It's time to add more wards to housing

It is time to add more wards to housing. Without even adding an entire new housing district, if they just doubled the amount of wards in game, it would make a huge difference. I understand that testing, and time is needed to add such a large amount. I can deal with that. A new district would be a welcome additional space addition, but they could develop that later, and just focus on making more space with what they already have.

They should make it a priority to add new waves of housing space each patch if they are going to keep relying on this aging system. I'm not saying no to instanced housing, this is not an argument for instanced housing, so please keep that out of this thread. This is a suggestion to improve the systems we already have. They should be adding wards every single major patch cycle, and the fact that it has been so long since they have done that is sloppy, and a bit of an insult to the player base that has been complaining about housing for so long.

I understand that they are upgrading the graphics, and probably really short on managing space as it is with the upcoming expansion, but it would be really cool if Dawntrail added more housing space with every patch, or perhaps during the off season between expansions as a kind gesture to get the player base ready. There's no excuse other than the space on the data centers being the limiting factor. They should still be working on it, and getting it done though. This is arguably one of the most complained about things in the fandom.

Each ward holds a lot of server space, they can’t just add them Willy Nilly every patch and expect to still have enough server space to do anything, there has to be a limit

This is to say nothing of with the exceptions of a few worlds on aether and behemoth most servers have plenty of free plots right now because so many people are giving up their house to take long breaks

Honestly this is probably the worst time in recent memory to add more housing

They already did that previously. They added the concept of subdivisions, which are clones of all the wards. Then they added new housing areas over time as well, such as Empyreum and Shirogane.

The problem was that within the first few minutes of release, all of them were taken, because the demand was that high that it still wasn't even close to enough. Back then, we didn't have the lottery system though.

You're playing on Balmung, the world with the highest population in the game, and complaining that there's not many houses.

Dynamis is wide open, you can get a house in a single round.

Dynamis has loads of undesirable small houses up, and cycles mediums and larges pretty regularly. (you wont win those though since they usually all get over 10 bids)

10 bids or over = instant loss

that's a way to never get a house that's for sure

A few months ago I won a personal house out of 68 bids, if I had the same mindset as you did, I would have given up in advance

10% Chance on that. And thats ususally the minim I've noticed on Marilith.
Last Large I bid on had 40 bids, and thats a 2.5% chance.

I already have a house and more gil than I could ever know what to do with so I just throw it at any large that comes up, I'm not going to kid myself into thinking these odds will ever lead to anything.

But yeah if undesirable smalls in ishgard are your thing dynamis is your server.

If you say so lmao, I know many people who have gotten mediums on dyna, some in 1 or 2 rounds, and shiro mediums or at the very least mist.

Your thinking and negativity is how people dont get houses because they dont even try.

Is it? You act like it's some difficult act to go over to the placard and bid. Regardless of your mindset the odds are the same.

You can't blame people for having such a poor outlook on it either. It's all up to luck. There's no way to earn a house in this game. You spend each week gambling against pretty high odds, and the whole time the playerbase attacks each other despite the scarcity issue being created by the devs.

I never said it's difficult, but I am saying that if you have a mindset that "I'll lose anyway" a lot of people probably wouldnt even bother/try to upgrade because they give up in advance, its a terrible mindset to have, yes its all luck, just like loot, and yet you still hope to get loot if you actually do content dont you ?

Tbf the balmung thing is on them, from a housing standpoint I have 0 empathy about someone on the most populated world in the game complaining there's not enough of a limited ressource

People complaining about 1/10 chances of a medium on dynamis, hell a 1/10 chance of all undesirable goblet plot on jenova is a good deal

And yet that’s how the housing system works, if you want a good plot then bid for it, if you just want any house: go to dynamis

What they need to do is improve and enhance instanced housing to make it more desireable. The mention of "housing mirage" during the patch note reading on the 2nd sounds promising when it comes to partially solving demand for medium and large houses. It would be nice if that also extended to apartments.

Tbf the balmung thing is on them, from a housing standpoint I have 0 empathy about someone on the most populated world in the game complaining there's not enough of a limited ressource

tbf though about 10 wards are still locked out from the players on dynamis and its been a year.

We don't need more wards, we need more item slots, 30 outside? Really?

Laughable at best. Apartments are still limited, and mostly full on the majority of wards in our worlds. We need people to realize that this is NOT a solution to the housing problems unless more wards are added. Otherwise they are just as full and bloated as the rest of the system.

Yeah me. I have a medium on Dynamis, got it in a 1 out of 1 bid in the very first housing lottery. That was a year ago.
I would not however tell someone to move to dynamis for a sub 10% chance at getting a desirable house.

This is wrong. Balmung is saturated with off world visitors, characters who CANNOT own a plot. Balmung is actually one of the lesser populated NA worlds due to the fact that it is almost always classed as congested preventing new characters from being made on it or transferring in.

Plus four more worlds with their associated housing still yet to be added.

There's kinda zero percent chance they add anything more to housing until/unless those start getting adequately full. There's no reason to add more housing to all worlds if players keep demonstrating that they only want to fill out on a select few worlds leaving others vacant. The housing "scarcity" is an intentional method to distribute player populations easing server loads.

And y'know what, let's be real here, excessively adding more housing was a mistake that has led to the proliferation of the shitty "club" PFs and /shout advertisers.

I'd rather have players complaining about a lack of housing over all that /shout spam any day. >__>

Won't do it. Keeping housing scarce on worlds where people actually care about owning a home makes it valuable and makes you less likely to quit the game because you won't wanna lose something scarce just because you were gone a couple of months. It all ties together really nicely. The game doesn't have to spend money on more space, AND they get to preserve this toxic manipulative system that keeps people subbing even when they don't want to play. Best part is, CBU3 will never have to defend it; they have people here who'll happily do that for them, for free. Cheers!

This is not true. Balmung is full regardless of world visit or not. You sound like someone who was never around Balmung before world visit, or data center travel. We have a server culture of our own.

Players from Balmung complaining about Housing. Find the error :D

Ok and? Small worlds can have a culture too. Maybe look at the actual numbers of characters on your world. Before Dynamis your world was the NA server with the lowest population at around 300k characters. Actually if anything having less people makes having a culture easier. And you're also a legacy world so...probably have more people around who were grandfathered into the whole being allowed to own more than one private plot.

There final hope is for 7.0 to flood their servers. But that is waited to be seen

I’m definitely in the “add instanced already” camp, but as far as more wards go, it looks like the current UI has room for another 6 wards per district for a total of 36. But that’s just a visual thing; whether the servers have enough room to back that up is another matter! I’d also be interested in seeing an Old Sharlayan district added. If it’s in the works at all, we’ll probably hear about it in one of the Fanfests. Otherwise it’s probably not on the radar for 7.0. And there’s also the locked wards on Dynamis, that maybe they’ll open when the Xbox players start, assuming they get funneled to Dynamis, as they should IMO.

Seriously though, instanced could solve a lot of problems, making both availability in general and choice of size a non-issue, without the heavy server load the wards create. Some people will always prefer the “neighborhood” feel of the wards, and as that was the devs’ vision, that’s what they’ve stuck with. But just seeing the things that can be done in an instanced system like IS, it makes me sad that there isn’t an instanced version being added. All they really need to do is decorate a handful of scenic spaces and put a plot on them. Sure they might be one size fits all within a given theme (like only one forest style, beach style, etc.) but some people just want to decorate a house. They don’t care about anything more than having a canvas for their creativity and a space for their personal use. And just think of all the potential! If they did it, and it ended up being popular, they could add new themes every so often and you could eventually live anywhere in the game! Want to live on the Azim Steppe or Thavnair? Those areas will probably never see a residential district, but they could be used as a backdrop for instanced housing!

Bottom line is, we all pay to play. We should all have the same access to content, that isn’t subject to a random lotto. They need to decide if they’re going to invest in a solution - one way or the other - to the problem or not. If they don’t, well maybe you can get a house in another 10 years when they finish the next story arc and put the game in maintenance mode. lol

That isn't actually true though. We have always been the most popular. Typical Balmung visitors not knowing anything, and assuming our culture for us.

As of the last census balmung has the smallest population of native characters of the NA servers because it’s spent more of its life locked than unlocked

Idk about other servers, but on Phoenix there have been many plots available as of late. So much so that some of them don't get purchased even though they have been available for weeks.
