Glamour dressers in housing

First, I want to thank SE for announcing we're finally going to get Mog station items in the armoire. That will help with glamour dresser space so much! Now, it would be really awesome if I could have a glamour dresser in my personal or FC house/room. While I've figured out the fastest way to get to an inn room so I can get to a dresser, it'd be much nicer to allow them in personal/FC housing. Even if you only allowed it in personal houses or FC rooms as a start, that would be nice. Thank you SE team for all you do, let's keep making those exciting QoL adjustments! \0/

Want this too. The entire reason that my GC is flames is because the squadron command room has a dresser in it. Would much rather be able to us one in my house.

Wow, I hadn't thought of this. I usually used the aetheryte to go to Adventurer's Guild then up to the Quicksand. I'll have to use this so I don't have to walk too far. Thanks for the tip!

From what I got in a similar thread a few weeks ago, it's a problem of only being available on solo instancied zones, like inn's rooms and your Grand Company Squadron HQ. I don't remember the details, but from what I got, it's a technical problem.

Technically they aren't instanced, they just don't network players to each other, only the party list still gets information if you are in the same zone.

The reason there is no dresser in housing areas is because there was a technical issue if the dresser was moved while it was being used by another player. I don't know where the "the server crashes if two players use it at the same time" thing came from, but Yoshi never said that. Regardless, the reason hasn't been a problem for a while now, because the game no longer lets you move furniture that is being used.

Yeah they can just place it at our workshops... at least for an FC thats an acceptable workaround.

If there's still technical issues in having it be an interactable furnishing, then they should make a separate room for it like the FC workshop/private chambers are. Except make it available for private houses too.

If this is true then hopefully it's in the works.

At this stage nothing has changed. Last few attempts caused server crashes.

glamour dressers are impossible in houses the same reason a checkmark on obtained items is impossible: yoship lied

It's not a secret. Vets who were here since the beginning can verify that they tried to implement dressers and it caused massive server crashes.

I have never found this statement from SE where it was said the servers would crash. They never specified what the resulting issue was, it could easily just be an item dupe. That thread doesn't link to one either. It has the same previous quote from 6 years ago and one of the more credible community devs saying the same thing I already did as well.

Easy solution, imho:

1) Add the private-room door to all houses (FC or Solo); maybe put it at the top of the stairwell in S houses.
2) Make a "Dressing Room" or Powder Room or whatever, where you go to what is essentially an instanced, undecorable (is that a word?) room with the glamour dresser, armoire, retainer bell and maybe FC chest.
3) Profit.

I don't remember the problem of it, but it was either A) more then 1 person using it at once (solved by instanced room) or B) Moving it while in use (solved by making the instanced room non-decorate-able)

imagine having a bit of talent and coding the thing in a way that if someone use the dresser you can't move it, yeah imagine. what a revolution and not doable by a small indie company

Thats an non issue - just put it into the FC workshop, unmovable, fixed instance where you can change things. Make it a company rank up + 1.000.000 credits, call it a day. Bonus round, place one into the entrance of Apartments as well, just next to the moogle.

Can I ask what is the point?
That makes no difference from just going to Inn at all.
Inn is far more stable than FC workshop.
Not only you can log out in Inn, it is also accessible by everyone

I will proudly necro until the feature is added.

I also don't believe that excuse from Yoshi P. We can already place a summoning bell which loads up to 8 retainers with 140 inventory slots each, for a total of 1120 items (not including crystals) which is more than the max capacity of a glamour dresser. Multiple players can use it simultaneously, and moving it causes zero problems. Not to mention the FC chest.

Even if it were impossible, which I don't believe is true... just make it immovable while in use. There are many ways to address the supposed issue.

It does seem suspicious.

Why not at least add a "glamour studio" to the Aesthetician bell?

That's what known as an (admittedly major) bug. It can definitely be fixed. They just don't want to put the resources into fixing it.

Glamour in this entire game is a complete afterthought by the devs, despite it being one of the major reasons people play between content patches.

I can't remember the details, god it's been so long...but I seem to remember that:

IF
1) The glam dresser is being accessed AND
2) Someone moves a piece of furniture OR
3) Someone else ALSO accesses the glam dresser
THEN
A) Server A'SPLODE

(I think YoshiP explained it that it loads every single piece of gear at once, per character. And that moving it is like moving 1000 objects at once..or something)

I still think the solution is easy:
1) Add it to workshop
2) Make it so "You can't interact with this while someone else is using it".

Alternative:
1) Make an entirely new room you can purchase called a wardrobe. Inside looks like a clothing storage, and has a glamour dresser. It's instanced to individuals so everyone enters a private version a la Inn rooms.
2) Add an upgrade to the wardrobe for a "Greenscreen" stage/background area for posing.

If you mean a toggle when interacting with the bell, same issue as the dresser. If you mean DURING the aesthetician changes, probably would cause even more problem with how the feature puts your character in a form of limbo.

I mean that when clicking on the Aesthetician bell it should take us to a seperate instance called a "glam studio" where it's a fixed room, like the inn room, that has a glamour dresser in it and Aesthetician. Bonus points if we can control the lighting in this area to really try out our glams.

I get the idea, but tbh that isn't really less of a hassle than going to the Inn. Gpose features would be nice, but then people will ask for a way to get other players in the room

It's a little bit less hassle.

I wonder if they could just make this accessible from the menu? I like the idea of the glamour dresser being a physical object out in the world, but on the other hand, it's very irritating.

I don't understand programming on this scale, but it seems weird no other game I know of has problems like this.

Yeah, but your idea don't solve anything, what is the difference between make a trip to Inn and make a trip to FC dock is what i am asking.
