Will be interesting to see what comes of this, particularly with "Survey answers will serve as a reference for our future endeavors" in mind.

Thanks for the link! Finished my survey. That was fun haha
As much as I would like to provide feedback to the game, I don't think I am allowed to, as I don't have an active subscription at the moment.

I said I wanted more Alphinaud and Alisaie because I know how much you guys love them.
Well, props to SE for giving me an actual place to say my opinions about my main job Scholar instead of just telling me to yell into the void of the OF. I doubt it will amount to anything, but it does feel good seeing them actually ask.
I'm not sure how some of these questions are that helpful (favorite minion and your home aetheryte?)
Will be curious how they use this and if they read comments though.
I tend to put the town with the latest tomestone gear as my free location, while my actual home is my GC location.
For the survey though, I put on the final box that the game feels like a daycare with how low the challenge level is, and that it doesn't get harder the further into the story you go.
I tried doing the survey by logging into my lodestone account but the survey always states that my lodestone address isn't alligned with the survey location...
Is this survey not meant for EU citizens? I'm a bit confused.
I had the same problem until I went back to the Square site and found the survey myself. The link doesn't really work with the EU side. Here's the link I get when I find it on the site myself:

In short I told them I have low hopes for the AST rework, battle content and job/class design has been low quality, and I hate the "single player" direction they're going with for an MMO.
The question are ridiculous... nothing about the gameplay, what you think about the current state of the game but things like "what's your favourite mount" or "which npc would you like to see in a side story"... If that's the feedback they care about, we're doomed.
[edit]
Ok, I stand corrected the the last question ("what sort a place is ffXIV to you") is kinda the place to express the problem you see with the game right now.
Yeah the questions were very fluffy - like what you'd ask for a marketing "10 year infographic" puff-piece. Only one I think could be helpful is which NPC you want to see more of (Edit: VOTE HIEN if you forgot he existed lol). Maybe who your arch-nemesis is - though I haven't felt all that challenged recently so I just picked ARR Leviathan lol.
I was hoping for something a little more like the 1.0 players poll that was about the future direction of the game, like what you wanted to have change or stay the same. They already have data on what the most used mounts/minions/home points are. I guess maybe they could compare the poll data to the real data and show us how wrong we are? And maybe it'll be fun to see if an NPC other than Y'shtola or Graha wins a side story.
I can't answer the survey because i am trying to access from outside the NA...i am from Brazil and i won't use a VPN just to provide some feedback.
Weird policy. They probably have our public IP when we access the game...they could just match tables to validate our answers, a few lines of SQL wouldn't kill a dev.

It took me way too long to realize that the Magus Sisters minion name actually starts with "W" (Wind up Magus Sisters)...
Hey other me, you gotta embrace the fact FFXIV is pretty much like second life at this point (actually you shouldnt, but it really is basically second life)
When I saw that survey and the fact the main question on the facebook post was "what is your favorite mount/minion ?" as a SURVEY, I actually laughed out loud because this is really what this game goes down to, instead of asking what type of content people prefer, what area they would love for housing next, maybe some difficulty related questions in regards to content, but nah, what matters with this dev team is what people's favorite minions and mounts are, its pretty pathetic really
And then I get blamed for having absolutely 0 trust in this company and 0 hope that things will eventually get better, when I see this, I can see very well that I am right to not have any hope in regards to the future of this game
I was actually hopeful when I heard there was a survey, here I was hoping it was similar to the one we had for 1.0! Then I opened it and quickly reminded why I’ve slowly over time finding myself more and more disappointed with the direction I see the game continuously going. I bring up community based content, more focus on midcore content and people get upset because I’m “gatekeeping” an MMO and the fact it’s heading into a single player visual novel is a good thing and how the game is no longer for me. Just completely deflating lol
Oh I totally get you, I'm at the point I dont even bother logging in tbh, it's just not worth it sadly, I came from WoW like 2 years or so ago hoping to enjoy FFXIV's content, and all I found was completely boring jobs with 0 identity, raids that are mid at best with savage being a good equal to HC difficulty, and ultimate being mythic raiding difficulty in WoW,problem is that there's barely any ultimates to do, 5 IIRC, and savage just really isnt fun to me at least because of the way jobs are, the 2 minutes meta amongst many other things, this game lacks an identity and uniqueness, it's so bland
And when you see a survey like this, you know very well SE will keep on catering to people that are modding and venue goers or people just afk all the time sitting in Limsa doing absolutely nothing just so they dont feel like they "have to do something" because god forbid they would have ANY reason to log in
This game is doomed, it will keep on going for a few years though, it aint dead, but the population will continue shifting from people doing content to singleplayer users and more modders/venue people, while there will continue to be less and less content pumped out as it's not even needed at this point, even in the case that people complain, they have an actual free defense brigade everywhere on every social media to defend the game's problems, so it doesnt change, and never will.
SE wont kill this game, they make an absolute massive amount of money from it, they have no reasons to want it gone, the community itself will kill it over time.
Good I’m not the only one who thought “can I have a survey about my current opinions on the game, not a stupid flavour survey about my favourite aetheryte”
As to be expected mainsub totally missed the point and is gushing over this survey
I love bluebird because it sits on my shoulder and makes me feel happy, and I was glad to be able to say that to SE so :P to all the debbie downers.
I am actually being genuine when I say I’m glad you do enjoy things like minions! I do as well and I went through a spree of trying to collect all of them because I’m weird. I do love housing, collecting mounts and glams all that stuff but I just end up feeling a bit sad when I see longtime friends I’ve had over the years just simply stop logging in due to issues we all similarly feel are only trending more and more regarding content and actual gameplay instances.
This was a pretty fun survey. I really liked the raid boss question. I wonder if they would actually write a short story about Ultros, Typhon, Enkidu, or recording node if they get submissions for them.
For now my friendlist still active with the same 10-12 players online depending on the hour...i have a mix of every type of player. Personally i don't feel encouraged to log in right now.
For side character i answered Unukalhai becase every arc is complete. Some characters are too powerful to keep around (blue bird) some cool ones are dead (blonde simp). We know enough about the scions, there is nothing new to be add. I felt attempted to answer as Fordola/Arenvald.
It's an awkward question to answer after the end of 10 years of lore. There is no hole in terms of characters development, fortunately/unfortunately.
I was actually very hyped for island so I had been doing that, I think I just was expecting it to be a bit more involved than it was so I felt like I lost interest in it as content which is unfortunate because honestly it was what I had been looking forward to most with endwalker. I really disliked the whole weird little minions being everywhere, was hoping to see to see actual crafting and gathering implemented to it as well which I honestly was kind of surprised it wasn’t. Argument I’ve seen for that is people not being leveled/locked out, thing is it could be like beastmen tribes where it just scales to your current level.
My choice of side character was Fordola, without hesitation or question.
But there are no questions of:
- How do you feel about job/class balance?
- Which expansion did you feel had the most fun raids/dungeons/ultimate?
- What kind of content did you want to see more of?
Or even questions about the newest content we got - Criterion/Variant and Island Sanctuary.
The "favorite foe" question doesn't read to me as "which is the funnest fight" and more as "what is your favorite villain". And as for the job question? Again it doesn't seem to ask what pain points you like about the job, or even ROLE.
So yeah the questionaire does seem to favor the casual side too heavily.
The favorite mount/minion question seems... kind of a stupid one outside of seeing what other kinds of minions would the player base want. IF they are asking for that angle why limit it to mounts/minions and not gear styles, hair styles and clothing styles as well (such as fantasy vs rl, racial/regional gears etc)?
I don't mind these questions but I do mind they refuse to ask the questions I want to answer and give feedback on. This is a perfect chance to do so and it feels wasted.
They always give you the option to express yourself better than just mark your answer. There is something called emotional state analysis, they can easily use your text to understand the reason of your happiness/unhappiness. Also, you can find their intention here:
Depending on the responses we receive, the new side story may feature a character whom already appears in a previous side story or the new Tales under the New Moon series.
Survey answers will serve as a reference for our future endeavors
This survey feels exactly like those questions made by Omega (Venat, Emet or Hermes) or Venat "Has your journey been good?". It's a collection of generic questions, not a combat specific question or combat design question. This is confirmed here:
As part of A Realm Reborn’s 10th Anniversary celebrations[...] Tell us about your main job, what sort of place FFXIV is to you, and other details we would like to hear about your adventures!
They just want to internally compare those results of 10 years later to the previous survey during 1.0. Such complaint makes no sense. It's like asking for an owl to hunt like an eagle. This survey probably was made by marketing department (confirmed by the first two questions) and not from someone that belongs to the main staff.
I would give you the reason if they said "here is an important survey about in-game mechanics, we would like to hear where we can improve" but isn't. Chill.
