Viera For The Win~ 27.3%

This isn't gonna end well.

I hate the FFXIV community sometimes.

So we might be getting Mammalian demi-beastmen...but everyone should keep in mind that this doesn't necessarily mean Viera for sure.

You know that Viera was used as an example of what a 'mammalian demi-beastman race' is, right?

And that the question itself wasn't "do you want Viera?"

And that the answer doesn't mean that Viera will literally be implemented?

There's enough doujins and fanart of this already, SE doesn't need to encourage them. XIV needs more manly races and less cat boys and playboy bunny girls.

I don't care if it isn't a Viera but...

If it doesn't have ears like a bunny and isn't a girl then I don't want it.

No I meant in terms of races, predictable choice by the community.

What will really be key is if they get the voices right for them.

Don't want them to go the slutty route though... its far too pedestrian and an absurdly easy-target when designing bunny-girls. (leave that cheap crap to the fly-by-night MMOs).

The fact male miqo'te look the way they look is no fault of the playerbase. Well, not the NA playerbase, anyways.

Mammalian-like could mean we get a class of beaver people. Short, squat, and with a wide-flat tail.

I pray to Marduk we don't though.

This is EORZEA, and the only reason we got races that look like those of XI's were to add familiarity to players coming from the only other Final Fantasy online game. I don't think we will see the name "Viera" in this game. After all, they didn't even keep the FFXI names for what are practically the same races (queue up the Roegadyn tail requests).

No, if we do get rabbit people - they will be called something like "Feylar"... close but different.

Point is, viera are already too much like miq'ote; a cute race with slightly animalistic features. If you need animalistic, leave out the cute, I'm not playing Pokemon or Kirby here.

Lol at the people hating on Viera, when their main characters are boring Hyurs.

And if they didn't add Viera, there WILL be a sh*tstorm on the forums since they even slightly mentioned Viera. Doesn't matter if they didn't, people still voted for that just because they had that name there.

On that note, I would be sad if whatever they add wasn't available at 2.0 ;-;

Admittedly, they did screw themselves by dropping the name "viera" in the poll, so now it looks like we're all screwed...

People view them as a cute race, and I do not.

They are spiritual wood living creatures. They have ways opposite of the races we have now. Their lore is quite interesting and seeing them in Eorzea is no problem for me. PLUS I would LOVE to see male counterparts much like the male Miqote.

I view them as people that respects nature. Like an Amazon'ish tribe that keeps to themselves.

Whatever they add, if they even decide to add anything, won't be available when 2.0 comes out. 2.0 development is already too far along for that. If they're just now starting to get ideas for the possibility of a new race, it wouldn't happen for a long time. There's a lot of things to consider when you implement something like this. You have to come up with a way to integrate it into the current universe, you need to make designs for it, and most labor intensively, you have to make new designs of every single armor in existence for it.

I'm sure Yoshi regrets using the word "Viera" because what comes out, if anything, certainly won't be a Viera. I'm not particularly thrilled about a new race, but I look forward to seeing what they come up with. I just hope it's not super insanely popular like miqos currently are. At least on my server hyur are more unique and interesting than the flood of kitties.

The FFXIV forum community seriously has like zero imagination. Instead of asking for a new or different race... they ask for another slutty animal race from previous games.

Yeah, Yoshi-P admitted it was a loaded question. We're not getting Viera, he was just using Viera as a familiar example. You guys are morons.

Also there was no indication of them being PLAYABLE races, these "Mammalian demi-beastmen" may just as well for all we know be a new beastmen tribe of NPCs.

I do think they could tie viera lore into Eorzea very well, of course they would have to hail from the black shroud, perhaps natural enemies of Gridania, and the 2.0 Gridania storyline could be based on these two enemies.

I still don't understand why people are saying we're getting Viera... nowhere anywhere does it say we're getting Viera. The poll option was not for Viera. I think a lot of people hoping for more fuzzy critters are going to be in a world for disappointment whenever they get around to adding new races. For all we know, "mammalian demi-beastman" is going to end up being a race of fat hedgehog people. IF they even decide to go with mammalian demi-beastmen as their pick for the eventual new race.

Yeah, this community is terrible!

Why isn't anyone asking for manly races? You know, for manly gamers like me.

P.S. I hope we get hedgehog people. Give Lalafell a run for their money.

To anyone who thought this was a binding poll that indicated exactly what they were going to implement in the game, you're bound to be sadly mistaken.

Besides, the poll choice is actually nothing to do with Viera, it is just one of the examples given.

Don't kid yourself. Every guy worth his testosterone sees bunny ears on a hot chick and goes "OMG I WANT."

Which proves you can add almost anything to a sexy female and it will get the most votes in any race popularity contest.

It's people like this that will prevent us from ever getting a unique, well-designed race. It's always sex appeal for the win!

Imagination has NOTHING to do with it. It's a personal preference. We've never been able to play a Viera in ANY Final Fantasy MMO's and with that question they asked and the example they gave, a lot of people got their hopes up. Don't hate on the community for picking what they like. We're getting called "morons" now. Great. I love the minority

Here's another one, asking for a manly race when he picked Lalafell hahaha

I think Yoshi P corrupted the results by making the Viera name drop. People don't want any cute mammal race. Most of them are erroneously thinking that they voted to get Viera into the game, and instead of voting for something they might have otherwise found interesting, they're probably going to get something they aren't even interested in.

The thing is Viera can fit into the game very well, yes I have made a few jokes about their sluttyness, but they don't have to make them like that, I feel they will fit into the black shroud very well paticurlaly as beastmen, and it could show some really good lore, because the Viera in Ivalice are said to beable to hear the forest, what is the Black shroud trying to say?

Also what if Viera are enemies of Gridania and think the city states want to destroy the forest it could end up with a really good story.
