Limited jobs do nothing but deny long standing Final Fantasy classics along with key MMORPG archtypes a place in the normal job roster. Blue Mage being turned into a pathetic minigame was enough of an insult. The last thing we need is for Beastmaster - otherwise known as a Hunter or Ranger in most other games where they can play with everyone else - to suffer the same fate.
It was a failed experiment that only sees brief bursts of activity at the end of a patch with the Moogle event. The last thing we need is for the game to set more money on fire by making more of them.
I would prefer full jobs instead of limited jobs.
Ya'll keep on asking this and BST is gonna turn into a horrid Pokemon minigame lmao.
well the problem is that people will keep complaining about how limited it is and blame SE for wasting that development budget just to make the job limited
imho, i would love to see more jobs like blue mage
Considering they are not going to use any past Jobs from the series for new normal Jobs, having them as Limited is a great way to have extended side content. Despite the fact that Blue Mage got hate from part of community, I prefer it being Limited Job.
I would however love to see them lift some limits from queuing in duties with BLU, if nothing else then at least with full premade parties.
I would love more full jobs and conversion of blue to a full job.
Give us BST as in ffxi please, and a true dedicated dd only archer ..a potent glass cannon please.
No thanks. The way Blue Mage was butchered still feels like wasted development time & resources. This is sub to play game, a limited job just feels like less content, bloated with time caps to stretch out content.
Please no. I despise the concept of limited jobs with a passion and it feels like a slap in the face to fans of said jobs. If you want those minigame situations like BLU just... add them onto a full job, cuz boy let me tell you does it feel worse not being able to do relevant content as BLU than having a special minigame (imo of course). I would straight up trade the Blue Carnival or whatever it's called just for BLU to be a real job.
God no more of this trash. You want jobs that are not part of the game go play a different game.
With current design philosophy any new "real" Jobs are just gonna end up being part of the 2 minute meme meta anyway.
People are mixed about Limited Jobs. Some love it and others hate it with equal measure. I personally don't care for BLU and won't use it however if OTHER people like it and are asking for it...if enough to justify it then why not?
Just cause I personally don't care for it doesn't mean it shouldn't be a thing.
Full job blu would have be far more limiting and miserable. A truely failed comparison to a FF classic, you know damn well the skills would be obtained via lv and tuned to the boring 2min meta just to keep the "balance." Its one if the reasons folks like Blu, cause you dont deal with their cracked balance changes, so Im 100% on more jobs like Blu please!
Blue Mage as a full job wouldn't really be Blue Mage. As it would need to have a set selection of spells they learn as they level, no learning spells from enemies or anything, they would be just a minor variation of Black Mage.
The Limited Job system was more designed for them to just go silly with ideas that don't need to be balanced or anything. They can have classes that can completely exist outside of the "meta".
I do however think they should allow Blue Mage to reach the regular max level, but keep the restriction that they can't enter random groups with the Duty Finder and to stop people from cheesing Raids and Trials with BLUs make them not drop any loot if there are any BLUs in the party.
So they can throw it on the back burner and forget about it until they feel like doing something with it? No thanks, we have plenty of that already.
My argument is, a full-job can potentially have whatever mini-games the devs want, like BLU's mini-game, but limited jobs can't do what full jobs can until years after it's relevant. I understand the concept of "I'm happy someone can enjoy this", but I think limited jobs are objectively a bad idea and concept.
I mean, it's on Square to design it in such a way that it carries the soul of blue mage. Look at FF11, isn't blue mage there super versatile and what people wanted?
I'd be fine with it IF limited jobs had a toggle so I could play as a normal one and then switch back to mini game mode. That way we could tag on more stuff to existing jobs as well. BRD already has playing music. I'm sure other jobs could have thematically appropriate ones too.
I feel like people need to understand that things can change and work outside the box rather than blindly follow what the prior versions of the Job did verbatim.
AKA: We don't need BLU to work as it did in FF5 for it to work in FF14.
The most egregious aspect for me is the insistance on the Learn mechanic. Because that's not the only one major component to BLU; its identity is simply using skills your enemy uses. And we gain those skills in varied ways across the franchise.
Sticking to the original design of the Job means DRK needs to constantly deplete its HP, and RDM can cast far more spells than what it can cast. Same as BLM, who is capable of doing far more than fire, ice, a bit of sparks and summon meteors.
But it's not entirely hypocritical. Because I understand BLU at its core is more complex than straightforward jobs, and that sort of design would need to be rethought for FF14.
But just because it'd be different, it doesn't mean it'd be impossible. There are aspects about its design we could sacrifice to actively have it as a non-limited job, fully functional and just as fun as any other.
that would make sense if people wouldn't toss around the whole wasted dev time til it sticks.
I know some won't, but others will.
[not like that point works rn, since they are reduced with XVI work.]
me personally I'm fine with limited jobs existing.
and I want them to flesh out ideas for them, like an exploration zone for different PVP, BLU, ETC skills could work out.
the only time I've felt any displeasure in their presence is when they used their limited status(and the shunning by supporters, reformers, and opposition) as reasons to deny people in grinds that ALL Classes can Partake in.<doesn't include mogtomes, as those formed for it>(but largely Event fates of any kind, Relics-Crossover-Etc. or dungeon relic grinds for memories.)
For all who think limited jobs are a waste of time, so would a full job of Blu and Beast.
There are many things the game can improve on, many minor and qol that get constantly crossed out as reducing the time devs have on other content. When it either takes less time, or the results are worth while.
I'd rather have the class live to its identity if it's limited, that match their efforts in balance(which we all enjoy, and criticize to varying degrees, in response to their results)
If minor changes, and larger changes are a waste of time, the all of it is. Including the ones pertinent to story and customization.
What can only be done if we do not ask, or get a response to their viewpoint/future goals for limited jobs.
Is to ask for more content they can partake in.
or is everyone going to start using any other kind of point that is only made to keep quiet cause it has no way to respond in conversation, but with action.
So you want a blue mage that's powerful and fun to play sometimes, but perfectly balanced and able to go into dungeons with the normal que at others?
So you want twice as much dev time as any other class, AND the impossible.
So, you want there to never be any limited classes, because this will never happen.
Bluemage is awesome and I cant wait to see them expand on it even more.
Its fresh new and Diverse content, and its the Team daring to try something new.
On the Flip side...I dont think they should do any more
Because as much as I love how they did Bluemage, I dont think they will create anything lasting for another Limited Job.
Although it would be interesting if they make it Grind Friendly so we could pair it up with Bluemage for Moogletrove content. But thats very niche.
tbh I only had a few things with BLU that kinda annoyed me.
1. It having a lower level cap. I'd rather it cap the same as everything else.
2. It not being able to queue into things that don't have role restrictions by default such as Eureka and Bozja. Bozja more just because I want to spam choco meteor on red comet... >.>
3. "weapon" being a wasted gear slot. It didn't need to be a raw stat stick or a full catalog comparable to all other weapons. But atleast they could have added craftable ones using material drops from all the trials and raids released and had said crafted sticks provide bonuses to specific skills/elements/spell families based on what boss it came from.
I would be all for additional limited jobs as a way to get jobs into FFXIV that reallly wouldn't be able to fit into the role trinity while keeping it's identity.
How about instead of a limited job side activity, they actually expand on Chocobo Racing further and give us an actual Career Mode
Edit: in a less shitposty way - expand and iterate on what we have so that it's not just abandonware before we consider adding new.
Most jobs are limited already. Just go play Sum and enjoy
I never said 'perfectly balanced', though. If anything the whole balance thing is making the game worse. I said so many times. Also, unless you are s game designer you don't get to make those claims, sorry.
All I'm saying, personally, is that I wouldn't mind seeing such a system and it would give some much needed job flavour back that's more than just different particle effects. Now the actual designers need to figure it out (or don't).
Make Jobs that are limited in access to only Ultimate raiders or Top PvP players just to see the reactions.
Limited job for top PvP players and Ultimate raiders... then stick it in their butt and make it the Gadabout class from the Dragon Quest series that is pretty much a joke/troll class that is mostly useless and doesn't even follow player command input half the time :P
Calculator would be a good fit. I don't see how they could ever make it a normal job or otherwise put it in the game(beyond you RP calculators out there!) other than as a limited job within its own special framework .
I think the concept of limited jobs is fine as far as side content goes.
However blue mage was clearly a poor design decision that still lacks support or much incentive to play outside of niche savage content.
If they want to make more limited jobs then fix BLU first imo.
If they gave us a separate Limited Job Roulette option, and let them into Deep Dungeons (with their own leaderboards or whatever, or just list it per job) then I'd say Limited Jobs would definitely be worth expanding.
But the way they've given BLU it's own personal line of content in the Carnivale, I don't see it working. If they could somehow fit other LTD jobs into the Masked Carnivale to double up on that content it might work.
But for me personally, the carnivale was the worst part of BLU. The best bits were A. learning the skills and B. doing old savages.
Deep Dungeons is basically the one thing left I'd want to use BLU for.
If the stars align and they do exactly that, roulette and deep dungeon access, then I'd be 100% on board with a limited job class in each role.
I think Onion Knight would be a cool tank class, and Beast Tamer would be a neat phys DPS or healer/support.
imo give us whatever- full jobs or limited jobs- as long as they are fun.
I'm not against limited job out of principle, trying to have a balanced and streamlined roster of jobs is just at odds with some of the whackier jobs the franchise has come up with over the years. The issue is when it's too much on the backburner. I like that BLU exists in the game. Blue carnival is well made content for what BLU should be in my opinion and it does a great job one shotting unsync'd EX trials for WT.
