomware vectored through Genshin's kernel anti-cheat? (Which did very little in terms of productively stopping cheating in the first place?)
E: Also, the final stage could be pretty much autorun to victory from day zero. Very, very predictable once you understand the delays. Some of this definitely strikes me as reminiscent of the CC cheating screamfests - one twitter video of someone cheating was all every permabronze player needed to justify every match loss they ever experienced.
The very nature of this event and the fact that you HAVE to win 100 times (place 1st) to get the King Bean/Queen Bean title; and just the idea this might actually go away for a long while before coming back means people are going to feel the need to cheat.
This is how they wanted to design this event, so there shouldn't be any surprise that people would want to try and game the system; considering how difficult this can actually be for 'most' people.
I don't condone people cheating, but in the case of this event I understand the impulse.
There is a huge difference but for SE it's the same thing.
For example there's a huge difference between naked mods and naked lalafell mods but for SE there is zero difference.
The community can't cherry pick what is and isn't okay when it's all equally covered against the ToS. Which is why we self police to mitigate the issues.
Ishgard Restoration had a similar problem with bots crafting their way to the top of the leaderboards.
I feel people who use TOS breaking addons for anything, not just fall guys, should be shamed. And banned of course.
Absolutely not.
Play with the same limitations a PS5 player has. If you want a timer, use some non-integrated app. A cellphone. A web page.
If you don't like how your glam looks, get better glam and/or taste.
If you are giving yourself a different experience than a vanilla player I will not be shedding tears if you lose your characters. One day SE will step up and pull the trigger. Do you want to lose years of your time for that?
Far more likely, Yoshida will make a blog post about how he is disappointed and upset and wonder why he even bothers creating this content, a section of the community will go "OMG, he care's so much!" and then time will move on and 6.55 will drop and everyone will just move on.
I might have woken up a little cynical today
Didnt you hear them ?
If you're raiding savage or ultimate and you want a timer, go into your pocket, grab your phone and start a timer !
There's modders, then there's anti modders
The first one is just enjoying it's time, the second just hate the first one because they get more than they do
You are one very unhappy and frustrated person lmao, jesus dude
And youre the time who cant just play the game and needs to mod and cheat lol?
The only I can think of when I read this thread's title:
Witches of England...
You're a disgrace!
Miserable witches...
You're good for nothing worms!
Everywhere I look, I see the repulsive sight of hundreds, thousands of revolting, little children.
I ask you, Why?
One child a week is no good to me!

People are mad now because the cheating directly affects their ability to win. When people modded cute outfits in, or cheated in their isolated pve statics, it was harder for anyone to give a rat's ass because it was happening in an instance somewhere and didn't affect them. But now, imagine trying to win at fall guys when the people you're competing with have tools that automatically path them through the zone or show them the aoes well in advance. Even the ones who just seek out solo instances, were making it take that much longer for a legitimate instance to start because they kept leaving lobbies.
It's all a bunch of scumbag shit, but after watching this same community cheat at world first, at pvp, and in housing, I'm not surprised. Anytime competition arrives, this great community is eager to show how great it really is, lmao. I'm glad the title sucks or I'd feel compelled to try for it.
Maybe because of all the cheater using third party cheats is why where not getting the content that we use to get. I have no respect for cheaters, I sure don't use any cheats and I have 2 bad hands that make it hard to play and move fast. All they do is wreck the game for the rest of us. I remember way back on Aion if one was using cheats, it causes everyone around them to lag.

also just fyi, people doing solo lobbies aint "wrecking the game", that's the point, they want to play solo to win.
but hey good attempt
LMAO
But this is kind of first time it affected the entire play base as a whole
. Even though world first for ultimate are a niche group of player not the entire player base participate. The worst that happened was lose the titles weapons and get a wrist slap. Had SE took a tougher stance on cheating as in perma banning people would think twice about posting and sharing cheats.
