Why are some wards not allowing purchase?

Hi, I'm a little bit newer to this game, but I've spent about a year working to save up to buy a large house for my fc. I'm in Raiden, and there are no larges left in my housing area of choice (empyreum), but the newest wards are still empty because no one can bid. Why is that? Why make wards and not let anyone use them? They've been there for ages, I don't get it. Please be patient with me, I looked around and just couldn't find any information

Not sure about Raiden specifically, but is it a new world? I know Dynamis has 6 wards that are being kept empty, the assumption being they’ll open when all the wards have filled up to a certain point. So maybe there’s a similar situation with Raiden?

Well the Population of Dynamis isn't exactly Booming Most people who wanted a house, got a house. The vast majority of our wards are completely undecorated. Especially the FC wards, owned by submarine/airship farmers. Personal wards are frequently losing a giant portion of their houses to auto demolition. I expect that these wards will not be open until 6.5, or 7.0. Don't forget that Dynamis has 4 more worlds pending, assuming the population grows large enough.

SE isn't opening the last 6 wards on any world designated as New for now. They're waiting for the existing population to fill up all available housing and most of the New worlds still have a lot of smalls available. They don't see demand for medium and large plots as sufficient reason to open new wards.

Maybe it's time to finally rework G(hetto)oblet and possibly Empyreum to make it somewhat attractive for buyers.

Some data from Raiden, which is one of the new EU servers:
There is 355 available private houses in Raiden right now, which is still less than your average JP server. Even Tonberry has 500+ available houses.

From those 355 houses:
- 247 are S in Goblet
- 87 are S in Empyreum
- 7 are M or L
- 1 S in Shirogane
- 13 S in Mist and Lavender combined

But wards 25-30 are still closed after half a year for some reason, which is especially confusing since auto demolition has been off for longer than I can remember.

Both Goblet and Empyreum are clearly not deemed good enough by players, which is fair. Maybe if it was reworked to look less like dystopian brutalistic abomination in the middle of the rocky mountains and more like something where you would want to actually live, it would attract more people.

Or they could just stop adding wards to them and just proportionally add more wards in places that people actually like, instead of wasting space on ugly ass Goblet. I think it's really sad when someone's only option is to get S in Goblet.

While Empyreum is pretty popular on my server, I wouldn’t choose to live there or Goblet because it’s all stone with little to no nature features. Mist is mostly marble too… I mean Goblet and Empy have pretty mountain views but that’s about it. Put some more trees and water in there somewhere! Outside of Goblet’s pool and Empy’s hot springs, there’s barely even a fountain anywhere. What LB and Shiro have is lots of natural beauty, to the point where there’s no truly awful plots in those districts.

I doubt at this point that they’ll ever fully redesign the wards, but hopefully they keep preferences in mind when building the next residential district. Lots of people think it will be Old Sharlayan, and it could end up being really nice, but only if they balance out the nature scenery with the marble of the city’s hub. Otherwise it’ll be just another stone city, with little appeal outside of lore reasons.

They're still closed for the reason you detailed - there are still over 300 plots available on Raiden. Players who really want a house are free to choose from what's still available. They could always relocate later if something more to their liking becomes available.

That they aren't taking one of them indicates they aren't really interested in housing and so SE has no reason to open up the additional wards.

Also, Empyreum has been fairly popular on NA worlds even if it isn't on Raiden. Those plots get just about as many bids as plots in any other housing district when available.

When was Empyreum popular? IIRC, Goblet, and Empyreum were the last wards to sell out there mediums/larges on Dynamis when the wards opened, after 3 housing lotteries. Even if you look at them based on small houses, Empyreum is practically abandonned, in some cases arguably even more than the goblet.

LB>Shiro/Mist>Empy>Gob would seem more accurate based on my observations of housing lotteries with the new DC opening/new wards.

People are clearly interested in housing, but clearly not enough to live in ugly ass Goblet. They rather bid on plots with others bidders than to get guaranteed in Goblet.

You also underestimate how much are people informed about relocating, or even it's existence.
Even if they are, you still lose 85% of your original house's price, and not everybody is fine that, even for S costing "just" 4 million.

But reality is that truly dead servers like Saggitarius has 1300+ houses, which is where I would understand not opening wards. So once again, it's SE being lazy and wanting to open wards of all new servers at the same time, instead of doing that based on individual server's need.

Goblet was where I got my first home before I relocated to Shiro, I bid and won my mansion in Goblet because I had bet less people would do so and it was the case, that made losing any bids elsewhere to relocate much easier to swallow. Then a few weeks ago, I won my bid and relocated to my current mansion in Shiro. So yeah, I would get a home in Goblet first if you really want one and then try relocating, much less stress that way.

This seems about right, although personally I find Shiro to be the worst looking district. Neighbors right in your face covering the view or their gate is 1 yalm away from yours, bright yellow or pink details on buildings, bamboo and ugly lamps everywhere. I'd rather go back to the pool area in Goblet.

Regardless, as long as there are several plots available to both FCs and individuals on Dynamis then SE will not be opening the remaining wards. If Dynamis players that do not have a house want to get one, they are better off getting what's available rather than holding out for something better. Once what is available is mostly full, then SE will open the remaining wards so they'll have a chance to get something better.

I don't see why opening wards in new EU servers should be affected by new NA datacenter in any capacity. I get that Dynamis is dead, but new EU servers except Sagittarius are not, and we had auto demolition disabled for a long time, so availability of houses was only decreasing and never increasing.

Theres nothing wrong with liking the goblet, but the numbers always show that its the least popular housing zone by a longshot.

When new wards open, Goblet always has the most houses demolished from people moving out.

It's the last to sell out all of its Small/Med/Large houses.

Back when housing was scarce I personally owned a house in the Goblet, plot 17. The houses by the pools are ok. But a lot of them are in questionable places, either with a poor outside view, or with a gigantic wall behind them, or a neighbour Directly next to you, who can hang furnishings over their fence into your space sometimes. In almost any other ward the houses are seperated enough that this isn't a problem.

In one far corner of my mind, I have a feeling SE will announce 7.0 alongside XBOX joining the fray and the new wards would open when 7.0 launches and XBOX players join us. Dymanis is ripe to handle XBOX players joining when the other four worlds have yet to open. I would not be surprised if SE let XBOX announce 7.0 along with XBOX joining at the Fanfest where Phil Spencer (head of XBOX division at MS) joins Yoshi P on stage to announce XBOX will be joining the game.

It would be a temporary boost to the games population, but I'm unsure if Xbox would bring enough players to fill Dynamis, and warrant both those wards opening up, and Dynamis filling out its last 4 worlds. If they wanted to play FFXIV they'd have done so on PC since the requirements to run FFXIV aren't that high.

Where are you getting the information that this will finally happen? Everything I read makes it sound like it's still copium among Xbox players that SE and Microsoft have managed to come to some sort of agreement that will make it possible.

Not everyone has a PC so the last statement isn't really relevant.

As for how many players it would bring to the game if it happened and whether they would choose to start on Dynamis? Not likely unless SE locks down character creation on all the other NA worlds for launch. Xbox players tend to be competitive and competitive players don't want to be on "dead worlds".

AS for the xbox players coming here, I know this is something yoshi wouldn't mind happening but unless XBOX and Sony kissed and made up after Sony attempts to stop XBOX/MS from acquiring Blizzard/Activision I would not count on it anytime in the near future.

By your own logic, your assumption also isn't really relevant. We're not living in 2006. A laptop at its cheapest could run FFXIV, and it would still be worth less than some of these new consoles that are coming out.

Also, whats with this nonsense about Dynamis being a DC of "Dead Worlds." The whole point of being here is that you can DC travel if needed to do other forms of content. Are these supposedly "Competitive" Xbox players going to care which world they end up on? Not really. The MSQ has duty support if queues do not pop. The only thing they could conceivably miss out on is Ranked PvP. Heres another assumption for you; Xbox players being as "competitive" as we have assumed, will not waste their time on FFXIV ranked PvP, as they'll find its low quality, and not as fun as most other PvP focused games out there. So there goes any reason to dislike starting on Dynamis besides the minor annoyance of having to spend 30 seconds to DC travel.

Dynamis is low population, and it is an OBVIOUS move for them to send all the new players they'd expect to that DC, and they wouldn't know or really care about where they started without having previously researched the game before deciding to play it. If they DID research it, they'll see that preferred worlds get a gigantic experience buff for choosing to play on them. You'd better believe they'll lock down NA servers if an influx of players is expected, as they've done in the past on pretty much every world in Primal/Aether/Crystal.

On your first point - they'd already be playing FF on their cheap laptops if they had them and wanted to be playing the game. We're not talking about how many people would buy a Xbox if FFXIV were released on it. We're talking about how many own a Xbox and would start playing FFXIV if released that aren't already playing the game on a PC. Again not everyone bothers to buy a PC, especially when it comes to games. A large number find consoles more convenient because titles are released to be playable on them as is as opposed to them trying to make their PC match system recommendations for the game. Not everyone cares about having access to mods, which tends to be the only PC advantage when a game is available on all major platforms.

While I personally don't agree that Dynamis is dead (I have characters I actively play there myself), you're blind if you don't see that's the general reputation Dynamis has been given by the community. A large portion of the general gaming community is sensitive to reputation as if they gain or lose status based on the reputation of the game they are playing or the server they are playing on. Think about how long FFXIV lived with that "oh it's a weeb game, no real gamer would play it" reputation in the Western gaming community until WoW tanked in Shadowlands and suddenly content creators were giving it an honest try with their viewers following. The reputation given the data center by the community will impact world choice for those who care about such things. If the Road to 80 is such a strong incentive, why was it being mostly ignored by that massive WoW influx even though world visit was available at the time and initially every NA data center had at least one Preferred world available to choose? No, they wanted to be on the worlds with the 'cool kids".

Even now, there's very strong dislike for data center travel as a way to make having a new world a character's home world despite reassurances from those of us who use it frequently. There's also the fear that data center travel may be temporarily shut down during times of congestion, as the recent Lodestone notice warned players and which is very likely to happen at 7.0 release.

While it's an obvious move to try to funnel all new players to Dynamis for the next expansion launch, that doesn't mean SE will do it. We'll have to wait and see how they handle it when that time comes.

It doesn't pay to discount human nature when trying to predict what decisions they will make. There are patterns that appear among different demographics and some incentives can become more attractive or less attractive when contrasted against other decisions to be made. If FFXIV ever does release a Xbox version, I wouldn't bet on the majority of Xbox players choosing Dynamis over the other data centers unless they have no other choice.

First of all, lets not compare the FFXIV community, to the WoW community.

World of Warcraft was well into a decline, prior to even BFA. Legion brought a few people back, but sub numbers were tanking well before shadowlands. Streamers caused a mass exodus, yes - But how many of those players have stuck around? Not many.

Another point, The wow Exodus happened in Shadowbringers. Dynamis opened in November, 2022 Long after the exodus had stalled, and streamers moved on from FFXIV. This makes me believe you were not present in the WoW community during its final few months before its fall from grace. Lets also make an assumption about the WoW community.

1. It consists of older players, in their 30's and 40's. It's not easy for them to assimilate into the FFXIV community. They were never going to change MMO's, and in my experience they were the ones labeling it the "weeb anime" game.

2. The content players enjoy in WoW, does not exist in an enjoyable format as much as it does in WoW. Late game content in WoW is not similar to FFXIV, Especially when you look at Mythic +, and PvP - Something that FFXIV simply does not offer for the people who enjoy that. Also those orange danger circles? Good luck finding those in WoW, unless you have DBM and weak auras to hold your hand through content. The only people FFXIV retained were the casual WoW players, which did not make up a majority of the games population.

3. "Western Reputation" Do you want to know what WoW is known for? Being a game of elitist, toxic neckbeards. You tell me which is worse. "Weeb anime MMO" or "Toxic Neckbeard MMO", with 8 years of mediocre expansions backing that reputation.

4. Server "Reputation" on WoW was restricted to RP servers, and a few primarily Horde/Alliance dominated server shards. Why? RP servers did not have sharding. Every other server did, there was no seperation between the servers, like we have on FFXIV. EXCEPT on Classic, and Classic Era - Which was not heavily affected by the WoW exodus. The players it lost, were only lost because they did not want to play TBC which launced during the months of controversy.

As for reputation, how often are you mocked for playing on Dynamis? Do people insult you, or look down upon you for being on Dynamis? Don't think so. If it's such an uncool DC to play on... Why did Zepla, and other streamers move their characters to our DC? Reality is, nobody cares about spending 30 seconds to DC travel. It's not that hard to do. If you don't want to do that, make a PF post for the content you want to run. People regularily help out people who do this on our DC. So your point on reputation is completely false. The people mocking Dynamis are liable to get slapped with a support desk ticket if anything, and I guarantee you the WoW players/Xbox players could care less about being on the "Cool servers", especially as first time players.

Goblet was more popular when folks who transferred had a better chance of housing upgrades.
Now getting a house there is just a money sink, in game AND out of game, as you can't take the same breaks you used to.

Those goblet smalls are going to stay empty until folks get really desperate.

Someone passionate about playing the game is going to have both positives and negatives they share about it. No game is perfect. There are always things that can be improved but the player is also going to want to share what they enjoy or at the least does not see as a problem with the game. If they feel there are no positives or those positives are greatly overshadowed by the negatives, there's no reason to stay passionate about playing it.

When all someone posts is negative comments with nothing positive to say, it natural to doubt that they're actually passionate about playing the game. From there, it's a small step to assume they're only interested in hating on it (an assumption that may or may not be true).

While I have my issues with the individual who started this thread, I can agree that the game does tend to overdo certain themes mostly in the smaller subplots. But that player also has had nothing positive to say about the game and likes to attack posters who do say positive things. So are they here because they're passionate about playing the game, or are they here because they're passionate about hating on the game?

Do we need some to follow some regulations of minimal positive things we say, just so we feel like we're legitimate? I'm talking just for myself - I very rarely talk here about things I like. You can check all my 300+ posts, I bet there is not a single praise about this game's music, even though that's one of my most favorite things about the game. I have something positive to say, but I usually won't say it, I don't see a reason. You yourself described it as "at the least does not see as a problem with the game" - why would I start talking about something that I don't see as problem? What would I achieve by that? Would it spark some interesting discussion? Very unlikely. This is why I don't just throw random praises into the void, I don't see a reason. It doesn't mean I passionately hate the game as some seem to think, it's just different mindset and different personality traits.

Maybe you should take a step away from the forums for a bit! Making negative posts and being passive agressive isn't healthy. You were encouraging people to be positive, and now you're getting into silly arguements and degrading people. It's unhealthy behaviour.

Why? Because money. Both in terms of server data savings and of course scarcity promotes subscription slavery. Also, to have those six zones (25 through 30) sitting there visible month after month -- but, no touchie! -- on servers like Phantom or Phoenix is downright insulting.

Look, The Big Man doesn't care about housing, so none of his minions care about it either. That's how JCompanies work. You could see them give up completely caring back when Shadowbringers launched with no new housing zone. Of course nothing with Endwalker and I can guarantee that there will be nothing with Dawntrail. "Oh, maybe we'll increase the decor limit... maybe in the future... blah, blah, blah... " That's as much of a nod as us housing fanatics will ever get. Double guarantee they'll find some way to forget about that flippant half-hearted promise.

Honestly, we're wasting our time talking about it here. No-one from S-E ever reads the forums.
