Can't say I'm thrilled by the confirmation we're not getting exploration content this expac.

I think that's been a given for some time. Sadly I love Eureka and Bozja and and looking at this upcoming relic with a sense of dread. If it's centered on running old content aka HW relics I won't be happy but I suspect that's what it'll be. It's what a certain group in the community has clamored for and I suspect they'll be getting what they want.
I loved BA, Castrum, Delibrium and DRS but I suppose we're getting the new dungeons as a replacement.
There have been numerous commentaries on the issues with those zones, especially the fact they get a hell of a lot harder to complete once the expac endsQuote:
I meant Eureka / Bozja style content.

While I mostly agree, I'm still going to judge SQEX a bit on this one.
I know folks who only just got to level 80, who would really like their Resistance relics (because pretty weapons!), but who have found there isn't enough population in Bozja now for them to complete things like Castrum Lacus Litore or Delubrum Reginae. And I think having rewards tied to that content that people coming along later will want, but no other way to keep the content alive is at least mildly problematic once the initial waves are past; as you yourself note, people got the rewards and then noped out because there was some other newer reward they now wanted to grind towards -- or because they went "Okay, got my stuff, now I'm going to take my break and go play Other Game for a couple of months until the new raid tier drops." or whatever.
And while Discords like Primal Forays and Eurekan Explorers and whatnot exist—and I've directed the folks I've encountered to those sort of resources—someone trying to just do that content in the game is not necessarily going to know to go look for those.
So I do think SQEX could demonstrably do a little better at future-proofing some things here and incentivizing people to keep the older stuff alive for the newer players following along behind us: add weekly challenge log entries for critical engagements, put Delubrum Reginae into Wondrous Tails, make some of these sort of things give current capped tomestones if you run them with a level-capped character, etc.
I mean, they demonstrably know this does keep older content alive, because they incentivize specific instances of older content in that way already with Wondrous Tails, as well as incentivizing filling whatever older content needs people with daily roulettes.
Id love to do CLL and Delubrum..but thats dead content now , very few are doing it on Zurvan or across OCE, Eureka unless you are dedicated is also an issue.....so as my learned colleague above has said, it hasnt been future proofed.Quote:
I'm really hoping these last two expansions have made it crystal clear to them that artificially propping these zones up with a highly desired weapon instead of making them places that people actually want to go to and do things in is not an effective way at all to future proof their content.
I CAN see what you mean, but then the question then is : will this content then viable afterwards.
Eureka is also ( sigh ) bot riddled.
You can do it with Discord if you don't mind that format. I was surprised the other day farming frags in Bozja on Chaos it had close to 50 in zone with 24 joining CLL. Perhaps there was a discord group in zone don't really know but some content is still running on it's own two feet it appears.
They literally said in the interview that it will be similar to ARR/HW style of relic, which is pretty much the nadir of engaging endgame content.
But some people were really eager to run Crystal Tower 50 times again instead of trying something new, so good for them I guess.
Well coming from a CRAZY like me with 12 Cerebus I sure won't be taking my alts through the effort of running old content to get stuff for hand ins and I've been doing relic since ARR. I simply adored opened world content and doing what I needed to do in those zones. C'est la vie I suppose.
We're ten years into the game's active development. It's more than a little concerning if they haven't figured out how to design content that is future proofed in advance as to not fade into irrelevancy...or just create some new shiny rewards to encourage veteran players to go back and delve into the likes of Eureka and Bozja once more.
I can do DRN CLL and DAL daily on OCE hell I just got out of a DRN farm party that I joined just because I like DRN, BA and DRS are done through discord but they have always been done by discord, if the smallest DC that didn’t even exist when Bozja was current content can get this stuff done regularly i have no idea what people are seemingly finding difficult outside of “why isn’t this stuff being run 400 times a day so I can queue at my convenience”
Well I may go the route of taking my Sophia alt through Eureka and Bozja and work on doing that in my time rather than deal with the new relic. It will probably be a lot more fun reliving that content than doing what the new one entails although I'll reserve judgment until I know more about the process.
Good to know that Materia does in fact have people doing relic there given lately content and DF have been pretty slow. I'm hoping 6.2 brings a resurgence to DF and an infusion of new people and transfers. There is certainly an abundance of housing there for those who want a house.
To be fair. In terms of keeping old content alive, FF14 is very good at it. I know games, which make old content completely irrelevant with every new content patch. :) And it is an old MMORPG problem, there is also a word for it: mudflation. I guess, this problem it cannot be solved entirely.
Cheers
This is a slow point for everyone, we just feel it more on materia because of our lower population, a lot of the vets are taking a break, it will massively pick up again in 6.2, especially when people from other DC’s come back realise they still don’t have a chance at a house and transfer to us to get a house
People said Eureka would die after the first group got their characters to level 20. The content is still viable I've run that content and earned HW relics late into Shadowbringers and that was pretty easy to do. Granted I've been too busy to engage in relic activities with EW but I suspect the Bozja content will also see further nerfs with the introduction of the EW relics.
As long as they don't nerf BA and DRS I'm fine with additional nerfs.
For some reason it's not that they don't know how to, they simply refuse to. It's as easy as letting the Echo buff scale up all the way to 1 player so that it's a moderate but quick challenge solo or with a few friends. There's zero problem with players facerolling lv50 dungeons for the ARR relics, but for some reason it's not allowed for Bozja.
Discord works, but as with any system in a game you have to ask "does this make the game better?". Is a Bozja that requires discord more fun for the overall playerbase than one you can hop into anytime solo or with a few friends?
I can't say this is super encouraging to hear, and actually leaves me relatively bummed. Manderville related things already disinterest me as they don't really tickle the part of my brain that makes me enjoy things, but now knowing we're going to be completely without an exploratory zone just feels lame. There were lots of parts of Bozja and Eureka I actively disliked, but overall I enjoyed the content and found it an interesting and engaging way to grind for relics in a way that was slightly more interesting than just FATE grinding. The stories of Bozja and Eureka were also very interesting and added a lot to the overarching lore of the world.
I really dislike this, as it feels like a backslide to me, but it is what it is, I suppose.
Everyone else: adventuring forays
Me: [Battle With the Four Fiends ver. Hyadain intensifies] if Rubicante doesn't have some leggy showing and him healing us like halfway through the fight or something I'll riot.
If they’d like to go back to ARR/HW styled grind, so be it.
Personally, I just hope they’re not 100% rerunning old content + RNGfest involved like Atma & Books.
Have you ever heard of Heaven on High? That was Stormblood content.
But we lost The Feast, Bozja, possibly duels and 48man savage and Ishgard Restoration to make room for that new content.Quote:
Island sanctuary, deep dungeon, variant/criterion dungeons, a Hildebrand relic quest and crystalline conflict is "less content" lol.
Disappointed overall. IS sounds like Doman Resto 2.0, no mention of the deep dungeon, they dont seem to have a plan for 7.0 I get the impression they're just making it up as they go along. Void will be wrapped and finished within the patch content. No exploratory zone, and running Crystal Tower for the 3000th time for relics. I'm not a week 1 savage player, (I only really do ex and old savages) but chances are because of how tomes and content are dropping, it'll probably be easier than Eden's Verse was on release which I also dislike because I dont think lowering the skill floor helps the game. That'll probably be the case with the new trial as well due to it being tied into the MSQ.
Whilst I am really looking forward to Island Sanctuary, I just know as soon as it launches people will rip it apart for not being an exact copy of Housing, despite how they keep saying it will not be. House really needs a revamp and to be made more fair, but I feel they have made it clear enough that Island Sanctuary will not be it.
As for the Relic Quests… hmm… on the one hand, I really did love Bozja and its story, and it was a fun mode to farm when you have enough players around. That said, the fact it becomes a lot harder to play such content post-Expansion really can hurt. I hope they find a way to make such content more solo friendly. For the moment I am curious and interested in how they will handle the Relic quest. I really love the initial idea of mixing it with the Manderville quests, of all things, and hopefully this will make farming for these relics more assessable for expansions beyond now. Its been fun doing the HW relic quest recently, like a personal challenge you can farm over time.
Mostly expected and continues the idea they might have gone super conservative implementation (a style I've come to expect, though sometimes I wish they'd push themselves away from like how BLU launched chained up even though it was meant to be wild), obviously we're in the thick fog right now... but I feel fairly confident now on my pre-feedback of considering not to carry that style on. It's good not to go as crazy into it as WoW did were it destroyed the economy, but certainly the Island having a strong existence.. I feel that would be nice.Quote:
- Island Sanctuary doesn't have a storyline attached to it, other than some simple quests leading the player to the island.
- The weather will change on the island, but it will not snow, since it is located in an area of the world where it doesn't snow.
- Mostly Island Sanctuary will not connect to the rest of the game's systems eg being able to get tokens to exchange for items outside the island, but when you "explore to the limit" you will find some elements that connect to the outside world.
- I think this may have already been confirmed in the last LL, but for further confirmation: Housing items cannot be used on the island. The island is not intended as a replacement for housing, instead its about developing an uninhabited island.
More feedback when we do touch it lol. I mean I am looking forward to the homestead nature and didn't expect it to be housing out of the gate or any time soon, but I do hope they are not hyper focused on painting themselves into a strict corner. Might even try to balance it on some other system, if need be, like exporting certain items costs leve tokens.
A little scared that Island Sanctuary will end up abandoned with how it'll be disconnected from the rest of the game..
Am I the only one who thinks they are still figuring things out for the remaining 6.X series and 7.0 isn't as far as long as it should be? No way 7.0 is coming out Holiday 2023...I am beginning to wonder if it is a Summer 2024 release.
