Do you think pre Endwalker bosses are in need of adjustments?

I'm grateful for the Endsinger adjustments, but the rest of the bosses are in desperate need of adjustments, the balance seems to be all over the place and I don't get why some are an absolute pushover while others feel like they released yesterday.

Some examples, off the top of my head:

• The Four Lords Trial series still feel fun to do and they don't die in seconds, they released in SB. Compare it to the Weapons in ShB that nowadays are an absolute pushover. I was hyped for the Big Fat Tacos music and instead all I got was dissapointment.
• Eden's Verse raids in normal were an absolute blast, yet you make it to Miss Turndelaeeton and her lights get turned off way too fast, with a battle that doesn't end immediately thanks to the crystal phase and the ice breaking phase.
• The bosses in Malikah's Well barely get to do anything, yet you make it to BE NOT AFRAID and the boss isn't an absolute pushover.
• Every boss from the Void Ark gets snuffed, except Echydna. Arachne in Mhach often gets her vortex phase skipped and Forgall often skips the first add phase, yet every other boss do their things. For some reason, only Proto Ultima is a joke in Dun Scaith.

There's more, but I'm impressed at how radical the shifts in difficulty are, sometimes inside the same instance. I know power and ability creep is a thing that has affected ARR and HW heavily, but I'm surprised to see how many of the ShB stuff is marginally less threatening in terms of HP than some of the SB ones...

Yes, I agree the syncs should be readjusted to at least tier syncs if not minimum item level. The problems mostly happens with content that was released earlier in the expansion. Anything released in the final tier survive a lot better, although sometimes that is a little less fun as well.

Since you gave the example of Void Ark, that was released in the first raid tier, about 100 item level lower than what we sync down to, so naturally none of the mechanics even matter nor are they threatening.

Weeping City had 3 bosses that I personally witnessed walling alliances and causing them to abandon or leave, when it was current. But the moment the raid tier was over and our item level increased, the whole thing became a joke. Ozma got skipped right to the black hole cast really fast, which is an add phase and then it dies shortly after that, which made it a shadow of its former self.

There used to be a different boss instead of Proto Ultima. The boss that is Proto Ultima was the fanfest fight from what I recall and they have to make that easy because people are not used to the keybinds on the computers there, nor are they necessarily good at the game (they might be journalists). Proto Ultima replaced the fight that was previously there and the raid then gave a reward we could exchange for accessories that were potentially BiS, something they haven't replicated since from alliance raids.

Let us be honest, we've all requested this for years and Yoshi-P has been asked directly about it in a media tour interview and nothing changed. All we can do is hope they eventually do something, but they don't seem to be in any rush.

To be fair, he was always a joke. The succubus that was there before could actually wipe the alliance because she wouldn't get interrupted.

Which is why she would wipe the raid, since nobody would stop a second to interrupt, lol.

I've seen the succubus in Forgall's fight wipe the raid, too. It's wild.

Personally, I do notice that Eden 8 ends before it's gone through all the mechanics, and that's a bit disappointing to me. I have fond memories of doing that fight when it was cutting edge.

That said, I think it's more important that content become easier over time. In a game like FF14, easier means more accessible, and the bulk of the player base is casual. There are plenty of players who wait a few extra patches before tackling MSQ trials because they feel like they need the extra iLevel boost.

And heck, being able to over-gear for some fights is one of the only ways FF14 still plays like an RPG; without that aspect it would just be "oh, Eden 8? Gotcha, here are the canned stats and moves you'll be using to fight this canned enemy", and at that point you'd have arguably removed 99% of the RPG elements from the fight.

Thankfully, anyone who wants something closer to the original experience can set up a min iLevel Party Finder, so I think that's good enough. If enough people want it, perhaps they could have a separate min iLevel matchmaking system, that way folks who were looking for that more challenging experience could be automagically matched with each other.

All of this is due to very poor adjustments of the HP of bosses/mobs between levels 50 and 80.
For the level 1-50 instances, it's obviously because of the current class balancing synced to low levels with spells that are way too powerful.

They absolutely need to rework the synchronization of the old instances to make them more similar to the original experience.
It might be impossible to fully replicate the original experience, but at least they should adjust them so that players can experience all the mechanics and not skip 80% of the boss mechanics.
It's a huge waste actually.

Everything should get the unreal treatment to make every encounter play as intended, if this were the case the game would have much more of a community going on and helping each other out. Games so braindead now noone needs to talk about anything, you just steamroll through.

An ARR alliance raid should be just as lethal as the latest one.

Lots of old content could use some ilvl caps, particularly the Crystal Tower raids which could have resolved a lot of the issues of the alliance raids roulette without them having to do what they did recently to "fix" it.

Yes, lots of content should be adjusted and have our item levels reined in. Even many regular dungeon bosses, it just seems like mechanics can basically be ignored with little to no consequence. They can do this if they want to, I guess they just don't want to.

Maybe it's my imagination, but Crystal Tower feels like its gotten even worse recently. My last run, Scylla died before she could finish her Ancient Flare cast. Not that it would have mattered, it's not like it kills anybody anyway.

Haukke Hard suffers a bit from this but in the opposite sense as Halicarnassus' health can be lowered so fast that she summons and insta-kills Amandine, causing her to wipe the group.

Reminds me of doing Sephirot Ex Synced with Echo on. At like, 3 stacks of Echo, his add phase is a Healer's nightmare. You have to spam group heals because his adds die so fast that the AoEs just keep happening.

I had no idea that this was something people kept asking for years and it makes it even worse for me. I mean, the Endsginger thing gave me hope but it's becoming evident they don't care.

Yes and sync needs to be fixed. It worked great initially but with new jobs and potency increases it no longer works the way it was intended. Old content is steamrolled and phases are easily skipped.

I agree, especially for the first two CT raids. I mean I started playing halfway through ShB, and when I first did the first two CT raids it was kinda boring because it seemed to me that the strats were simply "hit the boss until it's dead". When I started the third raid, I was caught off guard because there's actually quite a challenge.

When I checked what the first two raids looked like when they were new, you could imagine my surprise when I found out that you had to do things to win. Did you know that during the Glasya Labolas fight you had to jump on the outer platforms to avoid a spell that would one-shot you if you stayed on the main arena? I didn't either.

It gets better with SB though, the ilvl caps seem better managed.

Yes, pretty much every trial, dungeon boss, and raid boss needs to be fixed to make them harder. I'd honestly be pretty annoyed as a developer knowing the work put into these fights is largely meaningless because all the mechanics can basically be ignored.

And then they proceed to let it sink and stagnate. Deffinitely not old, Yoshida San.

Stats didn't get squished hard enough with the stat squish. Weak bosses are not a good RPG experience. Even bumping up the rate at which bosses cast mechanics a little could help.

I think there should be some ilvl wiggle room so gear will feel relevant, but I do agree there should be some ilvl tightening so fights will feel more relevant for groups who queue into them synced.

Yep, that's also my main concern with solving everything by ilvl syncing, as gearing would become more of a "meet this number here to participate" than what it already is, for most of the game. I just don't understand why some battles nowadays feel way well adjusted than some others when using current expansion max ilvl gear. As I said before, for some reason Byakko, Suzaku and Seiryu feel more "recent" than Ruby, Emerald and Diamond weapons, and Ryne Shiva feels weaker than all other encounters that came before her.

Yes, definitely. While the difficulty being too grueling may push players away, every obstacle melting if you look at it funny for tens of levels is also really bad to keep new players engaged.

Other than the trials/raids that were already mentioned in this thread, I feel that the mid-level dungeons from HW and SB, arguably the most challenging parts of their MSQs before, got hit especially hard by the potency creep/ilvl sync bat. The Vault may as well be made out of paper now, and the poor last boss in Bardam's Mettle can get every single phase skipped if your party's DPS is high enough!

partially, its partially the fault on the huge power creep they give from ilvl. They need ot hard cap the ilvl not nessarily min at most the max ilvl that is possible for that particular dungeon/trail/raid/
good example is hard capping WoD to ilvl 110 and this hard cap would apply to armor stats and such. THey can do it but SE chooses not to.

Honestly I'm running out of ideas of how to make this feedback more relevant. I mean, the Endsinger fix is a testament to their ability to listen and do something, I just don't know the magic keywords or star signs needed for them to do so, as even asking Yoshida in person failed.

I would say that is getting better. More people who knows what they are doing are doing alliance raid, so boss dies faster and l can get my tomestone faster. "Min ilevel" as an option exist for a reason.

I'd honestly be fine with SE making a "Minimum iLevel Roulette." Just give it the Mentor Roulette treatment where it's just a literal roulette for any/all duties you've unlocked (excluding Extreme-Coil/Savage and MSQ dungeon of course) + have the tomes/exp acquired vary depending on what you get. Dungeons - low, Trials/Raids - mid, Alliance Raids - high.

they do all this stuff to the game.
graphic update, text boxes with pictures in all the old instances, reducing msq, npc's for all these old dungeons including changing mechanics for these npc's, a few dungeons even got a full make over, streamlining all the fight markers and yet they dont care about the gameplay. the most important thing. all they do are visuals, an empty (good looking) husk without soul.

they dont even try. they rather just throw all the passiv skills away so additionally to the gear we overpower content also with our basic skill dmg.

Only tricky fight in there was the adorable Cuchulainn, but then Ozma came along and made him look like a joke. Void Ark is pretty much the Syrcus Tower (also a joke on release) of the Mhach raids.
Though I have seen wipes on the second boss in Void Ark, but that was because: people didn't kill the adds and also let themselves be eaten (the plant in the middle enrages if you feed it too much).

YES.

Before the nerfs ppl instantly bailed. It was so bad, multiple wipes on every boss... heck ive had wipes on the first pack of trashmobs xD

But even if you manage ok, Cid was usually a wall. Either ppl messed the adds, by not killing em, dying on em, or - my favorite - killed the other party with their aoe.
Also all 3 parties needed to be alive and tank. if an tank is dead, someone else gets their aggro and if the tank doesnt get up fast, ppl would die. Sometimes you could watch him eat a party alive that way lol
-IF a party managed to die and ANY of the 3 party mechanics were up, it was a fullwipe. even IF you were lucky and no mechanics were up at that moment, you had the aggro that would pick any other party and start hurting.

Due how his arena was made, it was harder to ress the other parties too...

And if everything worked out somehow, he had that other add phase with the ice orbs that would fullwipe if you dont kill em in time, unless you manage a tank lb3 lol

It was fun.


Oh and then you still had ULTIMA to deal with, which often killed the alliance with her aoe, long before phase two. Though once you reached that, it was rather easy.. unless again, if no one handled adds and everyone ate all aoe lol

Edit: and ofc we never had the 10% echo boost they have added there nowadays xD

The enrage also isn't even a insta-kill. It just spams Root Storm every 4 seconds (4-5k damage).
But yeah, for that to happen I think 10 people/adds had to be eaten.

Honestly, all the main story dungeons and trials for the final leg of the expansions need adjustments due to how quick they end before theyve even started their phase 2 lol
