We died in 2012 and this is Hell, isn’t it?
I can't even begin to comprehend what would cause that to happen, especially when the other meteor did get hit by the LB3...

SMALL INDIE DEV TEAM
Thankfully they always have an army of people to defend their laziness so it's okay
And that's okay.
I'm willing to wait 1 patch per year beacuase FFXIV it's the best game ever made, everything ish perfect and I'll protect devs and yoshi with my life, now if you don't like just unsub.
Sadly you can’t QA everything, far too many variables. People will shit on these devs but for what bugs do slip through the cracks aren’t nothing to others. WoW and New World and I believe even ESO have public test realms where they put their stuff out for the community to run and find bugs etc and even after that stuff is bugged. Not saying this is acceptable but there was something clearly going on there and it’s not the screenshot resident troll caps lock implies. I imagine if it’s a big deal or reoccurring they will probably hotfix it when savage drops.
I’m actually baffled at how active the trolls are for this game like jeez you have shallow lives if every facet of this game must be brought up to ridicule to give you some serotonin. Alas the only reason I want you to stay is because S-E milk you for your alts as is so that’s all good.
And Yoshi-P will say : I thought you wanted harder content
Trolls are active in every game. The moderation team here doesn't work as hard to shut them down as some other games do.
I think you might have hit on why SE doesn't ask the mods to do more with the trolls. They're mostly harmless considering the very low participation in the forums so might as well have the sub income from their multiple accounts.
I would understand some odd, hard to find bug with LB not working and is hard to replicate, but things like Diadochos Sword crash is just neglect of QA. I've found it like 30 minutes after patch went live and crashed my game ~2 hours later when I got curious and right clicked the recipe. You just need to to type "dia" in crafting log and very first 3 results are very ominous looking items without any icons or recipe. Then you just need to click on recipe tree/raw materials list and game crashes instantly.
One would think that they would at least check new recipes that the patch adds.

one could say we need more time between GaiusDrakon posts to even hope for any quality.
3 to 4 months sounds good to me
I said I’m not defending them just merely being reasonable when it comes to game development. You purely can’t test for everything some stuff will slip through the cracks. I didn’t let them off for the housing lotto situation for instance but apparently being reasonable is protecting a company. I mean by all means mom and keep paying because you can disconnect yourself from a fictitious house.
I think people have different meanings of "quality." I've played games that what was lacking was code quality - gamebreaker bugs (dupes), server crashes multiple times per day, moneypresses (buy from an NPC and sell back same item for a profit).
this particular bug IS in the list of known issues from the patch notes:
An issue wherein selecting a Diadochos Sword, opening the subcommand menu, and selecting Recipe Tree will cause the client to hang.
so they ARE aware of it.
You gotta remember who you're dealing with. If you aren't dragging the game through to mud at every single turn when something goes wrong you're the problem.
Jesus I swear people like Stormy have some kink or fetish for negativity or something. Listening to them youd think xiv was like launch Cyberpunk 2077 or Fallout 4
wait people actually believed they were taking more time on patches for quality reasons? EW has kinda been a trainwreck in terms of consistent quality.
That line was corporate speak.
It roughly translates to "the budget for this game has been cut by higher ups at SE so we're not spending as much time on it anymore", but that's not a good marketing tagline.
I'm very (not) saddened that you dont like me not defending the game like you and the others do, I will gladly defend the game when I find it worth defending it, such as people crying about the new bed mount because it's "inappropriate" which is absolutely ridiculous, or regarding the current raid tier which I find pretty decent even in normal difficulty (cant try savage yet), however I am not going to be like you and give them praise for absolutely no reason, sorry not sorry
Also this ^
Trainwreck? I love the forum and this hyperbolic wave some folks are on. Again what would constitute a trainwreck would be something akin to Cyberpunk or Fallout. What we have here is blips, chinks in the armor so to speak. The only big one that's indefensible being the housing issue. But more consistently than not XIVs Quality is damn good, far better than most other MMOs. But thats just my take.
Also I see this cut budget rhetoric all the time now. Is anyone gonna provide tangible proof of this or will folks continue to use this as some sort of point with no basis or backing?
Oh and before some goof says it, "the game itself is the proof". That doesn't cut it bud.
Also, because you aren't worth quoting Stormy. No one said they're upset that you aren't defending the game. Once again twisting peoples words like clockwork. Next people find different reasons to praise something. You may not feel it's worth praise but someone else does. Who are you or anyone to tell someone they shouldn't praise what they feel is praise worthy. Don't yall like to say "the forums are for feedback"? That's negative and positive feedback.
It's funny cause you still have this bs view that I love everything about the game when my post history proves otherwise. Going off post history if I'm the "shill" you coin me as you're the "hater" others have coined you as. You constantly give money to a game you rarely have anything good to say about...if that doesn't spell "brains" I don't know what does
While I have no proof in regards to budget cuts, I feel it is the most likely reason for the extended time in patch cycles. The company (quite likely) is moving people from one project to another(essentially changing the budget for each project involved), rendering teams at less than ideal manpower levels, thus extending the time that is required to work on all assets of the patches. And, as it is a company decision, it definitely isn't the devs fault for any of it. I don't agree with it personally, but since I don't have any power to change their business decisions, I have to live with it(the only way to really change it is for the vast majority of people to speak with their wallets and stop giving them money). And all that speculation comes from personal experience working for a company that cut 30% of the accounting and payroll teams, forcing the remaining people to take on that extra load without taking employee input into account.
Thing is weren't they hiring folks not long ago to work on their teams (I could be misremembering so my apologies if I am). If so I wouldnt think that'd mean budget cutting. If anything I'd say they're just stretched to thin without a budget increase. So more time is needed. Kind of what you said but slightly different in the money aspect.
Ofc I'm not saying they 100% aren't cutting ofc cause I don't know, but I have noticed many improvements in the game itself wether it be QoL or even movement in cutscenes. Alot of this patch was much more dynamic (as far as msq goes). Same for EW as a whole really many more dynamic combat scenes n such.
I'd also imagine some of the blips we've had is due to the new overhaul we're getting in 7.0. I highly doubt we'd be getting that at all if SE was cutting budget for xiv. But again, I'm not in their offices
Maybe if you dont know how to read I have nothing "good" to say about it, I literally just praised the raid tier just today, and also defended SE in regards to the "children bed drama", I have also defended the housing system in the past because in my opinion there is no such thing as a "housing crisis" when thousands of plots are open on Dynamis, its just not a thing.
I just dont say positive things about the things that you find positive, and that's fine, as for your "you arent worth quoting", grow up and stop acting like an absolute child because we disagree
Hold on this is to rich. I have to address it. You start by saying "Maybe if you don't know how to read I have nothing good to say about it". Yet...if YOU knew how to read you'd see I said "you constantly give money to a game you RARELY have anything good to say about". Did you see that? "RARELY", not never or nothing. You either can't read, arent reading or purposely ignoring (to misrepresent what is being said, again common with you). Stuff like this here is why I said you aren't worth quoting but I figured I'd put this out front in center so people can see once again what I'm talking about.
Also rich seeing you say "I just don't say positive things about the things you find positive and thats fine". You've shown NUMEROUS times in the past that it's not "fine". You've labeled many people as white knights and shills for this very thing but now all of a sudden it's "fine". If this is you finally n truly figuring this out then I welcome the growth. But something tells me that wasn't genuine. If anyone is acting like a child it's one throwing around insults and labels based in opinions you don't agree with. Ie you
I love how anyone disagreeing with you is just a "troll" simply because they dont share your opinion
zzz
also just because I can already see you coming "you do the same"
saying "just quit the game if you dont like all of its content" like you all do is the most unconstructive and stupid take someone can have, and yes that is white knighting.
It's literally always the same people ready to defend anything this game does wrong, this isnt the first time in this expansion that things go untested, just like the housing fiasco that resulted in number 0 winning instead of actual players, these things are unacceptable and show an absolute lack of testing (if there is any testing at all, I really dont think there is)
Anyone? Again my post history would say otherwise. For example I've never called someone like Theodric a troll and we disagree on ALOT. Gaius you can CLEALRY tell he is a troll. Again post history says it all. Has little to do with disagreement. In fact just yesterday someone made a post about not liking what we currently have. I didn't call them a troll or anything of the sort. Simply told em I disagree n I hope 7.0 gives them more of what they want
Next I don't simply say just quit if you don't like the content. I say stop funding something that isn't giving you what you want. That goes for anything in life. I don't eat at particular spots of they change things up n I don't like it. I don't play n give money to particular games if I don't like what's going on, Vindictus and Phantasy Star Online 2 being prime example on my end. It's not stupid nor uncontructive. It's realistic. It's so amazing how one can call someone a white knight yet said person has expressed numerous times they have issues with certain aspects of the game.
Oh btw don't think I dont notice you not addressing my longer post from before to you lol
Sadly I'm being called a white knight because I dare to say you can't always test every variable. Like is the LB3 bug easily recreated or does it only do it every now and then...if it cant be recreated consistently then whats saying they tested it like 30 times and it didn't prop up...is it that specific class...that position on the map....did they press X,Y,Z ability before using LB3. QA isn't that straight forward, like I said I won't defend them for the housing lotto issue that was stupid and they got what they deserved there. But it feels like we have so many 'armchair devs' here that think they know every facet of game QA or design. Heck if I was a dev and said yeah this wasn't an easily found bug I bet I would still be called out for being incompetent or something.
Dont worry about stormy, they just like watching streamers run content to confirm their biased 'its boring content' viewpoint while they sit in their house paying month to month. I get putting feedback out there but there isn't feedback anymore its just petty grudges and grievances amongst the users and to be fair...the mods should of clean slate this place a long time ago, yet here we are.
Lmao, I'll be nice and explain to you things once again
Yeah, just like the housing fiasco right ? It couldnt have been prevented at all ? Oh yes it could have, but it wasnt tested, just like this, exact same thing.Quote:
Sadly I'm being called a white knight because I dare to say you can't always test every variable.
I dont watch streamers, that's a first, I have a friend or two showing me their game on discord, but the rest I do myself, I did the raid today, and I personally like it so I will do it more because I find it fun and challenging, as far as I'm aware I have the right to my opinion on if the content is good or not, just like you have the right to have a different one and to disagree, which is fine.Quote:

The fact you really do think I sit in my house all day says more about you than it says about me, I have said multiple times that I go to venues, I hang out with my friends, I also do housing yes, I dont just sit in my house all day being afk there, I also do content when I feel like it's enjoyable, just like this raid tier.
Game's got a couple of bugs, IDGAF. Prob the cleanest game we've ever played otherwise. Damn game's like sitting in an operating room it's so clean, but nothing to do. Too many confirmation buttons yeah, but it ain't jank.
You know what I do care about though? Is them being too scared to innovate and have more complex casual systems BECAUSE of the chance for bugs.
So you know what? Give me more bugs. As long as it's fun.. That's all that matters to me.
Can I be a white knight and a black knight at once? Kinda dual aspects, like Ravana and Bismarck
Maybe he should have melded accuracy materia
