The servers are dead, we have the same old events and nothing new. How about a Headless Horseman type event in the major capital cities??
Honestly, Yoshi needs to quit telling people to play other games, they all leave, and our FCs pays the price.

They can't even give the Seasonal events we have now interesting rewards. Plus, events like Make-it-Rain, I think should be extended two 4 - 6 weeks. Instead of 2-3 weeks. They probably could benefit from having other events like a double exp month for leveling or something.
You are about to get attacked by all the delusional people saying "the game is in a steadfast growth and it's growing every patch there's more and more people !"
I wish you good luck
but on topic, you are right, new events would be fun, the events we get are just the same thing over and over again from previous years and its completely boring
Would be nice to get the X-bpx players over here. But it's a nice pipe dream.
FCs are in massive need of some kind of pick-me-up. I'm not really sure what can be done anymore though because everyone kind of has their own private FC, so any prize/incentive you give FCs, solo FCs continue to benefit from as well. Gotta tread carefully or you make the desire for a solo-FC/multi-housing even more desirable.
Moogle Tome is a step in the right direction, but we do need more events to live up the place.
Idk about new events but new event locations you cannot tell me you just love love love going to Mih Khettos Ampitheatre every other event for 5 minutes of cutscenes to get Squibbow the Scrungly Wungolus minion.
They could do that thing where you talk to an npc. And then they glow. And the event becomes some instanced area. Like Ishgard. Or Kugane.
Id love a Waltz for the Moon (following the ff8 ref) event like the festival with Gaia and Ryne like they talked about at the end of Eden.
They dance aw it sure is cute but every other major npc in shb is in the crystarium and YOU dear player get to choose a dance partner for the waltz.
Runar, Lyna, The Chais, Magnus, the 3 fanow girls, maybe the Role Quest npcs, Cylva, Feo-Ul ig, just a big selection of potential dancers.
Anything to break up the monotony of constantly being stuck in The Big Three Cities (feat. Costa for summer events).
Would not say the servers are dead, but I agree better events would be a nice boon. Always been a shame that they are never really more then a quest or two then you can just forget about it. Would be nice if they had more reasons to far the event tokens to trade in (And stop putting old rewards on the Storeā¦) or longer narratives. I suppose they do not want FOMO to hit, but still.
I don't think the game needs more events. What it needs is more interaction with the ones it already has.
During Make It Rain they could bring back the removed GATEs on the :10/:30/:50. During All Saints Wake they could add the event dungeon to expert roulette as a change of pace, etc. We need the events to be more than "here's a 5 minute quest, enjoy the housing decorations."
You mean that time I used your own data source to show the game has steadfast growth and is growing every patch and there's more and more people? [EDIT: NOTE: Compared to the same point in the prior expansion]
What part of "Using your own data source" is "delusional?"
.
OP, hyperbole is why nothing is changing.
"The servers are dead" is an absolute lie. You can bring up content lulls, reduced numbers of players during the lull in patch cycles, especially with them being longer and so on. But when your premise is based on a lie, and you overstate your case, it shouldn't surprise you when people call you out and when rational people don't listen.
For example "The servers are dead, we have the same old events and nothing new. How about a Headless Horsman type even tin the major capital cities?? Honestly, Yoshi needs to quit telling people to play other games, they all leave, and our FCs pays the price.";
Instead you could say: "While updated each year with new rewards and new story, the seasonal events are always the same holidays. While that makes sense in real life, it would be neat to see some more events, even at unexpected times. Perhaps some kind of monster attack on one of the capital cities like happened in 1.X would be interesting? New events added from time to time could also be welcome changes, either as one-time events or permanent additions to the rotation."
There's no lie there, no overstating, no hyperbole. Just a simple request said rationally and calmly, and that's actionable and makes sense with the game world and design.
The Valentione event and dress/suit were nice
Mate, you said yesterday that this game has 2M - 4M of currently active players at any given time (if 0.5% = 20K => 4M, if 1% = 20K => 2M). This would make this game most popular game in the world by far.
Please stop speaking about any sort of data, it's not your strong suit.
I disagree with the reason but the outcome of newer event would be a welcome one.
Care to provide a quote of that?
Perhaps you mean this post?
Mate, you shouldn't tell such blatant and easily debunked lies about people.
And in that same thread you said you TOTALLY have sources, but refused to provide them with asked?
Please stop speaking about any sort of data, it's not your strong suit.
EDIT:
Same and agreed.
You were sort of on the right track there. If the feeling is there should be fewer solo FCs, then the reasons for having a solo FC should either be added to the game without requiring a FC, made less desirable or made harder to obtain.
But when it comes to getting players to create or join larger FCs, that's on the individual FCs and the players themselves. Not everyone is after the same thing when it comes to a FC and personality can make a huge difference in how well someone fits in. The game has a huge amount of content available. Is the FC making use of it to keep their members engaged, or does it get ignored because the officers have already done it all and they aren't interested in helping their members complete it? Are the officers not interest in putting some effort into running events whether they're map parties, mount farms, glamour contests, etc.?
And still not every player is going to want to be in a FC. There are reasons why some play alone.
They take place in the 3 starting cities because that allows low level players to participate. They can even participate a little in Moonfire Faire by hanging out with all the other players there even if they aren't a high enough level to do the quests.
Put a seasonal event at the Crystarium and players who haven't started the 5.0 MSQ wouldn't be able to attend. There might be a few other suitable locations in ARR zones for some of the events to give us more variety but I doubt SE will have interest in placing them in later expansion zones.
Here's what I'm refering to:
Theodric pointed out Mare's concurrent users are at 20K, which is true. Then you retorted and said that those 20K are 0.5% to 1% of population. Which brings us to 2M-4M concurrent players, because how could you possibly deduct from this single parameter a number of daily players, or anything else (ignore that 2-4mil is way too much even for daily players).
Just to put this insane number in perspective, CS:GO is at 750K, and DotA 2 at 300K concurrent players.
And I also provided sources in that thread now, hope you're happy.
Edit because of post limit:
Cool, but I wasn't arguing about any of that, don't know how I'm related to it. We already know that players numbers are doing good for a few months now from latest LuckyBanchoo survey, it's nothing new:

Pretty easy to do an analysis when results are already there for you to cross-check.
Are you sure about that?
It just doesn't keep stacking quotes in quotes in quotes when you press the button. For the most part, that's smarter forum design than letting the chain build up.Quote:
really sure?

You just need to insert the second layer manually, to my experience.
Actually, it seems to be his strong suit. He did a rather thorough and accurate analysis in that other thread, proving how even the infamous Steam data shows the game continues growing considerably with each expansion (including EW having a significantly higher population than ShB at each similar patch along the way). Then you get the guy claiming the servers are "dead"...umm...what? During Make It Rain, you could go to the GS virtually any time of the day or night and it was packed. People have been posting how Aether had almost 150 end-game groups going in PF at once, and even one of the non-Aether DC's had around 100 (the majority of which were high-end duties). Heck, now with the new patch the Aether hunt trains have gone back to only announcing them on individual servers instead of DC-wide because of how over-populated and unwieldy they become if the wanderers join.
I think the person mentioning playing chess against pigeons in the other thread has it right...
So I don't really have a strong opinion on whether the servers are full or empty or math and all that, but I do remember back in the day when we had more than the holidays and maybe one crossover event an expansion cycle (possibly hyperbole). It'd be nice to have a few odds and sods events to fill up the gaps, though I understand resources being an issue.

I wouldn't say every server is dead, what has happened that a good chunk of the playerbase would rather RP, afk in Limsa or go to nightclubs.
Its only dead on the gameplay side of things.
I think blaming the issues now just on events is true to an extent but I wouldn't call it the biggest factor.
- Solo FCs are growing in popularity because it's 100x easier than going for a private plot and you also get the added benefit of your own storage chest + money printing via submarines. Only way to fix that is to give everyone some form of instanced housing or for larger FCs to give the same benefits to their members (unlimited submarine access, space in the chest for their items, decoration permissions, etc.) Either way, can't really trump getting your own house for half the effort.
- Aether is sucking up the majority of the population and people are going there to do their content. Only way that can be fixed is if cross-DC is removed or they apply some form of benefit buff to do content on your own server.
- It's no secret that a large population of the game play for the RP/modding aspect. They genuinely just might not have any interest in FC activities if they can just go to a club and party with friends there and show off their mods.
Having better events would help bring people around for a couple days, but ultimately I think we're heading into an era where traditional FCs will become extinct or less popular. It worked a few years ago but I don't think it will continue in current times.
During WoW's Halloween event, the Headless Horseman will sometimes attack some of the low-level towns (I forget if it's on a timer or if someone has to manually start it, it's been a while) by setting buildings on fire and yelling incredibly hammy lines across the zone. This starts a timed event for players to use buckets of water balloons to throw on the fires and put them out while the Horseman lights more fires and taunts you. If you fail, he flies off and the event ends; if you succeed, he comes down to fight, but pretty much always gets instantly killed by high-level players, dropping a pumpkin full of seasonal loot.
The Horseman can also be fought as a seasonal boss in a special version of the Scarlet Monastery dungeon, where he has a very low chance of dropping his mount for players, among other loot.
But it would also be the exact same event year after year. Events did get a shake up in Cataclysm but other than that they didn't change through the end of Legion (when I finally quit WoW so I don't know if they've been changed since). There was always a vocal part of the player base asking for Blizzard to change the events and give them new content because they were getting boring.
The WoW and FFXIV styles each have their pros and cons. WoW events are the same year after year but the activities are more engaging. FFXIV gives us new stories each year and sometimes new activities but they're more basic and not as engaging. Both get boring after time.
I would give the edge to the WoW events though - the rewards would generally return each year so players could farm the event currency to get what they wanted from previous events instead of having to buy them from the cash shop. That tends to keep the interest in the activities going longer, at least among newer players if not veterans.
Can we not go into that again?
in my alts fc we got 13 people and a lott of players out 365 days
They even have a system in place. They could go crazy with the mog event. Add multiple moogle vendors. A moogle mount vendor with reskins of all pvp mounts(don't want them to be the same), all trial mounts from before 6.0, also maybe reskin of certain achievement mounts, and any other mount that wouldn't break the cash shop. A moogle vendor for minion, again leaning towards everything on the table that wouldn't break their cash shop. A moogle for gear. All old fate gear, maybe one new piece, and series sets from PvP. And probably more. Maybe a bicolor gem voucher like we have for mgp. Not very many doing fates. For people upset, no I do not consider anything sacred that is old. PvP or PvE content, yes I had to get to series level whatever for gear, blah blah. Yes I farmed 99 totems for multiple stupid mounts. I don't begrudge anyone getting it from a moogle.
Keep a set few dungeon/raid/pvp. And every week rotate in a new bonus one. So crystal tower is a set amount, but this week Nier is a bonus one worth maybe 1.5 times tomes. This even should run from now till the next patch which is close to when xmas? Get the population back up and people logging in. If people are just logging in they might help with the blue mage group that needs a spell. Or the person that needs a few more totems to get the current trial mount. People will check PF and when server is more active people get more invested. I wouldn't do this multiple times. But we might be looking at two patches in a year almost, depending on announcement for expansion.
I'd say the tomestone event and the achievement certificate system were steps in the right direction only for both to quickly wear thin. They're just not updated often enough and veteran players have likely long since grabbed most of the rewards they wanted from the tomestone events whereas the certificate vendor is rarely updated.
I'd like something closer to World of Warcraft's trading post with new rewards each month. It's not like there's a shortage of potential minions and glamour that could be dangled as rewards cycling in and out over time to deter people missing out.
Praying they drop new achievement cert items in 7.0
Its 7.0.
Maybe plop, say, an EX-SOLDIER Attire pieces on there or a One-Winged Angel set people would so ecstatic (and then they wouldnt need an ff7 raid series or event or god forbid making them mogstation items)
Squat Mashing Contest. Whoever can out button mash their way to victory via their characters doing squats will earn a giant Poroggo mount.
I wish they kept adding stuff to the Gold Saucer. I am convinced that doing so would go a long way in keeping things fresh.
I feel this expansion has been suffering heavily from lack of non-raid endgame content for the masses. I know Eureka (love it) and Bozja (It's okay) get mixed reviews but this expansion has nothing of the sort and it's really affected my engagement. Each update is only providing a few hours of content and there's nothing to grind or keep people busy for the months leading up to the next update. It's been a real drag.
Even hunt trains in Endwalker have sucked.
