I loved the story in Garlemald and the transformations in Thavnair.
For me it was the cutscenes of the starship taking off and then later returning to Eorzea. Those images were serious eye candy.
My homie Zenos.
I liked Garlemald. Because it was really depressing and i liked the WW1 vibes with the music. And you got an idea how it feels to be a Garlemald citizen without the ability to use magic.
Cheers
Well, the music was certainly top-notch in my opinion. I love 'Footfalls' and have that playing in my car frequently. 'Close in the Distance' and 'Flow' carry a real emotional punch. And it was nice to get some context for 'Answers'
I very much enjoyed the transition into it too - the scenes as we approached Sharlayan for the first time.
The Grand Company of Eorzea gathering in Gyr Abania.
The 'Alphinaud makes a phonecall' scenario, where pretty much everyone we'd met on our journey (to that point) turned up in response.
The launch of the Ragnarok. That was just pure awesome. I mean, the music (Torn from the Heavens) and setting were fantastic, but seeing the Primals in their non- bastardized state, and at their full potential, made me smile no end!
The Soup scene at Camp Brokenglass, with Jullus
But what I loved most? Zenos' appearance toward the end. I loved that it was him of all people who came to our aid, despite his reason for doing so. I loved the fact that he actually took what Alisae said onboard. I loved the fact that the byproduct of his motivation to gain consent from the WoL to fight them once more helped save the universe.
I loved the fight against him too - he was a character I was pretty indifferent about to that point. However, when he addressed us - "not as the hero but as simply.... you" (not the exact dialogue, I know) it made me think how ironic it was that Zenos.... ZENOS of all people... was genuinely considering what we WANTED to do rather than what we HAD to do.
I loved how he referred to us as "simply..... you" and "Adventurer" too. It was certainly the first time anyone had referred to us as such for a long time.
And the fist fight with him at the end? I loved every second of that!
And finally I loved the closing montage, with the Ascians walking toward the Scions, and which ends with that moment pretty much everyone screenshots:

Such a touching moment, and it felt quite Meta too - like the Devs were acknowledging the player's part in getting the game to where it is.
I know Endwalker isn't popular with some, and have mixed feelings about it overall myself, but I still really did love the moments that I've mentioned.
The instances; Metal Gear Thancred and the instance when your soul is in the body of a Garlean. Such good instances! Had the joys of doing it before they reworked it to be easier.
I think there was much to love visually/story wise/musically so I'll just list a couple of things vaguely to mostly avoid spoilers.
- Zenos' self-determinism at the very end of the story.
- Zodiark's theme, period. Especially the part about wings of faith, those parallels are POTTERY.
- The entire ordeal to save the baby in Thavnair
- Body swap and its quest
- Ameliance being a fun character
- Old Sharlayan
- The colored carrots
- Night visit
- Back to the future
- Hydaelyn
- Venat
- The entire scene when taking off
- Seeing the entire world show up to help thanks to the Scion's connections
- Duel at the end of the world
- That, I cannot deny
I had a fun time, cannot lie.
#1 thing for me would be the soundtrack. The Trial themes throughout FFXIV have been some of my favorite pieces, and EW did not disappoint. And with the xpac being the one to "wrap up" the current storyline, I particularly loved how the final trial incorporated motifs from several different xpacs along the way, building to an EW theme.
#2 would be Elpis and the final zone. I loved the storyline in both, and the going back to the musical theme, the way the music was used in the final zone was awesome to me.
#3 would be the callbacks, both to other FF games and earlier parts of FFXIV. In particular, FFIV is my second favorite non-MMO game in the series, and I enjoyed seeing it at last get big references in FFXIV. The final trial phase transition in particular gave me major vibes of one of my favorite moments in the entire FF series. And I really like how even some of the random side-quests incorporate past events. Discovering/realizing what happened to Tataru's carbuncle from soooo long ago, meeting a certain relative of a certain Scion in Sharlayan, etc.. I love how they manage to bring back things from the past in ways that always surprise me and make me smile (or tear up, as the case may be). :)
I like the "In From The Cold" quest.
I liked it right until they copped out in the end and had Zenos do absolutely nothing of consequence.
... the Loporrits
Venat and the Ancients. Didn't expect them and found the backstory amazing.
I liked EW because it came with Soken's newest album!
The MSQ was great! --wait, what do you mean it wasn't Hildibrand?
Zenos. Always Zenos. My friend, my enemy, my obsession. ♥
Elpis, it was refreshing to meet new characters without having to deal with the scions bickering.
The punch.
What i loved about endwalker, everything! Every quests and storylines that got me crying , the music, scenery, especially the npc Trust solo duty. That was super fun! It felt like alot much as Metal Gear Solid stealth mission. Alot of people didnt like it cus they want to do that with their character lol but hey, deal with it and gotta do them if you wanna continue onto the storyline right? XD
I loved when the kid got scared and turned into a Red Sin Eater only to get stepped on by the larger red sin eater in front of his dad
Getting to punch Zenos in his crazed stalker face. I love the dude but by god, by the end he was reminding me a bit too much of the person who introduced me to the game.
Oh, also G'raha was a joy to be around, as usual. /gen
I loved…
• Tower of Zot
• In From The Cold quest and its solo duty.
• Etheirys/Hydaelyn view from the Moon. Once again reminding me that calendar exists in this game!
• The OSTs in general.
• The feel of angst it inflicted to me from certain Garlicmart & lv85’ish cutscenes.
• Watching my WoL interacts, reacts, and once again proving that he’s not a flawless being—He’s very ‘alive’.
• Beautiful spots scattered around Elpis, Thavnair, Ultima Thule, Omphalos, & Moon for gpose’ing <3
I loved all the quests that forced you to have an NPC follow you around on foot while getting stuck on everything making you backtrack so you don't lose them and have to start over.
/s
When it ended and I was released from the soul-crushing despair it caused me.
The music for the 1st & 2nd bosses in each EW dungeon.
I recently found out you can get the orchestrion roll for it in the lvl 90 maps or buy it off the MB, the orchestrion is called, On Blade's Edge
Bunny boys <3
The best part of EW for me was the Urianger quest in Mare Lamentorum.
Our friend was on the same path once again to become a duplicitous confidant who works on his own little meta shenanigans due to some twist of fate. And this time we are there with him to steer him toward a better path and what I loved about it so much was that we had the option to show him how the same kinds of doubt and even the same weakness can take hold of us too and how he isn't alone with his feelings. I was thinking about what to answer him for a long time, because what would make or break option 3 would really be his reaction to it. And it was fantastic. He was genuinely shocked to see the Warrior of Light be just another human being, not merely an unreachable ideal who you can idolize but never truly be friends with.
I also loved the drinking scene in the Last Stand, not only was it funny but Y'shtola was strangely cordial there!
And the Thancred doorknocking scene was the best, I'm glad I chose it.
In Endwalker I loved Elpis and Ktisis Hyperboreia, especially with the Trust system. Tangentially, I really love the Trust/Duty Support system. It really nails the feeling of playing a Final Fantasy game.
Zone design. Theres alot of good, and bad, that came from endwalker. But the overall zone design was top tier and anyone who says otherwise would go directly to the bottom of my list of people to care about when it comes to opinions. Thavnair was colorful and bright, Garlamalds frozen tundra and destroyed city perfectly fit the wartorn nation aspect, Moon, while a bit empty, did at least make you focus REALLY hard at what was there, which was important, everything in old sharlyan felt really interesting, and elpis/ultima thul give even Amarout a hard race for my overall favorite zone in the game. Elpis perfectly hit that "garden of creation" feel with the different areas within feeling like it was actually a research and development area for the different sub-sections of creation magic, and Ultima thul hit it out of the park in the "graveyard of worlds" setting. Not to mention the really nice use of elevated ground and the color design of both being fantastic, the giant green pits and the deep reds and purples swirling on the outside of Thul was jawdropping first time seeing it.
There is alot I loved from Endwalker, and that I enjoyed in 6.1 (The music in Aglaia raid is some of my favorite in the game.) What I loved was how it it made me a fan of Venat /Hydaelyn. I entered the expansion expecting Hydaelyn to be the big bad of the saga, but I really liked what they did with Venat and explaining what she did. Which is interesting as I have seen people here say the complete opposite haha.
All in all there is not much I did not enjoy from the expansion. I loved the Loporrits. Elpis. Venat. Our dinner with our favourite nemesis as well as the meal with the Scions. My personal highlight, however, was Ultima Thule. The next expansion will have to work hard to top that experience!
How easy it made the decision to unsub for a while and play FFXI.
On a more serious note, I enjoyed Tower of Zot as a dungeon, though I wish they kept the idea that dungeons can have more hectic and fun mechanics in all dungeon boss fights.
All of it, from start to end.
There wasn't much I didn't like about Endwalker, though it wasn't perfect.
-The existentialist themes and how they're well explored were very enjoyable.
-While it was underwhelming as a mere dungeon boss, Anima is one of my favorite summons and getting to fight it in this game was awesome.
-Standing on the moon and looking up to see the planet in the sky always evokes a sense of awe, like you finally realize just how far you've come since stepping up to protect a beggar falsely accused of stealing some nice chicken tendies.
-While their presence in the second, "proper" visit to Labyrinthos was poorly paced (as was the whole zone, really), the Loporrits were equal parts adorable, hilarious, and wise, and I love them for it.
-The opportunity to connect and empathize with Fandaniel, in both his Hermes and Amon guises, was very touching to me to know that deep down he is just a troubled person.
-Venat / Hydaelyn being neither pure good nor pure evil, just a person doing what she believed to be best even knowing it was morally reprehensible and she would be reviled for it; not only does it paint a very human picture but it also shows that she has unbreakable conviction.
-Zenos smacking Jullus upside the head with Nietzsche 101, and Alisae throwing his hedonism back in his face.
-The Final Day and the Duel at the Edge of Existence.
-All of the music was amazing. All of it.
-RPR go brrr. Enshroud is sick, bro! (Still testing the water with SGE, I stopped healing at the end of 2.X and picking it back up with a Job auto-leveled to 70 is proving... just a tad difficult.)
Honestly, I loved everything! So many unexpected twists and turns in the MSQ kept me in a chokehold for days! There were even times when the emotions and themes of the story gripped me to the point of crying. If I could, I would erase my memory of the whole thing, just so I could relive it and be in awe for the first time again. :D
It came out at the perfect time for me. Often dealing with depression, I used to struggle emotionally everyday to do anything. Nowadays I'm better, but the overall message of "Forge Ahead," in EW really did help me come to grips with reality and my emotional state/thoughts as a whole. I can't wait to see what they have cooking up for us in later MSQ!
And "Close In The Distance," is such a God Tier song, oml.
Vrtra cosplaying as a shota.
I really liked The Final Day Trial, as well as The Dead Ends Dungeon.
Both sections were really gripping. A Dungeon exploring & telling tales of 3 of the stars Metions Sisters have been to. And then that last Trial was just really fun and exciting. Especaly the scripted "part"
I guess Ill also add in "The Walk" game was an emotional Rollercoster for me, and I loved every second.
Just imagine your character peacefully walking toward one of the NPC that saw it as the most trustable/heroic living being and once it arrive in front of said NPC, just stab it with a peacefull smile, camera switching between the face of your character smiling normally (no over exagerated weird smile) and the NPC chocked and distressed faces.
Everyone around is chocked and Zenos go away while wounding as much people as he can on his wake (still in your body no one know it's him), give you back your body while you're about to die in garlemald vincinity and the Eorzean alliance found you unconscious in the snow. Now that would have been drama + drama material for later !
