So with the new ruby weapons released to be crafted. Why did RPR and SGE get jilted in this?
It seems like their plan is to leave old jobs in the dust when it comes to past expansion glamours like this. When they reach Endwalker weapons (probably after they released crafted Diamond Weapons) they will start seeing them. For what it's worth, I understand the pain. This was GNB and DNC throughout the entirety of Shadowbringers. I grew increasingly more tilted as the patches came out and we got nothing. There's very little I wouldn't give even now for a crafted Suzaku gunblade.
Real question is why did we only get Ruby? 5.3 gave 3 new upgrades, now 6.3 we're lacking Emerald and Light weapons. Would really like to see faster pace in these.
SE just doesn't have the resources to spend on things like this unfortunately. Small indie company please understand.
Please understand, they are barely scrapping by with another FF on the way with their only CBUIII team(obv joke, since they don't have alot at hand, and don't mean no insult)
There is so much potential they could offer players.
Even making new Relics for old expansions would be nice too.[at this point I can hope that 7.0 opens the gates]
Even more reason to improve past content and offer more sinks.
But all in all, can only hope that the threads that cover every Lil topic eventually get implemented.
Relics for jobs released after the questlines were added might be a stretch since a lot of them are fairly unique appearance wise. However in regards to crafted trials weapons I feel like this should be a lot easier since the visual aesthetic has already been established.
they're butt ugly so we're not really missing much. i'd love to get a wol scythe though

I, for one, love the GNB weapon.
They made this batch of weapons 2 years ago. As they've shown already, there's nothing for new jobs unless there's an ultimate on the way. :)
They really should update any trial level 70+ (starting level of sage and reaper) with weapons for those jobs.
It would take a graphical artist a few hours at most to throw together a weapon and apply the glow.
One person, could within a week, throw together enough assets to give sage/reaper a craftable weapon from every trial in the game.
You and others might consider reading this latest dev blog entry. There's more to item creation than just throwing together an asset.
I don't care for what happens behind the scenes in item creation, what steps it takes or what team is responsible. They designed, released Reaper and Sage, promoted the new jobs in Endwalker and designed multiple glamours that barely anyone is interested in. Especially for Reaper the costumes are still aimed towards Dragoon design, barely fits the job description at all. It's time to stop making excuses or defend their lazy choices to keep excluding new jobs from older trial weapons. They added Ultima Sage and Reaper weapons, so what excuse is there to keep shafting the jobs?
Speaking as someone who is currently going to college for 3D design, has experience working in Blender, MD, 3ds Max and has created content for games such as Sansar (pre-rebrand to what it is now) and the Sims, it really depends on a few things:
- Who is working on the task in question (is it one person? multiple?)
- The skill level of whoever is working on the task + their ability to work efficiently/quickly. One having a high level of skill and artistic ability does not always equal having a high level of efficiency or speed. Some companies are willing to sacrifice speed for an amazing artist, it really just depends on the mentality.
- What needs to be created? (Is it something simple with not a lot of intricate detail or is it something that requires a lot of detail?)
- Does a texture need to be made from scratch or are they working with premades?
- Does the object in question need any animation work? (For example, the Byakko weapons have the black paint like strokes that constantly move around it.)
- Does the object need any cleaning up? (I.e. are there any holes or weird mesh issues occuring, weights issues, etc.)
There's also matters of perfection that some artists have and won't consider a piece completed until it meets their own standards. Once it's done, then it has to be fit to the character model and work properly with the existing animations in game (our skills or poses if we're talking about a weapon). If there are issues, then they have to go back in and fix those.
It's not as simple as a process as it might seem and could take more than a day to get one weapon working properly. When I was creating my content for the Sims (specifically relating to hair and clothing retextures) it could take half a day or more to get multiple swatches made with needing to make them, test in game and then make changes if it doesnt look right..and that's just texture work. Sansar is where I made actual clothing pieces would take even longer because I'd be creating the model from scratch and then have to rig it to the character model, texture it and then make fixes based on how it goes on import.
Ngl this is making me want to get back into making CC lol.
Also I can provide links to my content if anyone wants proof.
You should care for what happens behind the scenes because it actually answers the question of why those jobs are "getting shafted". You're ironically being lazy by calling them lazy and not taking the time to educate yourself on the process. It's not perfect and it would be nice if they could fill in the blanks for all the jobs, but it's not feasible in the foreseeable future. I did the math on this when the Titania EX weapons came out and the same fuss was going on. It's a backlog of hundreds of items.
How they handle Ultimates isn't all that different. They provide weapons for the current jobs and that's the end of it. You're not going to go back to TEA and find Sage / Reaper weapons. It's unfortunate, but you can't protest every little thing and expect results. The team has to keep moving forward.
If it is because of this or that what I would love is an entire remake of the engine and game itself it's 2023 and no new outstanding improvements in game honestly. I wouldn't even care if they had the game go offline for a year or 2 if it meant really giving this game a much needed facelift, more QoL changes, UI improvement ( I have a 2k monitor and have my game to meet 2k but certain text are so big it runs off screen and no way to fix it.) Plus take player feedback in what constitutes a fair grind vs a mundane grind.( 99 EX fights vs 50 EX fights, no weekly tome cap, no half a year to get a full set of gear for one class) So much is needed in this game and it sucks that when new content comes out like crafting weapons they forget the new jobs all the time. Character customization is very lacking as well. Not much in face design or even hair design. Just some ideas
That's easier said than done. They already took a big risk shutting down the first time around and it's only really paid off in more recent years. Another break is going to cost a lot more, so you'll have to bear with them as they work on different improvements. We have a graphical update coming in 7.0 next year. We've seen a number of different improvements and features added over the last year.
Try not to take it too personally, but maybe you're the one that needs to take a lengthy break if you're really not enjoying things as they are now. Change can only happen so quickly.
You might not care if "the game goes offline for a year or 2" and i won't debate your opinion, however I wouldn't be surprised that should a game decide to go on hiatus for 2 years, then a significant potion of the community would simply never return, no matter how good the changes were.
It's more likely that the game producer would make smaller changes to the existing game while having a roadmap in mind, likely a completely new FF game with a new engine and other factors that could support your requests and many other issues that people have been asking for -such as housing improvements . That seems to be the approach with FFXIV, that also allows for not imposing potentially costly hardware upgrades on what SE has likely analyzed on to be a significant portion of the customer base, especially during the past couple of years.
I'm confused what profit has to do with my post? I explained the process of making a model and why it's not just something simple. Having loads of cash doesn't make that process any shorter, especially in a large company where there are lengthy approval processes that slow up progress (on top of the efficiency of the designers/modelers).
This is how the forum chad brain works. Money solves everything. To talk sense around here is to make excuses and to white knight for SE. The safest bet is just to ignore anyone that throws out the term "small indie" like that. By their logic, if the modders can have something ready hours after a patch, then SE must be lazy.
Back to the real talk:
Another thing we touched on in a previous thread was the fact that a lot of graphical work gets outsourced, which means a lengthier process with contracts and deadlines.
Thing is, there's no time limit on the crafted primal weapons. We don't know when they're coming, we have no expectations, they just appear unannounced in random patches. Hell mid-SB to ShB we got nothing at all, over a year with no glowy weapons, so they can clearly redefine their priorities.
Which is why I don't buy this. They don't have a deadline, take the extra month or two and give them to us in the 6.35 patch instead.
"Maybe upper management gave them the deadline"? Then that is who I'm addressing this to, the decision makers, not the workers.
Options are coming through on a regular basis and there have been two bonus sets with the two ultimates we've had here. Stop acting like a victim of neglect.
Assets have been outsourced, but they still have to go through the process of creating the final items in house, but like I mentioned earlier, this is a set that was produced a whole two years ago, when they likely didn't even know what the next jobs would be. The same thing happened back in ShB with GNB and DNC and it's likely going to happen with the next new job(s) in 7.0.
They created two Omega weapons for RPR and SGE so I'm not buying the excuse that don't have time. This was just a repeat of an awful design choice.
they created the two additional omega weapons because of that bew content coming out shortly.
and yes you can bring in more wofkers for more money but its not like good workers are everywhere. there is a shortage of skilled pwople out there
It's different when they're working on full-on glowy weapons for everyone in current content. The base weapon asset is already being created by this process, so it's not that hard to drop the simpler versions in the lower tiers.
