Since Magitek Mount has been basically confirmed...

...do you think it'll be able to perform offensive abilities such as Magitek Missile? Since chocobos will be used for combative purposes, why not Magitek? It might be interesting, but I'm not sure how they'd make it balance well in an mmo.

Maybe it might be like if being in the magitek armor wasn't as strong as being your class, (Since if it was, I doubt many people would get off of theirs) and used for successful traveling purposes mostly? For example, a Magitek missile could temporarily stun an enemy that agros you when you just want to explore, allowing you to escape...but the stun would have a cool down.

What type of things do you think the armor should do? Do you think it should just be for show/travel?

Also, how would you like to obtain it? To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with how easy Goobue was to obtain. At the very least a little more lore behind how the guy came to accessing the horn, along with cutscenes, and perhaps a battle with a goobue nm or something oppressing goobue's or something would have made it more worth it and interesting to me.

A quest, or perhaps a series of quests involving Garleans or collecting parts of the magitek armor would, in my opinion, make the Magitek mount more fun to obtain. Perhaps it ends up being a piece of technology that you take from them? OR something you build yourself if Engineer becomes available?

What do you think? Has anything else been confirmed? I'm a bit behind on some of the information. But I really hope it's not just another *talk to npc, he gives it to you* type deal.

And as I said in the beginning, it might be nice to have a few perks to it as well. Though, honestly, I don't want my magitek armor to be able to jump even with jump being added to the game.

Also, it'd be cool to see variances with Magitek mounts if you're able to make them yourself. Such as gun accessories, jet packs (if jump is to be used), drill arms (Though they'd probably just be for show or offensive purposes if you're able to attack with them), etc.

Perhaps the accessories and stuff that becomes available only after achieving certain GC rank or (as I said, IF Engineer is added) Engineer level. But if you dont want to level engineer, maybe you could pay or get someone who IS leveling engineer to upgrade it for you.

But this is all just my opinion and ideas. :p I'd love to hear yours.

I forsee potential with implementing machinary for players to use and not just NPC based.

A new class, Engineer, as a crafter rather than a battle class - A class that focuses on making things like bullets, bombs, rifles and crossbows (Musketeer is basically confirmed, for a later date, no?) Need something to make the weapons for it afterall, it could be lumped into Blacksmith sure..

But the Engineers could be the one's who help supply the weaponry for normal use and, at a later stage, Magitek weaponry for use in the Magitek mount. Cid could infact be the one who you seek out for the AF quests in this regard, if they ever gave him a specific area to exist in after the game goes 2.0

So, weaponry would be nice, missles and such to be used against monsters you come across. Nothing too outrageous, but still something nice.

Particular areas that can only be safely traversed while mobile in the Magitek mount would be nice, give you a reason to use it, rather than just a novelty item such as the Goobbue mount is.

Though, on that same note, it would be nice if - while on the Goobbue - monsters that werent as tall as the Goobbue itself couldnt actually aggro and attack you would on it. Since they'd need to hit you ontop of it and unless they change it, what even attacks Goobbues.. nothing! Slightly derailed, my apologizes.

But yes.. Magitek weaponry would be nice.

After 2.0 It might be: "I wanted to add it, but we could not find a way to do it gracefully enough so it was dropped. Maybe in the future".

Why even bother saying that, really? Does it hurt to speculate, or hope, that a piece from a much beloved previous FF could make its way into our world now?

I like the way Yoshida is implementing stuff directly from other FF games. I always wondered why they never really did much of this in XI.

I think what Tanaka wanted to do with XI was create a brand new idenity out of it, within the same brand name and universe, similiar themes and such, but a stand alone as every other game was without any direct reference to a previous title specifically. Whereas Yoshida is doing something similiar, giving it a new world, new storylines and characters, but paying tribute towards certain elements of previous titles that made the title as a whole stand out. Which I'm loving, it means there is potential for a lot of things to arise in time, such as the Gold Saucer for instance.

And honestly, never really paid much attention to the producers of XI, if Tanaka was the head director in the beginning of XI or not I dont know. May have been someone else?

To manage expectations: If everyone hears 'Yoshi thinks its a good/interesting idea' and translate it to 'it will be in!' and then finds out its not in, there will be endless sadness as expectations were unjustifiably high.

Many already have high expectations based on what is confirmed, I don't think its fair to hype it up even more ; ;

It's been basically confirmed...just not as a player mount. Though I see it becoming a mount as rather plausible with this evidence. Especially with the editors showing that they are working on possibly implementing alternate mounts.

Ah, yes, I see your point - however. Beyond player polls, which are a good thing of course, if the reps continue to see a particular line of thought coming from the player base, a particular thing that they are hyped up and can get behind, this eventually does make its way up through the chains. As reps of Yoshi-P's team, they're here to both communicate from the development team but also confer player feedback on the good and the bad, otherwise they would just leave all communication to whatever is posted on the lodestone or respective community sites themselves per interviews and leave everyone else out of it.

Not saying everything that players want players will get, they cannot cater to every person on their every wish and desire. But as they already have the concept art drawn and the idea itself is implemented beyond mere concept, since the magitek was included in the first trailer, which is to say, already made itself into a physical form they can reuse whenever they want. Then whats the harm in speculating the 'what ifs'? There is none, if it was something like.. We want to all ride Leviathan! And they haven't even made the slightest approach to that subject, even to the point of drawing up a concept piece for it, that's one thing. But the design is there, now they just need to bring it to players themselves, rather than leave it as an NPC model. So no over hyped ideas here, all very realistic ideas that may need some more player based encouragement to see it become a reality. :)

I would find it fun if there were more mount types (especially nice ones) like a Magitek. Especially if it could be used in combat. Especially especially if it would fire its weapons every time I /smile

I think the Magitek "mount" / vehicle option is for the "Large Scale" PvP battles.

Though, calling it PvP seems wierd since obviously at this point we cannot join any opposing forces.
(or whatever plans they have for PvP in general)

Maybe the inspirtaion comes from WoW battlegrounds etc,
where vehicles in general takes on a simmilar role to defence & offense. (wich is cool with me)

I am pretty sure I remember reading that they are planning Magitek armor will have use in certain areas for siege type battles, it sounded like we might be using the Magitek we acquire to fight Garlean Magitek.

I am sure they want to strike a fine balance. If we can all use our Magitek all the time, that will cheapen the feel of it. Just imagine every PvE party, everyone mounts up on their Magitek armor and that is all you see everywhere. That would be pretty lame. Lol. As for a general mount, still not sure about that...

I would personally prefer if they kept it for massive, epic siege type events. Giant robots fighting giant robots on a war-torn battlefield, maybe trying to break into a Garlean stronghold for example. Missiles flying over your head, scraps of destroyed Magitek armor scattered everywhere... that sounds truly epic to me!

There's a way to maintain balance with a Magitek Armor. Of course it needs to be stronger that you basic choboco (Although some chocobos were pretty overpowered, damn choco-meteor), but if you can fight with your chocobo side by side, you have to ride your magitek armor.

So you're not playing your class, and not fighting with your mount. That way, even DoL/DoH could solo several quests or missions.

Because the Magitek mount is the same one as the FF6 Magitek Armor, it will be the best mount/armor ever.
With or without combat ability. I swear, once I get my hands on it, my chocobo and gobbue are goners.

That said, if it were to have actual combat abilities -- a purpose other than simply walking around like the goobbue -- this mount/armor would so epic that it would become the best content of FFXIV for years to come.

In short, we need Magitek Armors designed after FF6 one's and that can be used in fights. :D

It may be something similar to how you can upgrade your Chocobo with differend Barding etc...except with Missiles and Sharks with Lasers on their heads etc...It will cost seals or w/e they come out with in 2.0

I'd like two variations. The ones you can ride in the open world as mounts, and the ones you get to use for boss encounters involving vehicles. I would love at least one boss encounter someday that involves magitek armor and other vehicles. >.>
