Id say about 500k went towards maintaining FF14, and 99.5m went to FF16
Yeah seems about right
Is this troll post? Mao can't imagine company needing to spendings 100 million Gils on single patch.
Don't be silly, Skiros.
We all know that money got dumped on NFTs -w-
you seem to have gotten square-enix confused with john hammond i dont remember square ever saying they spared no expense for the game, got any links to that?
As I'm getting similar questions so I shall re-post. FF17 is not a RPG game. Could attack with sword subjectively but not an action hitting game either. By incorporating with the concept of connection(NFT), it's totally brand new genre called NFT game(social crypto system).

I could use 15 mil if someone would be so kind
While an obvious troll post, Yoshida did make that statement. Just not necessarily with the context being used here.
Final Fantasy 14 Surpasses 24 Million Players, Becomes Most Profitable Final Fantasy Game In the Series
Quote:
Indeed, Yoshida says Final Fantasy 14 is the most profitable title in the Final Fantasy series. "It's perhaps unbecoming of me to say but in terms of our business, we've been able to achieve great success. Moving forward, we're going to spare no expense with our investments to ensure that this game continues to be one which our players can enjoy."
My god I swear this forum just complains about everything.
Yes EW probably hasn't been as strong as SHB, but some of you are acting like Yoshi P is personally slapping you in the face.
Ironically, it has been. Population explosion, and even if the late-patch "lulls", there's still a significantly higher active playerbase than there was during similar points in ShB. Just have to get outside the negative echo chamber that is a dozen or so sad, bitter regulars on this forum that can't stand the thought of people enjoying the game.
Bruh, Skiros just flushes out people doesnt he. I guess thats bound to happen after 5+ threads a week.
Its taken you THIS LONG to notice that? This lot are NEVER satisfied, no matter what the devs give us. Seriously, they are no one the devs ever need to listen to. Praise the devs, you're a "white knight" along with a suitably silly MASSIVE picture.Quote:

It gets...wearing...after a while.
Past caring, to be honest. If I had the chance, Id meet the devs and thank them for some of the best gameplay I have seen in years.Quote:
I'd be more careful with your choice of words if I were you. Otherwise youll be called a white knight of yoshida worshipper
Look at everything Square Enix published in 2022 and so far in 2023. Then see if you can't figure out where all the money Endwalker made went.
And no, it's not all just Forspoken.
To go one further.....its a very simple answer...how do the invest back into the game...buying and making new data centers for the AU market...expanding the NA/EU/JA worlds and will be doing that again in the summer. Investing money for a visual overhaul of the product. Remaking and streamlining a lot of the beginning to allow for a more consistent new player experience because they need new players to thrive. They can't keep depending on the end game lot because things happen, games come out, real life events or jobs or just no time in general. Just to name a few things...I know this OP is a troll with a very basic mindset and existence but eh it is what it is
Many MMOs die because producers believe that peak subscribership is in the past and they can only retain. And like you said, life happens, new games come out, etc and the game begins its slow death spiral. SE is trying to take steps to bring in new players.
I can't tell you the number of MMOs I've played (EQ1 and onwards) that I tried to go back to and questioned how any new player could ever play this game. Some games I did go back and reroll to get that "new feeling" again. And I didn't get very far since the new player experience in many of these games hadn't changed in a decade - and it shows.
heya I'm still enjoying the game, how y'all doin'?

> New visual experience.
Three more post processing settings in System Settings that was already on ReShade.
>Streamlining
Getting two interns to copy-paste the Duty Support system to new dungeons and tuning it so that the NPCs can survive and doing a mediocre job anyways (try ARF some time).
>New servers
Discounted servers that manage to kick everyone off and is just as unstable as before?
Some of that development time and money went into making this game single player, yet I don’t see anyone getting flak for that
Was about to make a comment but to my surprise, Ive already done so in this thread?
Thats so weird, all these negative threads are starting to blur in these forums that we are now in fact necroing them just to keep our forum content relative.
If this is the stare of the forums, Im moving my business elsewhere. Im sure the WoW forums have more sense than this whack job community and their content.
I'm sure what I'm about to say is a blur since the white Knights might as well be one account.
But if the feedback given here is noted and changes are made to this effect.
Would you and others start to complain because the game gets away from this point?
Changes happen because you need to maintain being loud, that's what happened to this game.
Because it works, the volume needs to increase and people like you need to shut it
It's fine. I'm sure the 200k they put into FFXIV since the end of Endwalker's first content tier was used in the most efficient way possible.
Procedural generation for a video game would likely not be primarily ML-based in this decade. The tech isn't there.
Some parts may be ML-based using generative models like art assets, voice lines etc. But for the most part it would still be human work. For this decade we might mostly see more voiced dialogues. If FF14 survives to 2030 it might be a fully voiced MMO by then.
You and every schmuck in this godforsaken forum are so delusional into thinking more money equals good game.
No amount of cash will fix the issues FFXIV has. What the dev team is lacking is actual talent, not money.
The people that are tired of paying a subscription for a watered down single player game with a chatbox already left. The only people remaining are the people that happily pay monthly for a single player experience and delusional people like me that still believe the game will ever go back to being a multiplayer game *huffs copium*
Are you serious. We all know they spared no expense and development went into failures like Criterion dungeon rewards and island sanctuary.
"Something something metaverse something nft something ohcrap the market's collapsing"
Give it another six months.. a year tops. They'll stop wasting money on that garbage once they realize (as everyone else but them has) that there's only like 3 people still buying NFTs and that nobody else cares. Ubisoft's Quartz are dead, Meta is pivoting away from Web3, Instagram is terminating their NFT support, Disney and MS closed their metaverse divisions. It's just sad that money's being wasted right now on it, but egh...
