can we just stop with the troll/bait posts already...

I'm gonna be real.. I KNOW this will fall on deaf ears, but I'm sick of reading them.. is it to much to come here and not have a stupid thread about "ode to trolls", "my cannon lgbtq character" "this game is deing!!11"

I don't know if the devs read this place, but i know if they did they wouldn't get far in whatever they were looking for. If you genuinly want change, want your ideas heard or just want to express something about the game you love..or hate.. youll never be listened to while these stupid troll posts with NO substance continue to dominate the forums.

this is not a callout thread.. this is a PLEA to stop this, stop engaging in it, stop joking about it... stop feuling it and stop doing it... because the minute you make one of those stupid posts is the minute you add to the issue on here. new people come here looking for genuine community engagement, devs (might) come here looking for feedback.. and if all we get all the time is these troll threads that suffocate legitimatley good threads.. nothing will ever be done with this place and it will continue to deteriorate to the same 5 users...

It's been a while since any genuine suggestions have actually been posted on these threads as a forum topic starter. That isn't, "Put my job/story fan fiction into the game!".

Sadly this will never happen. Troll threads will exist and people will respond. Believe me I've tried to get people by saying "wouldn't it be great if this post had no responses at all and just died out?" only for that exact thread to get like 30 pages.

here are some examples. these threads are not meant to start legitimate discussion, theyre made to annoy people, which has been working... by baiting people to argue over politics... its quite gross actually taking advantage of actual LGBTQ issues to rile up the forums

I guess those aren't really what I had in mind because some of those just feel really out there to me. Not bad ideas, just not really something that feels super impactful in my personal opinion.
Also Female Hrothgar is already confirmed so I wouldn't really count it here.

You do realise that a thread asking for people to stop trolling does nothing but feed the trolls more. You're giving them even more attention then bumping their thread. You made a whole new thread just about them.

There's always going to be people who will engage with the troll threads. You could just, not open those threads. Simple as that.

honestly, ive seen that not working. seen it do absolutley nothing for the issue. so yes i made one of those "please stop" threads like the other 5million people sick of this, have i added to this issue by talking about it. oh probabbly.. but is it becomming completly out of hand. absolutley/ every single thread is the same nonsense drowning out good legitimate threads, hence why our good fellow above didnt even know half of them excisted. this thread is here to give voice and validation to the people SICK of seeing them, to the devs moderating the forums that we ARE SICK of them being enabled. and to make certian users take a long hard look at there own history and how it may have contrinuted to the issue.

so no, i wont sit here silant anymore because its "easier, and wont draw them attention" this thread will continue to be engaged in so long as those posts continue to thrive, and when those trolls succeed in reducing the forums to 5 users posting the same memes over and over, this threadwill serve as proof that we did try to stop it, even if it be in vain.

and if they should so happen to grace this thread with there presence, only to say "oh well never stop" then at least itl be all the easier to add them to the filter list, perhaps even to encourage others to do the same

I personally don't see this thread staying active. The only reason the troll ones stay active is due to negativity (drama) attracting everyone to it.

Most people who cared about trolling don’t even really post here anymore. Forums are more boring than ever. So much so even this thread barely got a stir out if me. I’ve accepted the low quality place this is now, always was, and always will be.

I'd wager that the amount of troll posts and bait threads aren't actually increasing, it's probably because a number of more active users have been driven away from the forums in one way or another, so the spotlight is more on the trolls than usual.

I will say though, it's kind of sad when you see people who say they don't like the trolling are usually one of the first to respond to a thread created by the troll they claim to dislike.

Female Hrothgar is planned. Yes, there is no release date, but they are planned. Pressuring the devs is just gonna make them release it incomplete with lacking hairstyles and hats just like the last two. They said it won't happen in 6.0 so it only makes sense that we went two years without a word. It's one of those just be patient type of things.

i do hope, that going forward this thread might server as a way to identify the problematic people and incentivise people to ignore there posts and not bump them. or to add them to the ignore list and start bumping the threads they genuinly care about

in this race, i have no real horse... i am happy with my cherry lizard man and that will never change. but i am simply saying why i see legitimacy in the threads existance. any complaints beyond that are best given to said threads OP

Nobody questioned the existence of the thread nor it's purpose. I just simply said that it doesn't really count as a suggestion thread (let alone a new one) anymore when the devs have already public confirmed it is in development. We're just debating semantics at this point.

Bad idea. It creates a form of recognition and notoriety for them, essentially giving them part of the attention they're already seeking.

The best course of action is to put them on ignore. Do not post in or even read topics they start. Do not reply to them in topics that other posters start.

Good luck friend. There is already so much of it now unfortunately. So many players i.e. people are desperate for attention for their threads they won't stop.

This thread is as useless as the thread it is complaining about.

Honestly, welcome to every official forum ever.

In all my years of reading forums, I've never seen them be anything other than a playground for trolls, drama addicts and people who think being a prat is somehow a substitute for actual conversational skills.

Personally I don't mind the "joke" troll threads since they are meant to be taken as satire and not actually baiting people into anything. We've really only seen a handful of those lately -- Renalt did a couple, I made one, Swordsman's "Tales of Skiros" story counts as that too (I hope?). That's all I can think of right now. If we were making new threads like that every day to clog the front page, it would be a problem, but we're not.

The real trolls really do make new posts every day, sometimes multiple each day, either to just say how awful the game is and how every other game is so much better, or else bringing up controversial political topics just to goad people into fighting. Naturally, I am against these kinds of threads. They are a real problem and pollute the forums with empty drivel and antagonism.

While this thread will do nothing to deter the trolls, I'm still for any opportunity to remind the trolls that we dislike them and wish they were not here. Although, the best thing people can do is simply not post in their threads and let them fade away without any attention. Even if you have something to say about the topic the troll is pretending to care about, just don't engage. If you want to say something about the topic, make a new thread for actual discussion as if the other thread never existed. Worth a shot, anyway.

Agreed. I don't mind the joke threads either because the point of threads like those is satire and humor. Some people hate the joke threads, but hey, in the end, the mods allow those posts to exist, so it's fair game.

The more I'm reading this forum, I believe you shouldn't get anything. No new expansion. No new raids. Nothing. You simply don't deserve any of it.
