FF14 Classic+ new fresh start?

Hey.
I was wondering if the players would be interested in a ff14 classic+ type server that would start from arr 2.0 and expand from there on like now. Of course, it wouldn't have to be a direct copy of the original arr 2.0, but this could include many good innovations...e.g clamore, no TP system, etc..this should of course be discussed which features were opened immediately in 2.0 and which in later patches. I know that all the old content is still in this game, but at the moment, e.g. lvl 50 content, it seems to be just to get 130ilvl equipment and do MSQ. You can do dungeons and raids, but they don't have the same value if they're not progress. But would there be an idea here?

People can use minimum iLv DF setting to experience older fights at roughly the original difficulty. There isn't much value in experiencing older expansions as the were then because the game has always been the same in the ways that matter most. Old gear would regain its loot restrictions, weekly cap. Old versions of jobs is the biggest difference, especially ones that were reworked entirely. You could go back and mess around with those but it's not enough to necessitate its own server.

Removing TP wasn't a good innovation, though. lol
But yeah, I remember the days where you used a skill depending on the situation and not because 2 minutes had passed.

TP was nothing but yellow MP without a yellow Dreaming. If TP were to be readded the roles that use it would have to be given a Regain role action and the AoE attack costs would have to be reduced to parallel caster/healer AoE MP costs. And then there wouldn't be any point to it because it would just be MP and all TP costs would be shifted to MP so that TP could be removed again.

Ehhh kind of. Even at min ilvl, anything before ShB is easy easier than it was when it first came out, due to slowly and steadily buffing pretty much every job and action over the course of years. Heck even ShB duties are losing their damage requirements fast.

In my opinion, this is an issue that absolutely should be addressed by SE/the dev team.

The experience would be sad and short lived, once players realize that the only real difference of a "Classic" server would be long waits to enter instances. And no housing.

Not all TP users had it.

Even were it available to all physical jobs, it would need its Recast reduced to 60s to match Dreaming so as not to impose a stricter death tax on physical jobs, and then, again, might as well just make weaponskills cost MP so there isn't an extra bar to pretend to make things interesting.

I'm not saying bringing TP back would be a good idea. I agree it would suck. I was just pointing out that there were ways to regen TP even back then.

Most of the changes to this game were like "thank goodness, we've needed this change". That's why if we went back it would just be annoying.

As people have said you can still experience old content in a decent with the Minimum IL and Silence Echo settings. The only thing that really could help with it is something to make us do it, such as roulette for Minimum IL, Faux Hollows for Minimum IL content, or a Wondrous Tails book for Minimum IL content.

Also, this is the New Player forum. If you want to discuss something among veterans it would make more sense to put it in the General forum

MP is equally useless now.
And I prefer playing a game and strategising. The current system is fun in hard content but for the vast majority it isn't. TP and MP management would bring something back that's sorely missing from the game. And would give opportunities for new skills to be added and new strategies to be formed.

Every time XIV removes yet another aspect of combat in favour of pressing 1, 2, 3, the gameplay suffers.

It can be seen in bigger boss circles, removal of positionals, absence of status effects, the two minute meta, deleted job synergy, lack of meaningful resource management... The list goes on. All so people can parse uninterrupted. Missing the forest for the trees kinda deal.

TP wasn’t necessarily a bad system but the problem with TP was that TP needed another party member to sustain it for you while MP was in general self sustaining (shroud of saints for example)

If MP required refresh as much as TP did so that all party members require external assistance then I would be totally okay with TP

I'd argue that relying on others is the very core of playing an MMO. 2.0 had that. 5.0 doesn't really.

If MP also relied on others (ie refresh) then I see no reason why TP needs to be removed

It also made adds phases way more interesting (though they seemed to have dumped adds phases as well)

TP was always useless. You only noticed it existed if DPS was extraordinarily low and you ran out of TP doing AoE (forcing the good players to use TP regen abilities), an Astrologian used their skill speed card on you, or you pressed Sprint. All of which were rare and usually not needed at all. The only times you noticed TP existed it was just annoying that it existed as a punishment for low DPS or using Sprint in battle.

Refreshing eachothers MP was big in the past, where people could give MP to Paladin to spam Holy Spirit before it was nerfed or MP could be shirked to healers for more rez. A stop was put to that so that it was just personal responsibility, to make the whole thing less complicated. But I think that could come back and it would really be fine.

Things like status effects are good in some games, such as old FF games. But they were just never good in this game. They were simply annoying. For example, you fight some enemies. Some of them randomly cast sleep on you or stun you with shield bash. Now you do nothing for 3 seconds. That's just annoying. The enemies aren't even threatening and now your rotation is interrupted so you're bored. The concept of a rotation itself makes this a problem because it disrupts the flow of it, when if abilities are more independent like in old FF games but with some big ones on a long cooldown, then it's more fluid and you don't feel this bigger rotation has been destroyed. However if this were the case, people would say "it's too simple because you press 1 or 2 buttons always".

The main functions of TP in ARR, HW, and StB was to pretty arbitrarily screw over certain jobs whose TP consumption wasn't correctly tuned for their maximum loop-capable GCD length, faintly incentivize almost purely MP- or TP-parties (but never to enough net effect to have impact) and, most importantly, to make it so that TP-users were basically barred from using Sprint and to cripple Skill Speed.

I wouldn't mind having TP back... if it was nothing like its former iteration and every job used both MP and TP but used each differently. Otherwise, no; it was just an awkward anti-fun, anti-customization, anti-balance mechanic.

Trading resources between players is fun. Arbitrarily splitting said resources into color A and color B to arbitrarily keep certain jobs away from those potential interactions? Not so much.

At which point we're better off just fixing MP and using only it if we can't come up with a new function for TP that would actually enhance, rather than constrain, the game through its presence.

EDIT: On the larger topic, I'd love to see more rewards (at least to a seasonal cap on [re]clear bonuses, if not repeatable) for doing content at minimum ilvl, ideally with a further rotated bonus between old odd+even patch cycles (e.g., 2.2+2.3's Raids + Extremes + ARs) just to funnel the playerbase for better queue times.

Don’t think they need to waste resources on a classic version .the only reason wow classic exists is because the wow retail version is complete garbage .we don’t have such problem here
