Mouse keyboard unfair advantage p8s door boss.

Yes, I know mouse and keyboard is master race on this game and controller is a feature on pc. However, exploits like on p8s wiggling camera on mouse keyboard and be able gcd without having the character looking on the boss is unfair for controller players. I do not know if it was intended to be this way or netcode strikes again. I strongly advice to add as feature on controller or patch it up mouse keyboard.

I simultaneously think this is an exploit and should be fixed, but also do not care in the slightest. This is an extremely niche trick, for a handful of fights that use the eye mech, that only the hardest of try hards will try to do for extra DPS.

I mean, this is the equivalent of button mashing.

This isn't even exclusive to M+kb. On top of that, I'm pretty sure KB+M players can't even do this if they're on legacy (not 100% sure on this though); this effect is caused by how the player rotation is matched to always face the camera in Standard whenever a camera movement occurs. Gamepad players can do the exact same thing by using standard and wiggling the right control stick left and right rapidly, since it emulates the 'do GCD, camera movement causes character rotation to instantly snap them away from looking at boss' effect.

Now, it is very cumbersome to do on controller since you need some good finger acrobatics to do it, or some people might dislike playing on standard, but the point is its possible.

To My knowledge works with sidestepping & forward running.

This isn't an exploit. They're just wiggling their mouse to continuously update the facing of the character, which lowers the chance they'll be facing inward on the frame that the gaze goes off. The way their GCD lines up with the gaze is much more important than the wiggling, as they can still be gazed if it lines up exactly with the gaze going off.

I agree, SE should ban all keyboard/mouse users.

you can do it on legacy too, just face camera away from boss, hold down rmb and spam A and D (or whatever you have as strafe left/right).

That's not an exploit, that's just an upside of using a mouse and keyboard. They sound like they're the same thing when you stretch the definitions a bit, but they're not.

The analogy I've used before is to point to two imaginary players, one who lives close to the NA servers and another who lives in, like, Brazil. The person who lives close to the servers is going to have way better ping, and thus be able to react to mechanics with less chance of wonky snapshotting, and will be able to double-weave more reliably.

Is it unfair? Sure; it sucks that one person will not be fighting the game's vaguely-cursed netcode—or, at least, will be fighting with it less—while the other has to struggle with terrible ping.

But is it cheating, or an exploit? No.

Unless theres something in that video im missing. You can do that on controller. You don't even need to wiggle that much. The only difference on the controller you don't need camera. Legacy movement points your character the direction of the left stick so can just wiggle that and dodge gaze attacks without breaking your gcds its something I've done for years even as far back as old mortal gaze in world of darkness. There's also an option in settings you can disable. "Autimatically face target when executing action" or something along those lines..

Mouse and keyboards are third parties unless if you bought them from SE kappa

If anyone is foolish enough to go into savage with this turned off you should be aware that this option exists because you need to be in a set position for your GCDs to work, so it simply puts you in that position automatically.
If you turn it off you're gonna have to manually face the boss or lock on every time you wanna use an ability or it won't go off.

If i recall although I may be wrong. That was changed a long time back when they made it so even auto attacks wouldn't care what direction you were facing.

It's not an option I use though so I don't know the specifics just aware the option exists.

Auto attacks were changed but actions were not, otherwise there'd be no reason for the option to exist and be on by default.
Trust me, I accidentally turned it off around Shadowbringers time and it drove me insane trying to figure out why half my GCDs weren't going off :p

Last I tried it it seemed to work, but it's been awhile. Even saw a video on it.

Achievable by making left/right Strafe and using legacy controls with Auto-face Character enabled.

Can do it on both KBM and Controller.

It's what I do for every eye mechanic, this does however not work for casters like BLM since you can't turn your character without moving on legacy controls.

you can actually, it's pretty RNG based though since you need the end of your cast and the gaze to not line up
1/2. go into first person mode
1/2. start a cast
3. turn around
4. turn back around after the gaze goes off
from what I've tested, if you don't turn back to face the enemy before your cast goes off then there's like a 50% chance it gets interrupted

p.s I've only tested it on these 2 adds in Emenation, but what are chances their Gaze works differently than others

Honestly considering how much harder it is to play I'm not even salty about any advantages MKB get.

If you place your self correctly for Snake 1 you can literraly attack the boss while the snake are going out. That's because you can only be petrified if your "front" is touched by it, which means you can take this on your side and not be hit. You don't even have to show your back completely.

So People who are just crying over an exploit, well... Place yourself better and you'll be able to just cheese mecanics like that too.

I have no idea for Snake 2 tho, because this seems to be harder, but, maybe increase the rotation speed ?

So far as I know, your 'field of view' (for purposes of sight mechanics) is a 90-degree cone directly in front of you; if you draw a line straight outwards in the direction you're facing, anything in a 45-degree arc left of that line and anything in a 45-degree arc right of that line is 'visible' to you. I made a thread on this a while ago, if the terrible lock-on system got fixed then controller would have no problem wiggling like keyboard does, along with a few other features they could possible add. Really though this isn't that big of a deal for P8S, you don't even need to wiggle to keep uptime on the petrify mechanics, the main part where it's annoying on controller is Gorgon 2, but part of that is because of the awful strat NA landed on for it

That said wiggling is not an exploit, if it was I'm sure it'd have been removed a long time ago, and taking away gameplay styles from other people when they're not doing anything wrong is quite silly, I would not advocate for that at all. Personally as I play on Steam, I just have A and D mapped to Strafe keys and I have my analog stick mapped to WASD so I can wiggle with no issues at all. Really, the simplest solution would be to just add a text command to swap between Standard/Legacy controls, so controller players could have a macro to strafe on the fly by just swapping to Standard, then swapping back to Legacy when they don't need to Strafe anymore
